- This is a very nice 18 year old Glen Garioch, don't get me wrong. I just don't think it's worth the $272.02 CAD that it took to get it to the nearest post office to where I live...

I love Glen Garioch; a real sleeper of a distillery that does not get the full attention it deserves (maybe we should be thankful for this). Quite a steep price for this bottle up in Canada; I do not see this around the states ever but will be on the lookout. Slainte, Quig.
love is the most powerful force on earth besides quig
This is a rare whisky in Canada too... That's why the price of admission is so high, I'm sure. I was able to obtain the first two chapters at a reasonable price off the shelf. The third chapter cost much more off the same shelf, and now the last chapter was not on the shelf, was in the neighboring province, cost a bunch more, and more than a year later...
I just got it in Calgary for 100cad….the 12 yo is one of the most complex bottle I tried in that range….good for us it is underrated, and underpriced….
I have never gone wrong with any bottle of Glen Garioch...
an underrated distillery with a top rated dram. I have yet to crack open the 12 that I bought upon your validation of it, I am always on the lookout for the 15 sherry (which I might never find)
Glen Graioch does not disappoint me...
@@foodquig It is wonderful honest whisky for sure. Btw, upon checking, the Tamdhu batch 6 is on sale at Craft cellars! Also, if you're looking for Blanton's original, they have it at this moment, they might not in the next moment. And im like a kid in a candy store since I saw one of my favourite 12s, the Bunnahabain 12 on sale, along with the newly released darker Glenallechie 12. Some great sales worth checking out!
no no no, I dont work for craft cellars LOL
@@catnapgee5357 I'm not in a rush to buy much at the moment, but I will jump when my radar pings on something... Unfortunately, none of the things that you mentioned are on my radar right now.
@@foodquig Fair enough, but it is worth mentioning one which you might really like, The Ederdaour Caledonia 12 is back on Craft, I thought they were sold out, and it's on sale. Thats supposed to be a beauty.
Thanks for the review. However I truly cannot comprehend how you find it like Woodford Reserve Double Oak. How in heaven's name do you find that?
I'm only talking about the wood influence and not the whole whisky here... I'm sorry if I was not clear about that.
My eyes must deceive me for I am in shock. I checked our new month releases at the Manitoba liquor commission, and they have this bottle (about 12 bottles in total) for $79.99. It makes me wonder, what's the catch? Is it just not a really good whisky? How have you been getting along with your bottle since popping it?
A month later and I am past the shoulder... This is classic Glen Garioch at 18 years old, a bit more oaky than most expressions and a tad stronger with an ABV of 50.2% rather than 48%... I cant think of anything wrong with this dram... Looks like you pulled the "Error in your Favor" card, so don't hesitate and jump on it if it hasn't sold out yet!
@@foodquig I have one on hold for me which I will aim to pick up tomorrow! As long as it's still better than the 12 (which I can get for $53 at Alberta) then I can't go wrong. I know some have complained that this one is over oaked but an 18 yr old single malt at $80 (plus 12% Manitoba tax) is a steal, especially for a collectors item. Still very hard to believe, but if the quig gives it the written stamp of approval, then I'm sold! :-)
