Finally!!! I've hunted for weeks for a 9 foot awning for my trailer!!! Thanks for the help!! And I'm saving your film for watching again before trying to put it on!!
Glad I could help!
From Australia: I couldn’t stop watching you both, seeing Julie walking in the background watching over you to asking if you needed a hand, you are a good soul, I hope it brings you and your family lots of happiness and joy.
Thank you Matt she's a good woman for sure she will help me with anything I do.
Thanks , Nice to see someone that takes the time to tend to the details. Best info on this type of awning install and a great look what will come in the mail once ordered. Kevin is so right about the lack of info when trying to buy an Awning.
Glad it was helpful!
You are a true Craftsman and professional enjoy your videos so much !
Thank you for the comment smithderek1031.
Thanks for the in depth install and usage video. You did a great job on the install. This also clearly demonstrates this would probably not be a good option in a one man operation, I am glad I learned this before considering this as an option as I may not always have the extra hands around.
I think I can do but it would be hard for one.
We have the same awning and found it simple to role it over the top rather underneath.
We will give it a try next time thanks George
Looks real good Kevin....just like it was a professional that instaled it and on top of it, looks really good and stores away all compact and tidy....just perfect ....good instal...CHEERS
Thank you Gator.
Your video was so thorough, my husband and I had ours (a 14 foot with center support, also from RV Awnings R Us) out the box, put together and installed in around 20 min.
Thank you for the comment.
Brook what did this cost you?
Awesome how to, good job on the install l feel confident I could handle this project. Julie was was a great helper!!the rooster was one the best parts in the video!!😁
Thank you Marlon.
Again thank you we will be putting a awning on ours too. Ours is a older pop up awning .
I Love the awning works great thanks for the comment Lee M.
Kevin, Get 3 or 4 "Kids Pool Tubes" to slice and cap the awning supports.
Good idea thanks JP
I've got the same sized cargo trailer. I've been struggling to find an awning. Appreciate your video and the info you provide. Good job!
You did a great job. Looks good.
Thank you William.
Excellent video showing how to install a canopy. Thank you once again. Julie too.:)
Thanks for the comment and watching.
Just got the 11’ model for my pop up, thanks for the great video, can’t wait to get mine installed now.
Good step by step Kevin. Thanks bud.
Thank you for watching Tomoko.
@@Robinson-Homestead You should teach bud. The name is Dean. Tomoko was an incredible Akita. that once blessed my life.
I would sign up for his class!!
He would be an awesome teacher!
@@denisehaley7155 You bet. He has a great air about him eh.
Just what I'm looking for my custom dirt bike. Thank for sharing. 🇺🇲🤙🏼
Cool good luck with it, thanks for watching.
Thank you so much for this video it will save me so much time when I start to install my 11 foot one.
You're very welcome!
Good video Kev. I pick up my cargo trailer tomorrow!!!
You doing a build?
@@Robinson-Homestead yes sir. i sold the the little camper and ordered a 5x8 Vnose. been waiting 6 weeks for it. ready to get started on the conversion
Great job.. Bought my 8x8 regular non motorized awning from Aleko for $340 with 15% off coupon to go on my 7x12 cargo...adds 64 lbs for those also watching weight
Thanks for the comment you need to do videos I would love to see your build.
Looks great 👍 you did a fantastic install thanks for sharing
Thank you Jerry.
i like that opne. i think i may look into getting that style for my cargo trailer/camper. thanks for making this video.
Thank for watching Al.
That looks great Kevin that was sort of the way we had ours.
I think it will be good.
WOW big PITA to put out and stow away.
Not really that was the first time using it , we got it all figured out now.
That's a good looking awning and a great price too. When I was building my camper shell, I didn't think about having something like that.
My door is too close to the top for that to work for me. I could put one on the other side I guess, but that would be kinda wonky.
I'm thinking about a freestanding popup canopy or something. I like what you got though.
The popup canpy works great I have one to but my door on the camper gets in the way.
@@Robinson-Homestead hmmm. probably wouldn't for me either. I need to clear 8.5'.
Good job on the install! I've purchased one myself and you're right there is very little info out there. If you do the "Add-a-room" for that awning i'd appreciate a video on that also. Thanks man!
@@TheWoodHaven hmmm, I was thinking of doing a canopy... but now you have me wondering if my door would clear
@@anothersomebody8195 something to think about.
Thank you for sharing this all the way through. I have a question. How do you keep it from flopping around when pulling the trailer? Seems there would be quite a bit of movement and I would think that would be hard on the camper and could cause damage. I'll have to look at your other vids to get an update on this, but it was helpful. I'd be by myself most of the time so this may be somewhat hard for me to get back wrapped up. But I can see the potential and I really want one on my converted trailer.
nice job Kevin n awning job
Thank you Gary.
Your goats are talking to you! “Please feed me” LOL
Not my goats but I'll feed them for sure.
Nice job installing the awning! You want it to cover entrance door side more. Some install a plastic wheel upside down so wheel hold canvas of top of entrance door to protect the canvas awning! Thank you Kevin
I have seen them Ron thanks.
You are the man !
I have been searching and searching for the right awning for my tramper and thanks to you I have found it.
I really enjoyed the in depth installation video.
You are a great teacher.
Please make a video of how it is holding up , I look forward to seeing it.
By the way where is this place you bought this and do they ship because I live in Ohio ?
Thanks buddy.
It's holding up great so far I will do video thanks for the comment.
Nice complete video, pretty cool project. But why did you attach the mounting rail to your trailer upside down? None of the screws heads should be seen after the awning is slipped in, the bag would shield them.
Thanks for the comment.
Good job you too enjoyed your friend Gman
Thank you Gman.
Kevin, great job on this how-to instructional video. Really a confidence builder for the DIYer. With the placement of the side support rails, did you use something like foam swim noodles as a safety cover when walking around? Thanks for the video!
dammit boy, I love self tapping screws, and roosters, and goats, and thats no lie..
Me too Mark thank you for watching.
Great video! This looks pretty complex
Debra
Just a little Debra.
Greetings Mr. Kevin. By my estimation we should hear how the awning is doing after a year of service. I hope either it held up or you found something easier to retract.
Will do a video on the awning thanks for the comment.
@@Robinson-Homestead looking to do an awning on my cargo trailer. Do you still like yours?
@@jayc3648 the is still holding up great love it.
Did you consider flipping the channel piece the other way? (The piece that holds the awning to the trailer.) Looks like that would put the screws under the awning bag and raise the awning about an inch. Do you think that would work?
A light coating of Vaseline on the zipper will help keep it from sticking on you.
Thank you Mike.
Can you give the name of company that you got it from..thanks for the video
Sorry Rick I can't remember the name of the company.
Put some leather straps on the zippers to make it easier to reach
You have me a idea Bigfoot thank you.
Or just a stick with a little hook. Either way.
Try inexpensive metal shower curtain rings. Twelve (if memory serves) for about $2 from Walmart. I've used them as an easy to grasp zipper pull assist. Would be especially useful in this situation, to just hook a finger in it and pull. Use a carabiner to connect the 2 rings to help keep the zippers from opening while on the road.
Great video...Have you had a problem with that blowing around while you are driving? Seems like with it just hanging down it would?
No problem blowing around I did a 5000 mile trip not one issue with it mariner3 thanks for the comment.
What awning did you review?
Any links?
Another 5 or 6 hundred, for an enclosure, and that would be perfect.
That's right Bent.

That's right thanks for the comment.
Great video I’m definitely in the market for one... we camp at Hidden Creek campground in Allenwood, Pa.. Would love to see you stop by sometime... you can find us on Facebook.. did you do an update review? I can’t find it anywhere
Will have the update video in the spring.
Use your step to help you reach when trying to zip the bag. 👍
Good idea thanks.
3 years later... How ya liking the awning??
We love it ,works great it just got a little dirty after being put away for awhile so i need to clean it up a bit.
This is a GREAT instructional video but I would spend the extra $$$$ and get something that was easy to put up and take down. I have lived in RV (three 40' motorhomes full time) for the last 17 years and have had RV's all my life and this is to much work.
Thanks for the comment Dave.
Is there a link to buy this awning??
Where can I order this awning?
I have a question: I bought this exact awning for my Pop Up camper. I saw another video about installing specifically for a Pop Up. My question is this: in that other video they attach the top socket bracket by screwing directly through the top of the pop up camper. Is there wood or something behind that shell? It seems like it could maybe poke through the top and into the fabric of the pop up inside? Has anyone else tried this with a pop up? I guess I need to open it up and check the construction of my top. Maybe should have done that before I bout the awning : / Oh well. Any answers or info would be much appreciated.
There should be wood in there measure the thickness and get the screws 1/8 inch shorter stainless is best thank you for the comment Scottyplug.
Installed this today. Word to the wise: you absolutely want to smooth off the ends of the channel on the cross bar to ensure you don't snag or tear the awning fabric when sliding it into the channel. Factory smoothed or not, you want that edge butter soft. This will help prevent snags, rips, or tears and will greatly increase the ease with which the awning slides into the channel. Otherwise this thing went together and on the camper pretty simply. And it looks great and is super easy to deploy and pack back up. I really love all the versatility with the adjustable legs!
@@scottyplug thanks for the info will do.
Just a thought. Check the retail links below. A handle and a folding step at the front and rear corners of the trailer might help.
* Direct link: is.gd/vhpQj7 Manual search: www.zoro.com then search Steel Folding Step
* Direct link: is.gd/4ZpxoO Manual search: Black Vinyl Grab Handle
I have not used either product. I just looked for under $10 pieces that fit the idea that I for the tough reach up for the zipper of for that last little push up to get it put away. This eliminates the need to bring One More Thing along on the trip. Of course a study cooler that you already have may serve better.
Either way, congrats on the dream and the will to Do It.
Who do I contact to order one I have the same size trailer ? Thank you
Awnings R us.com tell him Kevin Robinson sent you thank you.
Where's the link to buy?
It should be in the description.
I was gonna get an ARB awning for my camper conversion.. but while I was doing research, I came across a CZcams video of a guy who made a DIY awning. It was pretty brilliant and it only cost about $60.
Basically, you use a regular tarp or tent awning with grommets. Then use suction cup anchors to attach it to the trailer.. and a couple of tent/awning poles on the front portion. It works brilliantly. I already had a good tent awning.. so I just had to get the suction cups and poles. If you're interested in doing something similar.. here's a couple of links to the stuff I used on mine.

Random stuff, can you share the video of the diy awning?
Sorry to say but this awning is a cheap one, I have the same one on my 6x12, it's OK not great the aluminum hing brackets bend very easily and is hard to put up when windy pay a little more and buy a better one
Sorry but I haven't had one issue with mine and no it wasn't cheap either.
Better working slow, then working sorry.

thanks for the comments
What’s the name brand of awning
it's from awnings r us
Stupid girl question. Why a 7/16th screw when a 8/ 16th is just a regular old 1/2 inch, plus other odd combinations. I only do things in the one quarters on the tape measure. I don't work with anything SMALLER. What's the deal?
Debra
You sound just like my wife Debra.
