@@Zeta-io6wd I mostly agree with the meta part. It does feel like games have become too quick (if you’re not running a stall deck), but I personally like to play with friends casually while using tournament restrictions if I’m using one of my “legal” decks. So for 3:15
Synchro summoning is reserved for the cards with the white border that go into your extra deck and are labeled as SYNCHRO in the card text. You need a tuner type monster (literally a monster that specifies it's a TUNER in the card text) and a non tuner monster, which is any monster. The levels of those 2 (or more at times) have to add up to the level of the synchro monster you wanna summon. So stardust dragon that's a level 8 can be summoned with a level 4 tuner and a level 4 non tuner, or a level 1 tuner and a level 7 non tuner, you get the point.
Xyz summoning is reserved for the cards with the black border that go into your extra deck and they also specify themselves as XYZ in the card text. These need 2 or more monsters of the same level to be summoned, so 2 level 4s or 3 level 3s etc. The monsters you use for the xyz summon go UNDER the xyz monster that comes from the extra deck to the field, and can be used as materials (or tributes in a way) for the xyz monster to activate some effect. You basically activate an effect at a cost of sending an inactive monster to the graveyard.
Pendulum summoning involves both your hand and the extra deck. It can be done by getting 2 cards that form a pendulum scale, which is a range whose bounds are indicated by the numbers on the cards. You put them face up in the spell/trap zone (or pendulum zone if you're from 2017) to form the scale, and then you can summon multiple monsters from your hand or FACE UP from the extra deck whose levels are within the scale. So with a scale of 1 to 8 you can summon monsters from levels 2 to 7, with a scale of 3 to 6 you can summon level 4 and 5. Pendulum monsters actually go face up in the extra deck if they're destroyed by battle, otherwise they go to the graveyard, so you can resummon them if you want afterwards, given your opponent destroyed them by battle.
Pendulums can also be combined with monsters of the same levels for xyz summons, or also with involving tuners for synchros, and that's what makes them actually really fun to use, you can get really creative with them.
Link monsters can be summoned from the extra deck by tributing the number of effect monsters the link monster indicates, and those are summoned in the extra monster zone where they have to point to effect monsters equal to the link rating listed on the bottom right of the card. Depending on the arrows on the card, they can also be summoned in the main monster zone, with your other monsters, so long as they have monsters where the arrows are pointing. They don't have a defense position, only attack. So, a link 2 monster with an arrow pointing the the left and another one to the right needs to be summoned in between 2 effect monsters. Apart from that they're more or less like effect monsters themselves.
yeah, i stopped playing a while back, none of what you just said makes any sense to me, and I'm glad i stopped playing
Nah gotta correct you on the Pendulum cards chief. It's not just battle that let's them go to the extra deck.
If it's from your hand those cards will go the graveyard (discard etc.).
But Pendulum cards (on the field,S/Ts) used for tribute, link, synchro, fusion will always go to the Extra deck face up. If a fusion materials is from the hand it's going to the GY. If they're the materials for an XYZ they'll be sent in the GY too when that xyz sends materials later.
The pendulum scales you used when destroyed will also go to the Extra deck face up too. (edit 3)Unless those got their activations negated by Solemn traps.
I have a headache reading this, but I much appreciate the effort.
Sweet Jesus
@@FrankToastySo if the Pendulum monster's activation of effect is negated, they will go to GY, and if the effect itself is negated, they will go face-up to the Extra Deck? And is this only when they are scales (i.e. Spell/trap), or if they are currently a monster on the field too?

@@DerVasto you can t normal summon or special summon after you activated Red-Eyes Fusion :/
@@KamenFD What I mean was you summon Comet-Black Meteor Dragon *through* Red-Eyes Fusion, it´s the thing you summon with the spell.
Furthermore, it has 3500 ATK, and the Fusion spell makes its name "Red-Eyes B. Dragon", so Inferno Fire Blast works with it, meaning 3x Fire Blast in 1 turn targeting that fusion monster results in 10.500 damage, well over lethal.

"I'm just going to play duel links" is so funny 'cause xyz and synchro are in the game
Yeah, but even though the "It's called the fusion deck" crowd hate those, they are not that hard to understand. Synchro is basically fusion that uses levels instead of the monster types themselves, and xyz still had a fusion-like base, in spite of the attached gimmick. Pendulum was really the first "wtf is this sh!t?" moment.

For me was when i learned that the
Egyptian gods weren't as broken as in the show 😂
@@chrono2208 i still want a Slifer in my deck just for the sake of having a badass god in mha fuckin' hand.
And i mean the red original card that you cannot use in a duel
Is it me or does these guys make Yu-Gi-Oh more relatable for all of us.
massive respect for these guys.
Going to locals
Expectation: 10+ people there for Yugioh
Reality: 10+ people there for Magic
To be fair, Magic is probably more balanced and slower than Yugioh. XD
This is too true for my local card shop as well.
@@mathunit1 Nope, I think it's about the same. My friend plays this stun deck that doesn't allow me to use spells when he gets his Plainswalker and also has a spell that is pretty much Dark Hole... A board wipe and a flood gate.
MTG has similar ideals, but at a slower and simpler pace for sure.
bcuz ppl with low iQ cant learn link summon but magic is so eaiser
@@aryaakouy4542 whats magic?
3:14 how my math teacher explains it
3:01 how the indian guy on youtube explains it

True
HUH JOTARO!!!
to f***ing true
As someone totally new to the game this is both hilarious and real. Loved it!
"No one plays traps anymore."
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The opening packs/cynet mining skit hit home so hard
"Two water beasts and a Kaiju, whatever it must work" also really hit home
Water Fronts actually.
Opened avramax my first 4 packs
More like a 41 cards deck with upstart goblin
@@dbomba +1000 IQ
Sad part is, I don't even know how to play Yu-Gi Oh, and only play MtG, and this video still hit home.
MtG walked so ygo could run... far away with all our money. checks out.
MTG was the inspiration for this game, so...
@@alchemist824 that's true but MTG never realized until it was too late, being a card game doesn't mean you have to stop at mere cardboard. YGO knew this and that's why we have official highest grossing status in movies, books, TV shows, video games, AND merch lol. Magic the gathering has never even come close to a single movie on the big screen let alone 30 years of iconic nonstop TV shows with beloved characters, 50 video games including the major competitive clients, books that have sold 100 million copies instead of like 30,000 lmao. Merch Nonstop. YGO is a media empire MTG is merely a great game
@@ExtraVictory That's certainly... a take.
Thats not a take its the truth wtf do you mean. Yugioh is litterly one of the highest grossing franchises period, not just cards @sherlockhooves574
Just got back into Yugioh after not playing for 8 years cause of Master Duel and these new meta decks, pendulum and link summons are crazy. The deck building part killed me cause I went through the same type of thing when I made Glads years ago lmao
This is the best content I’ve seen in a long time anywhere 😂
0:32 it's a $50 card.
Bends it attempting a high five/handshake 😂
lol i saw that😂 that handshake was so awkward damn
I love the effort that went into editing this one, with the color differences between expectations and reality.
" A round of Gwent? "
The tournament guy with his cards killed me 😂

A: I activated my monsters effect-
B: You know what? don't matter. Veile-
A: -from my graveyard
B: (Oh F*ck.....)
"You changed the state of the game because you used Veiler on a non-legit target. You're disqualified. I win. JUDGE!"
“They can’t be that much, they’re just cards”
What followed after... honestly was too real.
I think my largest Yu-Gi-Oh Wake Up Call was when I started to go to card shops to play and would get OTK'd by Meta decks. I personally like to do challenges such as having a non-YGO player make me a deck or just to shuffle random cards I have and see what's playable. When push comes to shove and I just wanna win, I don't do it cheaply.
(new to channel, dont know the actors names) but I LOVE The subtle use of different actors during the Trading Cards and Deck Help skits when the swap happens. Nice touch!
"go play blue eyes or something"
Im feeling personally ofended and atacked at the same time right now
Screw the money I have rules shit did I just kill that joke
Yeah me too
Bruh my blue eyes deck is my most iconic
I actually have an up to date strong af blue-eyes deck
Ryan Van - That's awesome! So do I.
Expectation: "I guess I'll start building my own deck then."
Reality: "Here is a list of all the cards you need to have in your deck if you want any chance of winning. Just go out and buy this exact deck and play it the way the guide tells you to play it. So basically, the person who originally created that deck and strategy is playing through you, and you're just following every one of their instructions with no room for thinking on your own. Fun, right?"
What are you even talking about if you just copy the winning strategy you will instantly lose your advantage over the actually good players who already startet to innovate on that strategy. im sorry but i feel like you never played real yugioh my friend.
Um I feel like you haven't been playing yugioh.....because that guy is correct most decks are just copy and paste with a few changes if any at all
If you're going to talk to people like that then know what you're talking about
@@PatternLand I think the one who has no idea is you. To noobs who crie about 3 monsters being summoned it looks like lists are the same but: tech cards, side deck , different card numbers are the things that make the difference between losers and winners.
@@w.s.7567 at want point then I say I have a problem with side decks or multiple summons in one turn? I've used decks that do that for the last 8 years lmao
1:58 I never build my decks based on other people's decks I build based on how I want it to be. Every person at my locals that plays "meta" decks gets so upset when banlists come out because their cards get hit but ban lists have pretty much never touched my best deck(gravekeepers) apart from the occasional errata.
4:12 I remember I was 15 in this little tournament and this dude in his late 20s was acting just like this. People are sad
the tournament reality
ive dealt with exactly "that guy"
many times lol
meanwhile im like
"i just want to play a card game man..."
"Reality is often disappointing."
Very disappointing.
If Thanos was a duelist, he could make any card he wants and draw any card he wants lmao
maybe he'll make a deck where his strategy relies on having no cards in his hand XD (so he can make a fist)
@@sakonan4883 that would mean he is using an infernity deck.
Fabian BETETA hmm infernity equals fire, fire equals ash, this puts a smile on his face 😂
Don Thousand was like Thanos....
The end was the best.." How much can this be... There just cards... Show 400+$ 🤣🤣🤣
I used to be like this a decade ago, always checking the official yugioh website if some cards will be taken off the ban list and then plan what cards to use. And i bought alot of booster packs that i started using shoe box to keep all my cards. So nostalgic seeing this.
The learning to play part is so true. I recently got back to playing on dueling nexus. Had some fun, built a fun deck and had even matches with friends. Then I faced randoms and learned the horror that I link monsters or whatever. The dude had like a three minute turn
It took me forever to learn how to even summon the links. And this was when I first got into yugioh. (I only read enough of the rule book to know the basics, tho) but I’m still an adequate duelist
In my experience (I only play online), you’re quite lucky if your opponent has a 3 minute turn, and it’s much worse in games like Master Duel only because of lag. I once sat for 20 minutes waiting for this guy to get through one turn, and he only played like 13 cards
Me: draws 4 exodia cards at the beginning and doesn’t pick up the last one until your opponent has won and there’s only 1 card left in the deck
once was dueling my rother and drew all 5 pieces on the first turn
@@TheGuestLeader your rother?

The cart price at the end though so true haha
When you realise half of it is shipping costs as well
@@rorymaddock7468 Yes because you get cards from different sellers. I spent 100$ for my deck and 20 were just for shipping

This reminds me of that episode where spongebob tried to get that mermaid man and barnacle boy card that was very rare lol.
"Mermaidman says: Buy more cards!"
Lol
Should make an old school yugioh (speed duel doesn’t count) where it doesn’t go past yugioh GX. Synchros and xyz ain’t that bad but the pendulum and link sh!t can leave
Old school would bring me back to the game so fast.
I feel like they made those rules for people who really couldn't play .. c'mon several high level monsters summoned at the same time with no sacrifice is bs
@@xxxmetalslugga5349 I dont think he meant that far back just eliminate all the ridiculous nonsense we have now although it was inevitable that yugioh has gotten to this point I mean you'd be lucky to make it past the fourth turn without your opponent taking like 5-10 min setting up his/her entire field making it impossible to do anything when literally any move you make will cause a flood of bullshit to annihilate you with little effort
it exists: Duel Links
@@johnathanalexander7996 I play old school on my pc, much more entertaining when you have the time to process wtf is going on. It's not about making the card complex, it's about being able to form complex strategies with simple effects. This is so true. I literally told my friends "f#£k the meta" and built me a fun crystal beast deck with no hand traps

@@BullMat55 yeah but only in the dub. Sub definitely has death.

Expectation: play a duel!
Reality: Second turn Aka = OTK
Its actually called 3 turn kill as the second turn you can barely even summon or activate anything cause the opponents entire deck negates everything. Then you end your turn the opponent kills you so fast
I like helping people build their decks, it's a good way of sharing your knowledge while gaining knowledge at the same time. Dark Worlds, Six Samurai, and Nordics are my specialty.
Yeah. That’s basically how it goes. Especially piling up the cards during deck building and taking them from the other person😂

It was a very crisp fity dolla bill.
