I would assume that more people ended up immigrating during biden's time im office because they applied towards the end of trump's term. So it's to be expected that the immigration would be finalized a year or so later.

I moved here when I got offered a job in Calgary (the most American city in Canada as I am told). The people in Calgary are easy to strike up chats with and I see lots of different ethnicities and cultures (as a caucasian). I guess because Alberta is the energy province and has that in common with texas is why they say Calgary is like that. But, I notice many people from all over the world make their home here (so it must be welcoming which is not typically american). The weather is for sure interesting.... ;) [apparently, reading is not essential]

Services and applications or paperwork for citizens was stalled under trump years. The country was rotting away. Finally, good work and programs are functioning again. Lots of US Citizens came here during the 70's too. Rarely does one go back. Health services, programs for all ages, no income tax on a Lottery win or any other win, extra safety from firearms, and workers are protected with PAID vacation, holiday, maternity time, or injury rights. Great videos from your channel ! cheers !

Job security? You mean working for Tim Hortons for 15 CAD/h? There are hardly any good jobs around here (Nova Scotia). You have to be self employed or have your own business and both come with its own challenges and there is certainly no job security in it. Teachers are probably an exception and they are doing extremely well here (I dont think there is any other job that pays so much money for the time working and it is indeed a safe job and excellent pension and union).

Thank you for this. As an American who has moved to Canada your video is spot on. I often struggle to summarize all these topics when people ask me about the move, now I can just send them this video. The only thing I would point out regarding the political aspect is that I personally find that regardless of who is the current President, the same political climate and political issues remain ingrained into the fabric of the society and culture itself.

Same! We’ve been interested in moving out of the US for years. Political climate and horrible healthcare were tops but now we have two girls and I can’t ever see myself sending my children to any public school in any part of the country. The education system has been a joke even when I was a kid but now it’s absolutely dangerous and backwards. There’s just way too many pros to leaving than to staying. We’d love to visit and consider Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Europe in general, even New Zealand but Canada seems more realistic but definitely want more real accounts of American emigrants.

    Interesting.
Thanks for putting out this informative video..
Reason 1 made me fall of my chair.
Last i read, some americans humorously commented that they'd move to canada if trump got elected. Never heard that for biden( and his number is higher).
    IMO,
This could be a function of underlying seasonal factors outside of the presidential victory of Biden.
Better if data is analyzed pre post victory of Biden for a shorter time frame, say month over month to validate if insight no 1 is true : More immigrants enter canada due to biden's victory.
    What do you think?

    • @MakeThatChange

It could be that immigration takes a while and by the time the new president is selected the previous wave of Americans move (those who started immigration because of Trump). But we couldn't find more solid confirmation on that. If anyone finds anything, it would be an interesting read 😊

There's probably a lag on how US election cycles affect immigration, since one doesn't just up and move to Canada one day, it can take years to line up the pieces. My wife and I do consider the possibility of political violence in our calculation to move to Canada, at least as much as any frustration with policy or political deadlock. One thing I was surprised to see not make the list was climate anxiety. Maybe people just don't understand how bad it's going to get, but Canada is poised to be a great place to ride out a hotter planet, for ourselves but particularly for our newborn daughter.

Your comparison of immigrants during Trump to Biden eras is seriously flawed. REmember, these applications take time and have you examined each one to know when they were initiated? Also, an applicant can be simply fed up and leave for fear of Trump returning to power in 2024 and leave US & A despite their favourite candidate being in power at the White House. Remember, Trump's 2024 campaign still dominates the news 4 years after he lost.

If you want to move to Canada, you should really check out the taxation of your wages,,provincial tax, Goods and Services Tax, gas tax, carbon emissions tax and income tax. In the end you will probably ending up paying roughly 50 % of your earned money to taxes. I would advise you to stay away from Canada.

Overcrowed grocery stores, malls, concerts or any other event.
The destruction of community centres, hockey arenas, grocery stores and hospitals, just to build more condos.
The elimination of any culture of community. All local pubs gone.
No need for amenities that the city has to pay for like pools or arenas anymore.

Since this post is 3 months old, there is an update. The last bowling alley will be closing soon.
The recreation centre with a pool and Gym are schedule to be torn down soon.
We also lost a roller skating arena.
The 7 story outpatient hospital is a condo tower.
Instead of concerts all the time like they had in the 20th century, we have a cover band playing in a pub considered "an event" now.
Maybe you think society is better in the 21st century. But from my perspective there is way less culture now.
Of course they cancelled the Santa parade again.
Actually Vancouver only has protest parades now.
      No more sea festival.
      Italian days is a day.
When there actually is a concert, you pay $500 to see singing and dancers, but no band.
I couldn't care less where the immigrants come from. They could all be Irishman each carry a million dollars. It doesn't matter.
Packing more people into the country solves nothing.
Why should I have to pay for housing with my tax dollars for other people.

As a gay person, I moved states in the U.S. to get to a more welcoming area. I still would prefer living in Canada because the politicians seem to despise those in the LGBTQ community or they stay silent on the issue. Mass media likes to keep the issue going as if it is a two-sided debate on whether or not gay, bisexual, lesbian, or trans individuals should have any rights at all. It isn’t a question, in my opinion. I don’t really think either party truly stands up for LGBTQ people at the end of the day. Democrats seem to be quiet most of the time.
