He counted every card dealt and kept track of every players hand. This is one of Patrick J Adams' badass scenes.

His wife played a role as his lover
His dad played a role as his old law school professor
Gabriel Macht is living the dream
And his daughter played the lover's niece
Gabriel also got to shoot alongside his best friend for all 9 Seasons.
Don't forget Sarah Rafferty is his bff and he put in her name for Donna. So he got to star alongside his best friend of over 20 years.

I like this show because you don’t really have to worry about “Who is getting killed off this episode” and the witty comedy is actually hilarious.
People do die on this show. They get Litt up
One of the writers of the show wanted Jessica to die but the network prevented it.

"You would do it for someone else. But not for me. Your dad"
Classic rule for those who teach ethics:
"Did you ever see a roadsign that walks in the direction it is pointing?"
I googled this and can not find what you’re talking about and I’d like to understand how that statement relates to ethics.
Does it mean the sign points one way and it will never ever walk the other way regardless of temptation, and that’s ethically how people should be too?
@@JopzzSD It is a translated quote from the german ethic philosopher Max Scheler. Apparently he once was asked, after visiting a brothel, how that can be explained with the ethics he teaches. He then said "Der Wegweiser geht auch nicht den Weg, den er weist" ("the roadsign does not walk the path that it points to").
It is meant as a justification, that someone who is teaching ethics doesn't necessarily has to be ethical themselves.
@@ottokarl5427 that is very clever! It’s similar to a coach teaching a sport he cannot play, or giving somebody advice that you don’t follow yourself but you know is the right advice.
Thank you for explaining, that’s really cool to know there is more depth in things than I realize.
@@JopzzSD Exactly like that. It is of course a small line between that and being a hypocrite, but it can also be applied for education. A parent that smokes still can tell their children to not smoke etc.
And no problem, happy to help :)
@@JopzzSD No it means that a roadsign only points in a direction, but it stays stationary. It doesn't walk in that direction. "Pointing in a direction" is analogous to teaching ethics. "walking in that direction" is analogous to living the ethics you teach.
the moment Professor Gerard says: "This is about ethics" and comes face to face with Harvey, maybe one of the most tense moments on the show. Great Shot

Ok boomer
@@jordanbarba7921 can confirm ive been playing poker 2015 and ive gone to some local tournaments ive never once heard it like that either chief
sooo what do you call it?
It depends on where you play, midwest players, northeastern, southern tend to have different nomenclature. "Queens Over" and "Two Pair Queens and Nines". They even have names for hands like Flat Tire (J4) or Dolphins ( 66 or 99). IMO Queens Over are just easier to say, and it most likely doesn't matter to say the Nines part.

Small detail but there actually could be 4 queens in the hand (if we're talking texas hold em)! Player that folds before Gerard holds 2 queens. The man with two pair can have one queen in his hand and another on the board. Gerard can complete his queen high flush using the same queen on the board (without holding one directly in his hand). However, although the action in the hand is possible, it is still pretty unlikely.
Exactly. Say it's Q clubs 7 clubs 5 clubs on board and he has J of clubs 10 of clubs, it's still technically considered at Q high flush. If somebody else has a flush smaller than the Q on board, say 3 of clubs 4 of clubs, they both have Q high flushes, but they go to 2nd highest card, 3rd highest card, etc.
It is always money over ethics
Why am I watching this entire series here?
well where im from, there are 6 queens in a deck
Are you from Gerard's imagination?
@@sudheesh89 no, then there would only be 5 as you saw in the video

Mike is always so dramatic lol! "He's lying!" SUITS got so dramatic
I like Mike character alot. He got a bit annoying at times, he acted all righteous at times. It was his way or no way attitude at times, was bit annoying. Even though as Trevor said to him he was breaking the law everyday. Thing about suits is the characters are not perfect, they have flaws, makes them more human.
These two are phenomenal. Father and son, but the disdain between the two characters is almost palpable.

@@alexman378 Mike, well at least most of the time.
That’s the point tho… he didn’t know how to tie his tie. He got better over time.
I can't believe he is Harvey's dad
I miss this show
Gerard's account is possible, if one of the Q was on the board and not in Gerard's hand. Saying you have a "Queen-high flush" doesn't necessarily mean the Q was in Gerard's hand. E.g., Gerard could have had a 9 and 10 of that suit. Also, the player with two pair presumably had Q6 in his hand, meaning there had to a Q and a 6 on the board, the same Q that made Gerard's flush.
perjury would render harvey's words useless and thats his selling point. he's the best closer because his word is rock solid.
The professor has a great hair
players mainly only remember hands they lose and not the ones they win ...
What the concept about "ethics"? Cause I don't think accepting money for a grade is very ethical.
This actor is actually the father of the actor who plays Harvey!!!
Father son arguing
Mike said he was kicked out of Atlantic City for counting cards, however, New Jersey law prevents casinos from banning players, unless they are caught cheating. Counting cards is not cheating, but simply a strategy that allows a player to legally decrease the house edge, and therefore is not a bannable offense. Even if he was caught counting cards, the casinos would be unable to do anything about it. If he was caught counting card in Vegas, however, they could ban him from the casino completely, as casinos are considered private clubs. However, even in Vegas it is more likely the casino would ban him from playing blackjack, but allow him to play any other game, as there's no way to legally beat the house edge in any other casino game.
Card counting is also possible in Poker
@@jaderulz2000 counting is not possible in poker, as counting requires you to see all the cards in play to be effective, and in poker you only see your cards and not those of other players, so you can never get an accurate count, and following each hand in poker, all cards are shuffled into deck, which would essentially return the count to 0 whereas in blackjack, cards are dealt face up, so you can see everyone's entire hand, and cardfrom one hand are discarded once the hand is finished, so the count remains unchanged between hands. Shuffle/Ace tracking is a technique used by some high level card counters, which could potentially gain you a small edge in poker, but shuffle tracking is something completely different than counting.
We never found out what the money was for… i hate not knowing

@@alexman378 I mean did Gerard really need the money?
@@tintocherian7715 If he took it to change a grade, probably
In the ethics class, the teacher told them that circumstances didn't matter. As such, Harvey would not let him say why he took the money.
there couldn’t have been a queen on the board with both of the others having a queen in their hand? come on writers that’s reasonable
I think the point was that it was reasonable but unlikely. Moreover, it was told to him by a man who Harvey knows, trusts and respects to remember and understand complex portions of cases or laws. Also, he reacted and moved way to nervous during that scene, enough so that it could have also clued Mike in.
You can have a Q high flush without holding a Q in your hand. This scene was bad researched.
Why are their ties CGI? Rofl

Daddy, you have been so naughty.
Well actually casinos use at least two full decks in each shuffle, so there’s 8 queens in play at any given time.. so makes total sense. Unless he was playing illegal backyard poker.
Two Queens, a queen and a six and a queen on the board. Sorry, suits, it still works. Better poker next time.
@@Bout2BLuckyy gerard doesnt necessarily have a queen, there can be one on the board which completes his queen high flush, player 2 has a queen and a 6, player 3 has 2 queens. All the hands add up, and there are only 4 queens.
