Show Synopsis: "Suits" delves into the fast-paced, high-stakes world of a top Manhattan corporate law firm where hotshot associate Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht, “Love & Other Drugs”) makes a risky move by hiring Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams, “Old School”) a brilliant but unmotivated college dropout, as his associate. As he becomes enmeshed in this unfamiliar world, Mike relies heavily on the firm’s best paralegal Rachel (Megan Markle, “Horrible Bosses”) and Harvey's no-nonsense assistant Donna (Sarah Rafferty, “Brothers & Sisters”) to help him serve justice. With a photographic memory and the street smarts of a hustler, Mike proves to be a legal prodigy despite the absence of bonafide legal credentials.

I'm surprised Harvey didn't punch him. Imagine your mother told you as a child to keep a bad secret from your family, one that could wreck it. Then your brother does the exact same thing with his daughter. Then has the audacity to ask for your help without even being truthful. I would be livid
Or when they were younger, when his brother blamed him for tearing their family apart for not keeping that secret. That was an actual example of victim-blaming since their mom forced him to keep her secrets, was told that if she cheated again that he wouldn't keep the secret anymore, then proceeded to bring the man she was cheating on their father with to their family dinner. Mike's arrival was a gift as he was the brother Harvey deserved.
It's not exactly the same thing as cheating and gambling are quite different. But yeah, it's still quite terrible
@@ethrsag735 True. Marcus was weak in character and never once considered Harvey's feelings in the matter. Everything was about how he felt.
Because it was not in script to punch him
Ohhhh he waanted to, if my brother did something like that he's gonna get a few bones broken
Things like this actually make Harvey a sympathetic character
Literally the pain in his eyes when he says "hes my brother, what am i supposed to do?".....his tolerance is 👑
So Marcus rudely demands that Harvey should help him like Harvey owes him something, lies that he cheated (which their mother had done and it traumatized Harvey) and it turned out he gambled and made his daughter keep a secret (which their mother had also done and it also traumatized Harvey). The audacity.
Marcus doesnt deserve Harvey, Mike is his true brother
It's goes a little deeper than that.
Mike is more like his kid.

After what we know about their mother and how Harvey feels about his mother, lying about the gambling and saying it was an affair was better than being honest and saying he relapsed??

Watched this video for 100 times. Harvey is my kind of person ❤
The right solution would have been to get someone else from the firm on the case.
You know Harvey's heart is in the right place when you see him rendering services to his family.
From my own experience, family and friends have a bad habit of being arguably the most frustrating cases and the worst clients.
I mean his brother cheated which is one of his worst traumas
Because they'll resort to emotional blackmail ("You HAVE to help us BECAUSE FAAAAAAAAMILY!") and information-dieting ("I didn't think you needed to know this.") and gaslighting ("Outsiders don't have a right to know anything about our business.")

I only watched because of Billy Miller rip. I'm a fan of his since Y&R
I loved this show. And for people to say it's unrealistic is weird. It's entertainment. So it's ok to believe in superman , batman, wonderwoman, the flash, John Wick and so on. And one of my favorites, Perry Mason. Dude only lost once.
It's as if people know the superhero movies are fantasy (from my observation they don't 😏) but expect legal and medical dramas to based in reality.
@@2EKgn16 I think the biggest issue with the expectations of legal/medical shows to be realistic, is that people don't seem to understand that the law realistically is SO BORING to watch 9 times out of 10. Medicine doesn't have so much drama and is just a lot of talking and operating. The second they make a 'realistic' show, people will be bored by episode 2 😅
I had read somewhere once that the show was to reflect Wall Street values and methods of business which I think the show does. I just started binge watching the show about a month ago. It's a bit of a bittersweet thing because I think the characters are great but there is so much back stabbing, constant loss/change of leadership, and so forth that I wish it was more of an episode to episode serial and less of a soap opera if that makes sense. I would think if this was a real law firm, it would have sunk under its own discord years ago. And I am a fan of comic books. :)
@@2EKgn16If u expect legal and medical dramas to be based in reality then you are a fool.
@@MortalJusticeExactly! And cases and settlements take years which these dramas cant portray. TV time has to be different.

I finally caved and started watching the series, of course I’m overlooking the obvious plot hole that New York already has laws in place to apprenticeship people who have not gone to law school….
Are you also overlooking the fact that their firm only hires Harvard grads as associates? Cause that's the whole point.
I would be giga surprised if any firm would only hire from one school…. Maybe if it’s like top 5 or 10. But one school alone seems giga far fetched, only reason it’s within the show is to carry the plot :}
@@patrickcarrera5956 There's a lot, and i mean A LOT, of big companies within different fields, not only law, that have an actual written rule to only hire graduates from a specific university (sometimes a couple) because of the prestige it brings with it, or the work methodology taught there. Several hundred students graduate from Harvard Law each year, and this being one of the top firms, they also choose between a couple of them each year, it's not that uncommon. I used to work at a design firm that also only hired students (graduates or still studying) from a specific university.
Yeah I kept noticing stuff like that. If these guys were real lawyers, they would be considered idiots. They break rules they don't even need to break.
@@mrpeanutbutter6817 HLS has never had the #1 ranked law school or the highest average LSAT since rankings began or LSAT scores were tracked. To only hire from HLS would saying to clients that we don't actually have the best lawyers. Suits is a TV show. The lawyers depicted don't exist in real life because no highly paid lawyer has more than 1 practice field. Decent drama tho

Marcus is such an idiot-he demanded his brother to come down and be his lawyer but he didn’t think to tell him why they were getting divorced? As if it was never going to come up, it left Harvey completely unable to prepare his case.
Beside that my little job
6:14 That was a Harvey move and he knows his way to help. He will go after anything. RIP to BJ Miller in Real Life.
No I'm a notary it a hobby
Actually, Katie has no legal way to take and keep Marcus away from the kids. Unless he is violent, which he isn't, their is no grounds to get full custody. Marcus is not an unfit father. Also people in these comments, don't realize is that the sister in law has put the kids at risk, Harvey has a list. So both Marcus and his wife make mistakes. So the commentors who spoke against me, need a wake up call.
Technically they could call it parental manipulation which deems him an unfit father.
He has a gambling problem
she has. he manipulated his child for his gambling problem. and in 9 out of 10 cases, the mother gets custody.
That’s completely false and she does have grounds. He asked his kid to conceal his transgression which a court would look at as harmful conduct in the mental health and well being of a child. Esp if it is something he’s had a history of doing. He would get visitation and be ordered to parenting classes if he wanted more.
They could say Marcus was endargering the kids, you know how casinos are when you're in debt.
Once you cheat its done
Wow, there is forgiveness in the USA shows?
8:20 Harvey's right.
i swear this show is just people finishing each other’s sentences. i dont understand the how its so popular 😭
Harvey first tough case he had to try really hard to make an effort
In this show there have been a number of high stakes battles, but none of them were as dangerous and fraught as what went on in this conference room. It is in family law that emotions rule the room, and the law goes out the window.
Don't believe me?? Just look at the recent case in Las Vegas, where a lawyer had a gun and shot and killed three people, including himself, during exactly this type of negotiation.
Law to easy
Earning money is an action. Keeping money is behavior, but "Growing money is wisdom," I found out a week ago.
CZcams really gotta handle these BS bot posts
You know the world is messed up when things only get serious when the guy has a gambling problem .. sleeping with someone else on the other hand.. nah no biggie
You're overlooking a couple things there. 1: Harvey wanted to beat his brother up when he told him he cheated, but chose to help anyway. 2: Marcus lied about cheating to cover up that he was gambling again and 3: He told his daughter to lie for him and keep his secret, which is what Harvey and Marcus' mother did to them when they were kids. So it's a little more layered than you made it out.

Made with HARPA AI
bro really needed to AI suits 💀
The entire series is so, so unrealistic. Lawyers must be specialized just like doctors. A lawyer working in corporate arbitrage would never be engaging in the highly-specialized field of divorce law. Furthermore, there is no way any lawyer, brother-in-law or not, would ever contact directly the opposing party without opposing counsel present.
Yeah thats right but they needed to keep the show interesting. So that probably is why they did this.
Very unrealistic, but it was his sister in law as well. So who knows, and the way they represented Harvey as one of the best lawyers in the United States, he’d probably get away with being a divorce lawyer temporarily. Lawyers are lawyers at the end of the day, despite what field they’re working in.
“Must be” is wrong. They don’t have to be specialized - it benefits them to be, allows them to be hired by firms and legitimizes them in their field. Specialized means limiting their practice to areas they have experience in.
Not really, but I'm not an expert like you people apparently are.
I'm curious whether it actually would be an ethics violation. He hadn't actually been retained as his lawyer yet when he went to speak to her. I'd be curious to hear an actual lawyer chime in here. My gut feeling is he wouldn't be sanctioned but he also wouldn't be permitted to represent him after that
