- I head out in a rainstorm to go winter camping with my dog. We setup the canvas tent and woodstove to keep warm from the cold weather. The rain is relentless, and doesn't stop all night but we manage to have an enjoyable night camping in the woods!

I respect your choice to keep your children off line; too many experts warn that nefarious individuals will do awful things with those photos, or worse, come looking for those children. I say keep them offline, until they are old enough to do their own channel. We don't need to see everything about your life and family; you show us enough content to keep us satisfied.

To answer your question about content. Most people who subscribe really just want to see more of what they've seen in the past, whereas the new, experimental stuff will always be met with mixed reviews. Some people who like the camping where it's pretty light and you've brought along your food, won't really care for, or will even hate seeing you kill and cook on site. I personally enjoyed the video of you setting up camp, going out with your shotgun, bagging a squirrel, and cooking it there with some fixings you brought. I wouldn't mind seeing more of it! Just understand that people have made careers out of demonizing hunters and killing for food is something many folks these days are not exposed to, so it will simply not sit well with those kinds of people. No disrespect meant.

I quite like the mix of what he has on his channel, however I do miss his more bushcraft survival shelter videos, but I do recognize they are also uncomfortable and cold compared to a tent, so it's not realistic to do regularly as it's a misery to make a video out of.
Content- my favorite videos are the bushcraft shelters. Always hoping for more of those. Or maybe as a twist- making shelters or camping in different types of terrain such as amidst some boulders or rock ledges, build into a hill or shoreline. Always love seeing Jax and your Pops.
For me, just keep making the videos you enjoy doing! I’m not someone who hunts, but I can appreciate the reason why it is done in this case. More importantly, I appreciate the content you keep uploading. Keep up the good work and I don’t think you could have put it any better when commenting on keeping the family private. I love the hunting content and think it’s important to teach people where food comes from and how hard it is to obtain without a farmer/supermarket. I also love the different camping and sleeping setups you use and learning what the benefits/downsides of each are. But honestly judging from the other comments I read we all really just enjoy you doing you mate keep it up.
my favorites to watch have been you and your dad building things together. I also like the tips you give about surviving in an emergency with what you have on you.

Hey Mike, I have enjoyed watching all of your content over the years, and I have to say you do you brother, I like it all, camping, hunting, bushcraft, fishing, etc etc. i say just continue doing what you do. I know you asked us to comment below in the comments but I think if you just keep doing what you do, it will appeal to all of your audience.
The content I’d like to see more of is bushcraft style videos. Different ways of starting fires. Different fire lays. Different wood to use for different things.
Winter camping, stormy outdoors and cooking are all content faves of mine.
What do I enjoy watching? Whatever you enjoy showing. Your ball, your yard, your rules.

I enjoyed watching people building different shelters, overnight or a multi-day camping, hunting, trapping, fishing, foraging and survival type of videos. I also like watching homesteading channels.
Tactical gear Jax is the cutest thing ever! these are my fave kind on episodes. I like to watch these while I drink my morning tea.
I love the big project content. Viking house and camp building. Forest management was pretty cool. But, most of all it's always nice to see father and son get together and build something together.
I don't mind the hunting videos, and my friends talked about this too. They said if they didn't want to see it, they just wouldn't watch that episode. If people complain, they don't have to watch. Do everything, you ask us what we want, we want everything. There's so many of us, you CAN NOT go wrong. people always complain, and always will. Remember that's 1 voice in a 2.37 Million..
Content I like to see is tips, hints, knowledge of the wild, how you sharpen your blades, how you make traps, sometimes just plane camping, bushcraft. But more importantly, I like to see you doing YOUR thing.

this sort of video is definitely my favourite, with the overnight camping and cooking, with or without the dog. they're the only ones i watch on this channel. i think it's ridiculous that people are upset with you for not showing your family.

Hello Mike, I haven't been camping in quite a few years but in my younger days we would finish setting up camp, collect fire wood, get the fire going and then prepare a really nice supper. later sitting around the fire the beers would come out and perhaps some ginger brandy and we would joke and tell stories...the stories were always better when we broke out the brandy...funny how that works. This would continue sometimes till 2am and we didn't have to worry about the neighbors deep in the woods of Maine, we were pretty much alone in the wilderness. I really enjoyed that time around the fire...So Mike these are the things I enjoy watching along with building things around the camp. This is why enjoy your channel and I get a big kick out of watching Jaxx and his back pack, that dog is a character. Also send my regards to your dad I love watching him as well..he is too funny. Your best content is when your spending time with your father. I imagine we maybe fortunate enough to view your father spending time with your children and yourself. Then when that day comes you will be spending time with your children and their dreams. It has been an honor watching you and your family dream big and try to capture it all for us.

Mike, for me, I enjoy the solo camping episodes (particularly the hot tent camping) and the bushcraft art of fashioning tools and items with your axe and knife. Having your dog along only makes it more enjoyable. I also appreciate your decision to keep your family private to these episodes - probably a wise choice. Great video and keep doing what you do...
Hey Mike. To answer your question, i actually enjoy pretty much every type of video you make. The reason primarily being that if a person is surviving, they would not just build shelter or fish or hunt. They would do all of those and more. However, it’s all up to you. Keep up the good work👍

I enjoy watching the building of shelters and then seeing them being used for camping.
For me as far as content, it is more enjoyable to watch a creator who is truly enjoying what they are doing. It the creator is not enjoying what they are doing it shows . So do what you enjoy truly to make it the best all around.

Anyone complaining about not seeing your family is being entitled - your kids’ wellbeing is far more important than any CZcams video.
I enjoy all your content, and think you should focus on what makes you happy, since if you’re putting in all the effort of filming and editing, you might as well be doing stuff you enjoy. Having said that, I’d be happy if you did some woodland management content, as I’ve just bought 2 acres of ancient woodland up here in Northumberland (which I’m very excited about), and could do with as much info on the subject as I can get hold of!

I like watching you just do whatever you’re doing in the woods. I prefer bushcraft builds, but am happy to watch general camping, woodland management, hunting videos too. Though I may enjoy you interacting with your dad the most!
Enjoy your children... you owe no explanation to anyone. Mine are 16 and 12 now and it goes far too fast. Reminds me that seeing you and your dad have a bit of fun together in the woods is wholesome good feels.

The skinning was a bit grim, but I got over it. It's life. No different from how our meat is aquired.
I would like if you could do more videos around making your own shelter out of natural resources, showing the different types of shelter you can make.
What do I enjoy watching? I like to see the different ways people are camping (or even living) in nature. Most of all lightweight camping, by bicycle or hiking on foot, because I'm a bicyclist. I don't mind you hunting or eating meat.
I like your dog Jax. He reminds me of my doggie, she was a Jack-Russel-type too. She went on bicycle camping trips with me until last year. Now I miss her.
I really enjoyed the coastal foraging and cook up episodes. I love a bit of bush tucker.
This video was perfect, I think sometimes the best content is sometimes the simplest.. a man and he’s dog just simply enjoying the simple pleasures of the great outdoors 👍🏻

Being a veggie is luxury and I see that I would not be in a survival situation. So having some knowledge on all things survival are essential. So a spattering of everything is perfect.

Hunting might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s part of history. Not something i would chose to do, but informative. Something to know about, and brings us closer to living off the land. Which if done right, is respectful and healthy for all.
The mix of content is what keeps me coming back. Just do you.
You can't please everyone all the time so just keep doing the things you enjoy and those of us that enjoy watching will watch the videos we like and most likely even some of those we like less. I think you should continue to make the videos as you’ve been doing them. If someone doesn’t like the content of a particular video, then they can be an adult and stop watching until the next video. I applaud you and your wife for NOT putting your children on the videos until they want to. To many children have been forced on to CZcams and TikTok, etc. and it never ends well.

I love watching bushcraft skills, ive learnt so much over the years. Different ways to set up a tarp or make a fire etc.
I started watching years ago when looking for bushcraft. But as i kept watching over the years i watch any "style" of video you make. I think you're a great film maker and story teller. I respect that you keep parts of your life private as you should. Its healthy to have that balance and it shows you have a great character. Keep up the good work and congrats on all your successes.
I have a 100 lb. dog Bernese Mountain dog, and she carries all her own gear, I got her a light quilt that is washable and she loves it. she knows when the packs come out we are going to the woods. Her sisters are the same way. We cannot even bring out the gear to clean it without getting the LOOK. they will follow us for days not to get left out of the fun. First thing I noticed was Jax gear and how proud he was to wear it, did not slow him down a bit, needs a sweater and a puffy jacket for the winter, that will be next.

Keep doing what you are doing. Your family is your private space and if they want to get involved that's great. However, your privacy as a family is more important than the comments section of CZcams from a bunch of random strangers. Great videos.

What I enjoy is hanging out by the fire with you. While you share a story, amusing thought, hopes of the future, or just talking to your dog.
I don't get to camp as much as I like or in the way I wish I could. So I just like going on a trip with you through the camera.
As for hunting, I don't enjoy hunting content. But if you do then go for it. Most people eat meat and if your going to eat meat hunting is a good way to do it. And there is a lot for "normal" people to learn about hunting.
I have been drawn to your channel due to the content being in nature. I have enjoyed the builds, the camping, and the hunting. Just continue doing what you enjoy, it is what keeps me coming back.
I think you're absolutely right to protect your family , there are so many trolls and haters and putting your children on CZcams you could inadvertently end up exposing them to that which you really don't want to
In the long run, doing what you love will always be best. You will come across as more genuine and passionate versus forcing content you don't want to make.
I enjoy both camping and hunting videos you make. My dad was a hunter and I loved being out with him as he taught me archery when I was a child, and while I, myself, am not a hunter, I still enjoy the sport through outdoorsmen like yourself. Love seeing your interaction with Jax. You can tell you are buddies and his antics just make me laugh out loud! Keep those videos coming and whether you choose to film your family or not is totally your right as their father.

I have to agree with a lot of the comments on here. I’ve really enjoyed the mix of content that you’ve given us over the years. From equipment to building and hunting to exploring and camping. I really enjoyed the kayaking videos you’ve done as well. Your bushcraft and camping videos brought me in but really I stay because I enjoy your personality. I enjoy your Dad and Jax. I enjoy seeing you make the content you like. I’ve seen you light up when talking about history or when your able to learn from someone and it’s infectious! My favorite video on the whole channel was the overnight in the Viking house with the other guy sometimes comes on your channel. It was an hour or two long and the two of you cooked plenty and had some good conversations over the fire. The elements of being in a Viking house in the cold, hearty cooking, and some good times, all make for the content I like. I like most of the camping vids, and I like the vids where you camp in the medieval and old school shelters as well. Keep it up!
The part I enjoy the most is the cooking, both what is being cooked up but also just the act of cooking in the tent, especially when it rains, seems just so cozy
I like watching camping/survival videos. I also like to hear life advice from the person camping. Its def uplifting. Also, they also make silicone collapsible dog bowls too.
