Hook: Barbless jig hook (here a Lighting Strike JF2), size 14.
Bead: Slotted tungsten bead, 7/64″, gold.
Weight: Lead-free round wire, .020.
Thread: UTC 70 Denier, red.
Tails: Saddle-hackle fibers, red.
Rib: Pearl Sulky Holoshimmer Metallic Thread.
Body: Peacock herl.
Collar 1: Saddle hackle, brown.
Collar 2: Ice dub, pink.

Just wanted to say that as a northern NJ fisherman this is easily my best performing fly over the last two years. It works stupidly well for everything from stocked rainbows to native brookies under every condition I can think of. All of Lance’s patterns are top notch and this fly is no exception! I tied and fished it a ton this spring with great success. I really like the Peacock Herl substitution. I’ll have to give that a try on a few this spring. Excellent work as always Tim!
Yeah it works great for me too. I like to fish the red dart or blue dart on point and then a rainbow warrior as dropper. Guaranteed fish in the net.
I live across the river in PA and the streams I fish were flooded all year long. I used this fly as my anchor almost all year long because it worked so well. Great fly and great vid.

Nice looking fly. You are so right, we have had endless rain in the Northeast. The tail water I fish in Massachusetts is over flowing the dam and has been for months resulting in very high flow.

Great looking fly. Definitely going to tie some of these up when I get home tonight.
This was one of my first patterns I learned to tie. It catches alot of fish if fished as point. They also work great in blue. Or egan's blue dart. Except I tie my blue darts entirely in blue except for the pink dubbing collar.

I used this to nymph smaller MT water. Deadly, just deadly, especially on a two nymph euro setup.
I believe Loon makes a head cement applicator like the one in the video. Also, one can buy what are called “Oiler Boilers” (why, I have no clue) at art supply stores.
It is a Prince nymph minus the biot wings and tails.

You should do a tying demo of the clouser crayfish. Because I can't find an easy way to make it ride hook down while using the craft fur. Adding dumbell eyes makes it too bulky.

You tie all of your jig patterns with the Lighting Strike JF2 hooks, so you must like them. How is there sharpness and durability? Any other reason you go with those hooks?

You should list materials in the description. Hard to follow for beginners who have no idea what the materials actually are. I couldnt hear who sulky you used. Pearl or opal?
I had to sub small silver wire. I could not keep the pearl flashibou I was using from sliding all over the place. Anyone have similar issues or any advice?

Is there a reason you omit the tippet ribbing that Lance uses?
As a competitive angler, Lance needs his flies to be absolutely bulletproof. Needing to change a fly because of damage during a competition can mean the difference between winning and losing. For me, a recreational angler, I am far more likely to lose a fly to the bottom before it is significantly damaged by a fish. So, I go with natural peacock as opposed to more durable dubbing and use just a single strand of Sulky to protect it and omit the tippet. I've yet to replace one due to damage.
@@tightlinevideo Thanks for the reply. That makes a lot of sense. Despite how effective the Blowtorch is I find myself not wanting to tie any because they take so long (similarly with the red dart). Using herl and omitting the tippet makes them much faster. I tied up a dozen red darts in this fashion yesterday and hopefully they will produce for me today.
It would be much appreciated if you tied the big chungus fly.

Yeah, I know. I think he also uses a secondary mono rib over the Sulky.
