  • Hey DIYers, this is a video that we are excited to get out to you! We have received a lot of questions about how to make cushion covers when your current covers are lost, destroyed, or shrunk. It seems really complicated with so many unknowns. For example, should you order foam first then make the cover? How thick should the cushions be? How many bands should you make, and how long should you make them? How deep should your cushions be? We’ll go over all this and break it down into a few simple steps so you can make cushion covers from scratch without any problems.

Hey y'all. I have a question about cutting your own foam. I can't afford an expensive foam cutter so I use an electric kitchen knife. Do you have any suggestions or tricks to make this easier?

Hey Charlene, thanks for watching. The main thing is working on a raised surface. This makes it a lot easier to keep an eye on the angle of the blade. You could also try to create a guide that you rest the blade against while cutting. If you have two plastic tables at you disposal you could lay the foam in a way that the blade fall between the two table while cutting.
      I hope this helps!

I always label everything right or left as you are looking at the furniture, because you can’t upholster the chair sitting in it.
