Actually it does still apply here. Vader mentally considered everything Anakin's to also be his, see his conversations in episodes 5 and 6. Especially his line in the latter where he outright tells Luke that the name Anakin has no meaning to him but he still considers Luke his son and Padme his wife.

This is actually pretty true...I am a fanfic writer and when I read some other stories like this, it makes me cringe!!! When I write a story, I made damn sure the characters are true to their true character. I research the characters, ask others for their input and fill out drafts...yeah some things may change a little, but I want the content to be as...lack of a better word, realistic as possible....

The doctor is the unsung hero of this story. He is constantly dealing with a nurse that can't seem to focus on her work, but doesn't have her fired despite all that. He even goes out of his way to protect her when he discovers that she has been stealing from Vader because he knows full well how terrifying Vader can be. The nurse was so caught up in her own fantasies that she cannot recognize that her boss is not the bad guy she thinks he is.
Am I the only one who thinks that the doctor in this comic, looks kind of like the Doctor from ST:Voyager?

@@starwarsreadingclub I was expecting her to die on the Death Star, like everyone else did in the end: Vader reserves force choking to his inept subordinates, and lightsaber strikes and swipes to his enemies. So for someone who is obsess with Vader, he killing her the way he did by just allowing her to walk to him arms open, without he standing up, demonstrates how worthless she was to him. Not even a tool or cog in the grand machine that is the Empire, you can't use her fear nor greed to get her cooperation, a creature like this has no value to the Sith.
And Vader is obsessive himself: never letting go of Padme's memory, specially when he is in the chamber, or the targets he hunts.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, should show that what makes any and all romantic tropes work are the contexts in which they are employed, the individuals involved, and their personalities.
This was practically a deconstruction.

Because "redeeming the villain through love" is not the story being deconstructed here (including familial love, which is how Luke redeemed Vader), and it is especially not making fun of the Reylo fans.
The scene where she fantasises herself as a Sith force-choking her superior was the clincher - this is a character who would gladly become just as evil as the target of their obsession if it meant being with them, the opposite of what you think it's making fun of.
Therein lies the deconstruction. The Joker/Harley comparisons are prevalent, already casting her fantasies in a suspect light, but Vader is also no Joker. He's not the kind of psychopath who'd emotionally manipulate someone with feelings for him, nor is he some tortured soul who wants love again. His heart belonged to Padme, and that died with her. He cast aside the notion of love.
Apparently some female fans found this issue very offensive, especially in how they portrayed the nurse.
@@cassidyho939 Well, I've heard specific images in the issue were directly taken from iconic romance scenes like "Phantom of the Opera". There's also the issue of the nurse having no given name, the way she was drawn and acted, and Vader's dismissiveness after he killed her that some take as not being like Vader.
That's why I personally consider it a deconstruction, though it all depends on whether the writer themselves intended it as an attack on said tropes or as a deconstruction.
@@Catalyst375 Honestly, though, I think the whole "Phantom of the Opera" thing is kind of a subversion - because even though Vader's the scarred guy in the mask, he's arguably not the one playing the role of the Phantom; the woman is. IMHO, she's the obsessed character in the shadows who's pining for something - and in this case, it's someone a lot different from the Phantom's Christine; a person who just plain doesn't care.
As for the dismissiveness, that one's actually easier for me. Because Darth Vader, or I should say Anakin Skywalker, only ever loved one woman; Padme Amidala. And in many ways, her death was as much the moment Anakin died as his burning on Mustafar was - she was his one and only, and losing her quite literally hollowed him out. That person - the man who was loved and was capable of loving another woman to the point of tossing the whole galaxy into a totalitarian rule just to preserve her life - has been dead for years, and had died when the only woman who could ever had made his heart beat did.
Comics, books and films alike have all long established the only people Vader ever truly cared about were his own family - even his teacher Obi-Wan and student Ahsoka ultimately came second to them, to the point he was full-on willing to (and in Obi-Wan's case, actually did) kill them. To Vader, this nurse was a nobody - he's killed people far more important than her just for bringing him bad news, much less for throwing themselves at him like she did.

This Dark Visions series has been one like I haven't seen before, and this story was far beyond even the previous Imperial officer who tried to get away from Vader in issue #2! Only two more issues left, but I'm sure we aren't finished with the bizarre. :) I hope that you enjoyed the video!

When you consider Vader may well have known about this woman and her feelings for a while, you can assume when he finally did it he felt like "I should've totally done that sooner".

Scary? As in 'what the hell is wrong with you' sense probably. She was dangerous to herself only, literally anyone in the Empire forces would dispose of her no problem. Yanderes are dangerous only to weak, meek young people with no real world experience - i.e. typical anime protagonist.

Technically speaking, we don't know that. Sure, we saw his torso and what's left of his leg ignite but his man parts were in the sand. The sand wasn't hot enough for Obi-Wan to walk on, jump onto or stick his hand in to pick up Anakin's lightsaber without being burned. It stands to reason his man parts survived.
