@@crimsonking440 In his earliest days he probably did struggle with that. But, after a decade, Vader channeled that pain which made him incredibly powerful. I'll still never forget the comic page where he killed a Darth Maul clone by impaling himself, and only survived because he hated himself so much.
Okay, question - did Watto really treat Ani that badly ? I'll admit that i do not have to much Legend-knowledge concerning this particular point, so it's an honest question. Just judging from Episodes I and II and what little i remember from their novelizations, it seems to me that, for slave standards, Anakin did have a rather good life. I mean, yeah, sure, 'good' is relative, but Watto did seem to hold him in quite high regard, even let him do podraces (something that humans weren't exactly all that famous for, meaning he could potentially loose a valuable slave through this), didn't let him work to death and at times released him from his duties early and he even seemed somewhat delighted to see him again in Episode II (again, 'happy' is relative).
Also include the fact that (1) Ani and Shmi were allowed their own home outside Watto's compound; (2) Ani and Shmi seems to be well fed; (3) both were allowed to have their own property [I think they were]; and (4) no signs of physical abuse.
To be completely fair, Watto being so cordial to Anni was likely affected by Watto hitting it rough and seeing a familiar face in high places. He let Anakin podrace with Watto's pod, but this was likely about noticing the boy's gift and then trying to exploit it to get good podracer winnings (and he'd be the one keeping them all, notice the terms of his initial bet with Qui-Gon). Lastly, in the videogame "SW: The Phantom Menace" I think an entire region of Mos Eisley is shown as "Slave Quarters", so for slaves to have their own houses is not uncommon.
@@aeterna789 I mean Anakin was able to build a pod from wattos scraps and possibly watto intentionally left perfectly working parts for Anakin to find. Watto: "Ani my boy!" Anakin: **glares at Watto** Watto: "After I heard that you helped to free Naboo by blowing up that spaceship, I expected your girlfriend over there to show up and take your mother with her. Where have you been all those years?" Anakin: **glares at Padme**
Watto: (in a lot of pain) why are you doing this? Vader: Shmi Skywalker died because of you. Watto (shocked) Shmi Skywalker? But no one...Ani? Vader: Ani is dead. He died the night Shmi died. From Aniken Skywalker birthed Darth Vader. Good bye, Watto (ends him)
I can only imagine it starts with vader force gripping and crippling watto's wings. Then letting him fall to the ground in pain. Then slowly making his way over to him as Watto weakly gets to his feet, then the last we see of Watto, is him cowering in the shadow of vader.

Ok Vader failed versus a fucking weaker opponent "Obi-Wan Kenobi",because he was an unfocused and emotional hindered idiot and got almost killed, but he still became a powerful Sith and did a good job for the Sith Order and Empire. But in the end Plagueis and me failed... Vader a.k.a Anakin Skywalker destroyed the Sith... Fucking Chosen One
I don’t remember the name of the book, but I remember reading one where Leia and Han explore Anakin’s childhood home and find journals from Shmi that reveal Klieg technically didn’t buy her, but rather he fell in love and since she was a slave and couldn’t marry him, and Watto wouldn’t sell her because his business went to crap after he lost Anakin and he didn’t want to lose her, the Lars came up with some sort of plan to trick Watto into selling her to them so that Klieg could, immediately, free and marry her.
I sure as hell hope not. Despite Watto’s treatment of the boy; he reacted with fondness upon seeing him in Attack of the Clones. He was upfront with the fact that he had sold Shmi and he was more than willing to help Anakin find his mother. As Darth Vader, while he hated slave traders, I don’t see him wasting time on Watto.
"I had a dream I was a Jedi, I came back here and freed all the slaves..." How cool would it be to find out in canon that Anakin had no idea he'd do this but as a Dark Lord of The Sith. Vaders revenge for all his pain and suffering from his childhood and his mothers death.
Watto didn't really deserve it. Owning slaves is kind of shitty but he never seemed to be a cruel master. I never really saw him beat Anakin or Shmi or starve them or even overwork them. There are the devices that cause them to blow up if they escape, which is shitty, but he seemed much kinder than other slave masters and he acted more like a manager than a slaver. If it was that bad, I imagine Anakin and Shmi would outright beg Qui Gon to free them.
This! Most of the time Anakin spent his time sitting around and doing nothing. When he was working, it was on pointless chores Watto gave him just to give him something to do. I'm not sure Shmi even worked at all. They were probably costing Watto more than they were worth, because of the cost of feeding, clothing, and housing them, and getting very little in return. All of the haters should watch Schindler's List, as Watto and Schindler aren't so far apart. They both live in tyrannical environments while working within the confines of those environments to protect the victims of those environments. Imagine how much worse it would have been for them if Watto hadn't taken them in. Think about how useless Shmi would have been as a slave while heavily pregnant or nursing a baby. She and Anakin both would have died on the streets.
I don't know. Slavery is still horrible, but I've encountered far worse bosses. Watto is tough, but seems like a fair boss who gives credit where it's due
I agree. This was more like indentured servitude. Shmi was able to keep and earn her own money. Enough to provide a decent home life for young anakon. As far as I know he was never physically abusive
Not to mention when adult Anakin appeared in front of him he seems to be genuinely happy to see him, even if it was for selfish reasons. Any slave owner that treated them mercilessly would be scared rather than happy enough to consider they would help them (for the old times). There must have been moments where Watto overdid as their owner but feels like they were isolated events. Who knows maybe in another context (remove Schmi for whatever reason) Anakin could ve help him (not exactly with his mischiefs) out of boredom
I would imagine he used the force to peel his mind layer by layer, separating every neural connection one by one with the force as he held him suspended in air unable to move, and/or crushed him with unbearable emotional weight, essentially channeling his own pain into Watto and incinerating his mind with his own pent-up rage, then decapitating him with his lightsaber as Watto clung to his last strand of life. I'd imagine that's something Vader would do.

Star wars theory: WATTO IS A MONSTER Watto just being a good slave owner. Letting anakin go home early often, make sure he has an home and a job, give him enough time and recourses for anakin to build a pod racer and C3PO
So u chose to ignore the fact her "husband " decided to not even fight for her though sand people are dumb as heck and pretty much was like she ded. Didn't even attempt to save her even with anakin a jedi knight as back up. Suxs he blames watto for nothing basically and held her husband as not even responsible though he didn't do shit. But i guess its written that way as if he did hold the farmer responsible then luke would have been found.
@@chriswilson7288 If I remember the novel correctly, Lars DID mount a rescue party together with six or so other farmers, got blasters, speederbikes, everything. BUT the Tusken set up a trap because they are far from being stupid dust dwellers, by spanning several very sturdy wires all over the path they took and knew the farmers would follow, waiting for the them. So when the rescue party rushed down the path, in a hurry to rescue Shmi, they of course did not notice the frikken razor floss and most of them got cut into bloody pieces instantly, Jin Ro style (this is where Lars lost both of his legs and has to use a hover chair since then, dunno why they show him with legs in the movie), with the Tusken decending on the few survivors, tearing them appart. One other farmer managed to escape together with a heavily wounded Lars. When Anakin arrives at Tattoine to find his mom, that was a mere week or so after the whole fiasco, I´d like to see any person to be like "Yepp, just lost my legs and a lot of my friends, have been put through a near death expierience and am crippled and traumatised for life now but sure, I´ll float out there and try again right now. The fact that Luke managed to get through to Vader in the end just proved the "Anakin is Dead" is purely psychological, and Vader wasn't as strong with the Dark Side as he thought.
@@MetroXLR99
I just imagine every morning he woke in that pod thing he looked in a mirror and said "you aren't Anakin. Anakin is dead" and started crying and the emperor watched it and laughed.
@@crimsonking440 In his earliest days he probably did struggle with that.
But, after a decade, Vader channeled that pain which made him incredibly powerful.
I'll still never forget the comic page where he killed a Darth Maul clone by impaling himself, and only survived because he hated himself so much.
Yay! Good job, Vader! You got revenge on that sleemo!
As always, wonderful video!
"only money..."

Star Wars Theory is this canon ?
I love that he says “the power of the force”
NOT the power of the dark side
I would’ve rather see Anakin murder the Sand People on screen and keep it there instead of being cut out.
Would have made Episode II more epic and better
Just a 5 minute scene of him going into all the huts murdering everyone
@L3- -37 Yes it was, thank you!
@@aeterna789 I mean Anakin was able to build a pod from wattos scraps and possibly watto intentionally left perfectly working parts for Anakin to find.
Plus watto sold his mum to a family that he knows we're good people and her mum was able to marry as a freewoman. Watto's character seems like a rough conman but inside he's good.

Vader: Ani is dead. He died the night Shmi died. From Aniken Skywalker birthed Darth Vader. Good bye, Watto (ends him)

Yes fire dragon punch thumbs up!
If your Karma looks like a seven-foot cyborg Grim Reaper samurai, you have made very poor life decisions indeed!
I can only imagine it starts with vader force gripping and crippling watto's wings. Then letting him fall to the ground in pain. Then slowly making his way over to him as Watto weakly gets to his feet, then the last we see of Watto, is him cowering in the shadow of vader.
if only watto knew
Can't say I'm surprised. I was actually expecting this.
In the Legends comic 'Old Wounds' it was implied that Watto was killed by Darth Maul whilst getting information out of him on Obi-Wan's whereabouts.

i dont think watto was that bad, anakin and shmi seemed to live relatively comfortably despite being slaves. Also he seemed genuinely happy to see anakin in episode 2.
Very nice. I would like tp see this in Canon in a novel or a Movie.
Now, What would happen if Anakin helped him with the dead beats that owed him money?

According to "The rise and fall of Darth Vader" (Legends) Watto was actually very nice to his slaves.
And according to the Revenge of The Sith novel (also Legends), Watto beated up Anakin.
I guess lightsabers worked on him tho
Maybe Vader crushed Watto with three tons of Imperial credits. After all, money works on Toydarians, and Vader was very creative.....
I could see him doing that, given Vader's dark sarcasm.

For all we know, perhaps Darth Jar Jar got to Watto before Vader could, just to annoy him.

How cool would it be to find out in canon that Anakin had no idea he'd do this but as a Dark Lord of The Sith.

“Records from tatooine preclude that is was watto” that literally means it wasn’t watto...

Why toydarians are are actually pretty nice
“I’ll tell what you get! You get what you FUCKING DESERVE!” *Shoots Watto with a blaster.*
Can we all just take a second and look at 0:03 Master Ginyu xD
"One day, while moisture farming . . ." Golden.
He didnt only kill watto but he killed his wife, and children as well
If he had any
I doubt he had but if he did I'm pretty sure Vader would slice their wings too
I would imagine he used the force to peel his mind layer by layer, separating every neural connection one by one with the force as he held him suspended in air unable to move, and/or crushed him with unbearable emotional weight, essentially channeling his own pain into Watto and incinerating his mind with his own pent-up rage, then decapitating him with his lightsaber as Watto clung to his last strand of life. I'd imagine that's something Vader would do.
Ever wonder what it is like to "know" you are Winning, only to get three of your limbs fire cut off of you ? Then to slowly slide down burning sand till your whole body is cover in flames ? Burning away most of the Skin from your body...Here is the best part, to find out that the one person you will give Everything up for died by your own hand. Can you image how that would fell ?

Star wars theory: WATTO IS A MONSTER
Watto just being a good slave owner. Letting anakin go home early often, make sure he has an home and a job, give him enough time and recourses for anakin to build a pod racer and C3PO
