    Sadly, only one issue left in this amazing series. I tried to focus on the events during the duel for this video, but I have to say, the information given by Lord Momin has inspired me to jump back into the discussions about the Force/ancient Jedi/ancient Sith in a pretty big way again similar to before The Last Jedi. There will be a lot to discuss in the very near future thanks to Lord Momin. :)
    Thank you very much for joining me in the live stream yesterday (which was great as always!) and I hope that you enjoy today’s video.

      what Momin has done, is greater than what you are reporting. Now in Canon. Sith HAVE RECONNECTED TO THE FLESH. NOT A FORCE GHOST. it puts me in RAGE< BECAUSE IN MY OPINION GEORGE LUCAS WAS SETTING UP VADER TO CHEAT DEATH. AND LUKE HAVING TO FACE VADER YET AGAIN AND HIS GRANDSON, after he thought his FAther had died. and his Force ghost that went to the light side told him. and why Luke had shut himself off to the force. because when he saw into the future of KYLO REN, HE SAW WHO HE WOULD HAVE TO FIGHT.. @Camilo Pitterson Nice, I didn't understand that quote, so I looked it up. It's actually, "To believe in an ideal, is to be willing to betray it. It is something no Sith or Jedi has ever truly learned." I think her meaning in this is better articulated in her explanation of why she uses the force: "I use it as I would use a poison, and in the hopes of understanding it, I will learn the way to kill it." But it still doesn't explain the "truly believe" part. Like, I believe in all of my chosen ideals. Are there exceptional things or situations that would convince me to compromise them? Yes. Maybe that understanding is what makes the difference between just liking something and truly believing in it? Either way, I think her point agrees with bane's perspective, that a Sith gains freedom by rejecting servitude in all its forms.

    I think that Lord Momin was right about how serving the Dark Side, rather than believing that the Dark Side serves the Sith. It is rather apparent in the success of his gateway's creation, and his ability to stop time. However, I think what led to Momin's defeat was his own pride and dismissal of the Chosen One prophecy. Momin believes (or knows, depending on how you interpret his achievements) the Dark Side loves him, but he underestimated how much both sides of the Force - the Light and Dark Side - want the Chosen One to live.

    • @Evan_L
      @Evan_L Před 5 lety +123

      That is one way of interpreting it, and makes sense. It depends on the belief that the force was always on the side of the chosen one. Even so, I believe that Momin was just wrong, and that Vader succeeded in defeating him because he did not surrender to the force, or to Momin. He was on the ground with one arm, seemingly defeated. But instead of accepting this loss, he defied it and killed Momin with his own power. Vader took the moment, and therefore the will of the force, into his own hands, and gained victory. Even the sith code suggests that a true dark side user takes what's theirs, rather than earning it by surrendering to something. "Through passion I gain strength, through strength I gain power, through power I gain victory, through victory my chains are broken."

    • @Catalyst375
      @Catalyst375 Před 5 lety +133

      @@Evan_L That is traditional Sith philosophy, but Momin was branded a heretic because he did not follow said philosophy. To be more specific, Momin followed the philosophy in his own way that allowed him access to abilities other Sith did not. He followed his passion as an artist, choosing not to take an apprentice and instead pursue further knowledge of the Force. In his pursuits, where he realized his sole audience should be the Dark Side, that he should work to glorify the Dark Side, he gained strength, he gained power, gained victory and broke his chains.
      Momin did not surrender himself to the Dark Side of the Force. He followed his passion, directed that passion towards serving the Dark Side itself, and in so doing attained the power to stop time, and attained the means to pierce the veil of time to resurrect himself. Contrast to the rule of two and modern Sith, which solely focused on the Sith's goal of revenge against the Jedi and ruling the galaxy.
      Momin believed himself to be loved by the Dark Side of the Force, and he most likely was, but he underestimated and did not understand that Vader was indeed the Chosen One. At that moment between the two, the Dark Side showed its favour for Darth Vader over Momin. Yet, perhaps, it still showed its love to Momin. Momin's Mask still has the power to corrupt others even years after his second death, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Mask survived the destruction of the Imperialis and shows up again in the canon.

      Also, where on earth did you get the implication that Momin believed himself to be the Chosen One? He never mentioned anything to that effect, only believing that, in resurrecting his physical body from death, he became the masterpiece he strove to make. He was a Sith who had his own ideas on what the Sith should be and aspired to devote his art to the Dark Side of the Force.
      Never, in the entire arc of this comic, did he ever have any delusions that he was the Chosen One. At most, he dismissed the modern Sith as weak because they saw the Dark Side as a tool to be used, rather than something to devote their actions towards.

      I've read A LOT of Star Wars novels, comics and other sources, both canon and non-canon and one thing that keeps popping back up, time and time again, no matter what era the story takes place in, it's that the force always seeks to balance itself out. If it starts to tip over to one side too much, it will attempt to balance itself out by going a bit more the other way. The further it tips one way, the harder it will attempt to move in the opposite direction. One theory says that that's why the Jedi Order had to be wiped out in the Skywalker era. Too many Jedi had been using the light side of the force for too long, while there were only two Sith who tapped into the Dark Side and this carried on for nearly a millenium. The Force was completely out of balance. That's also why the Jedi at the time were experiencing diminished connections to the Force. Too many of them had been tapping into the one side for too long. That's why it had to lash out at them so violently through Anakin and wipe them out. I can't remember which source I got this from, but there is one in particular that delves pretty deep in explaining that the force is like an element of nature. It doesn't feel compassion, it doesn't feel remorse, it doesn't feel anger or hatred. It just is and all it seeks to do is keep itself in a perpetual state of balance and it will lash out at anyone and anything that attempts to upset that balance sooner or later.

    Momins philosophy is quite interesting ! even after all these analysis I don't think I have a full grasp on it. He looks down upon vaders persuit of murdering Jedi despite the fact that the Jedi were the ones whom ruined his original plans. To momin they would seem more of an obstacle, not caring to kill the light so much as focusing on serving the dark and light suffering by proxy.
    Momins fate and philosophy of the dark side preserving those that serve it seems to have some sort of ground when you compare it to dark side beings from legends like mur, naga shadow, and nihlus. They endured past their mortal deaths but they became tools and corrupting forces of the darkside rather than working by their own volition. Their price at having imortallity. By contrast Sith that attempt to try and use the dark side to serve themselves usually end up having it betray them and everything back fires.

      Yeah Vader was injured, his suit damaged and Momin was reborn and even then he couldn't do anything to stop Vader from crushing his skull, that's what Vader is. He may not be the fastest nor the most skilled duelist but his insane Force Powers and tactical thinking make up for it. The question is where would we rank Momin ? He definetly beats all inquisitors, Asajj Ventress, Savage Opress, General Grievous and Kylo Ren and all Jedi Padawans and lowly Knights. He definetly can't beat Snoke, Sidious or Vader. Could he beat Dooku ? Possibly, Dooku isn't close to Vader when it comes sheer Force Power and Momin might break through his defences. Dooku is realy skilled but when it comes to stamina and durability... he sucks, he is literaly out of breath after his fights and he has no armor only fragile old body and we saw that he falls to brute, quick furious attack (Quinlan Vos defeated him this way, so did Anakin). Beating Maul would be tougher we realy can't see how fast Momin is nor how skilled he is but the fact that he could match Vader and even land many glancing blows shows that he''s realy good duelist, keep in mind that Maul was scared of Vader (but we also need to remember that this isn't the same Vader, this one is much weaker than the one we see in Rebels, Rogue One and OT).

      However Starkiller defeated Vader mostly due to exploiting his massive weakness to Force Lightning (and he knew Vader's fighting style). Vader was still able to break Starkiller's Force Shield multiple times and even disarm him in the second game.

    I still maintain that anakin was the chosen one. He brought balance by gaining control over both light side and dark side powers and while was fooled into thinking the pendulum only swang in extremes, brought balance with his final action. Balance is not perfect balance between light and dark in the universe, but within a person. Hence the downfall of both light and dark side extremeists and the new breed of jedi like Rey (cough) who is not scared of either side. Anakin was the one and fulfilled the prophecy but it wasn't in the way that Plagueis, qui gon, the emperor or even the Ones thought it would be. He maintained true to his destiny even when he lost himself and fought within himself in the extreme sides of the force. He stood up to everyone and proved they were all wrong in their force religions. The will of the force becomes so much more intriguing. Anakin and true nature of the force is what makes it such a cool story.

    I just noticed while watching this video, that Lord Momin's BLOOD IS BLACK.

    Momin is like qui gon but for the dark side

  • @KaiserAfini
    @KaiserAfini Před 5 lety +5

    Serving the dark side means committing attrocities for their own sake, inflicting fear, disgust and pain for no real reason. Momin never noticed he was not the dark side's lover, but its pet. A true Sith uses The Force to attain true freedom and perfection. Light or dark, arcane, technomancy, alchemy or mind trick, it is the Sith way to keep pushing the boundaries of excellence and evolution, for oneself and one's work. That is what Sidious and Momin both lack, the ambition and ability to trace an infinite path through eternity, and embrace the constant change it demands.

    Sidious is not weak, he just does not serve the dark side, he serves himself, the guy wants to rule an empire, not just slaughter randomly.

  • @emperorsheevpalpatine6794
    @emperorsheevpalpatine6794 Před 5 lety +13

    Momin said that Sidious was withholding knowledge from Vader. At no point does he refer to Sidious as weak. More clickbait titles, lmfao.

      @Smolfox Před 4 lety +1

      Emperor Sheev Palpatine nah, theres plenty of lore that says the same thing. They claim sidious is weak because hes too obsessed with Jedi.

    I always wondered what happened to Dr. Zoidberg after Futurama ended...

  • @thetrulyuniqueotsutsukigod9582

    That’s why I love Vader, he’s still in touch with the force...but he’s limited, More so physically...he can only really use 1 fighting style which can easily be take advantage off from more agile opponents...even when he amplifies his strength he doesn’t have the flexibility to put anything into it

  • @darthzeltroth7758
    @darthzeltroth7758 Před 5 lety +1

    Momin was a fool. The Sith were always meant to bend the Dark Side to their will. Jedi are servants of the force, but Sith are Masters of it.

    • @animetheory2572
      @animetheory2572 Před 5 lety +1

      Darth Zeltroth and yet Momin was the only canon sith to transcend death and become alive once more. The so called “masters” couldn’t even compare. That feat in of itself gives credence that the force to some extent agreed with Momin

    • @darthzeltroth7758
      @darthzeltroth7758 Před 5 lety

      Anime Theory The reason Momin was able to cheat death was because he was lucky enough to have a part of his power placed near a place that held nothing but pure dark side energy.

    • @animetheory2572
      @animetheory2572 Před 5 lety +1

      Darth Zeltroth I’ll put it this way. Momin hates the rule of two and Plagus adhered to it, Plagus spent his life trying to become immortal and failed. Momin didn’t even try and succeeded. The writing is on the wall here

    • @darthzeltroth7758
      @darthzeltroth7758 Před 5 lety

      Anime Theory Again he was resurrected because he was lucky, it doesn’t have to do anything with his power. If he was so powerful Vader wouldn’t have killed him.
      Plagueis didn’t really care about the Rule of Two, but he just went with it. Also don’t try to convince me that Plagueis was somehow weaker than Momin because that’s a buncha bs

    • @animetheory2572
      @animetheory2572 Před 5 lety +1

      Darth Zeltroth never said he was weaker. I’m only comparing their achievements
      And here is something you and other people forget to take into account: Momin hasn’t used his real body in well over a thousand years. If you’ve ever done something and stop for a couple of years we’ll when you get back to it you find yourself to be rusty
      Momin couldn’t even move for a thousand years save for the brief time he inhabited unrelated people thanks to Vader. So really it’s only expected he would be less than full powered.
      So don’t pretend this was full power Momin loosing to weakened Vader. This was heavily weakened Momin (who was actually winning the duel until He did his villain Monologue) who was killed off guard.
      My point here is that for all you know he very well could be stronger. Remember his superweapon required his own force ability to power. To level a city and stop time itself. Who else besides Momin has ever flat out stopped time or powered a superweapon with their own force power? Not Vader, certainly not Plageus. Sidious I could imagine he could

    what momin was trying to tell you say a Darth Vader but was in the heat of the moment is that you must serve the dockside so it serves you cuz you cannot bend it to your will it is completion so you must will. Completion to self-actualize and realize yourself through the traveling of completion of Darkness
