Last month, I had my old toaster oven fail on me. I noticed the french fries that came out of it were crispier than normal, even though I cooked them the same time/temp as always. I turned it off and ate them anyway, and when I came back the thing was still on at full temperature, with the power knob turned off! My guess is the thermostat broke
