The video John captured Cameramen making a Documentary about the Guards, it’s a series
Is being shown on channel 5 on Thursday the 16th November at 9pm.
The title is
The Kings Guards
( Serving The Crown )
Thanks John we wouldn’t have known the Documentary was being made if it wasn’t for your excellent
Narration during your brilliant Videos.👍
I always take the time to watch your videos. Cause even when you saw it a few days ago you sill can hear the enthousiasme in your voice. Hope i said it correctly 😊. Its always a special thing for you. And with that you feed ours to. Love you comments ❤❤
@@charlie4739 Thanks you ever so :)

Your more than welcome,
We all love John’s Videos and if it hadn’t been for him none of us would have known about the Documentary.
😊👍
Great. Thanks for the head’s up.
The story of the trumpeter using a grey horse goes back to when they took the horses into battle. The cavalry needed to identify their trumpeter as he was sounding the advance or withdrawal.
Wow what history London has!
I also read somewhere that it was so the officer could find his trumpeter to issue orders - It would be great to find out more about the various trumpet calls that we hear - what they mean
Maybe a trumpeter could make a video of all the calls 😂 😊
You’d think the trumpet would be a clue.
Someone has !!
The lieutenant's coat is the same colour as the King’s Company, Grenadier Guards "Standard" .. I served for 26 years, '73-'99, and it is a first for me to see this.
Brilliant! We seem to have confirmed elsewhere in the comments that the officer was actually a Captain as one pip was concealed by the collar of his coat.
As we say in the states, thank you for your service.
Thanks for your videos. My DNA shows this is my heritage. I am disabled and probably will not get to see any of this in person. Your commentary is enjoyable. I watch most days. I live in USA. Your videos are a lovely relief from all the bad news of the day. Keep up the great work for all of us who would like to visit but are unable.
Could you please explain what a chisman is? Thank you!
Many years ago in the basement through the door to his left at the end, they had cock (chicks) fighting. It was the duty of the guard to keep his eye on procedures. Hence the name Chicksguard.
Sorry for a short version but having trouble with my mobile.
I was there today. I spotted myself in your video 😅. I was very excited to see YOU as well as all the stunning horses and troopers. I’m back in Dublin now and happily reliving a memorable morning.
I'm sooooo sorry I was unable to stop and speak with you. I was roughly 1/3 of the way through this video when you were there and I always try and shoot in a single take! 😊🙏🏻🙏🏻
@@LondonCityWalks Totally understandable!! I love your videos. I wouldn’t dream of interrupting your flow. 😊
these videos are becoming my highlight of the evening.
As far as i'm concerned, the sound is fine. Sure do appreciate you getting up early and braving the weather to film this for us to watch.
The reason why they all seem so happy this morning is because they are all so proud of themselves.. and so they should be . 💯💯💯
Absolutely agree! They have worked tirelessly for weeks and are now understandably exhausted. But yesterday was truly a day to remember - as glorious as The Coronation.
I was about to mention her eyebrows. A beautiful horse.
The horse on the left is so sweet. Thanks for putting up with the weather for us all. Bless you.
Thank you so much for posting these videos. I know I'll never get to Great Britain to see this in person so it means a lot to me to be able to see the videos.
The Cavalry Black with the grey eyebrows is ex race horse Invader who is such a sweetie pie and very distinct. 😊🐎💂♀️
As an artist painter, I see magnificent paintings, especially when the ground is wet from the rain, highlighting the beauty of the horses and the Royal Guard, with soft colour tones, your work is pure art, thank you so much for inspiring me.
Thank you for filming this for us John - I like many others, really look forward to your wonderful videos. This is SO interesting and wonderful to see. BTWI love the way the police pulled out all the stops yesterday and found all their grey horses. There were 4 spectacular pure white ones at the back. There was a glorious chestnut I wondered if that was George
They had 5 greys at the front. I watched a video of them practicing and the police all lined up at one point there was 6 together.
Well I know which tour guide I’d want….he is so knowledgeable telling his group about the “red ones” 😂
Almost sounded like he was deciding which Apples to buy! 🍎😂
More knowledge Thankyou re trooper checking camera thing by railings in yard so fascinating xxxx
Thankyou for filming in that weather ,thankyou to guards also for doing great job in weather and of course beautiful horses
A bugle is much smaller than that trumpet! This is wonderful! Thank you, John, for sharing it with all of us.
The trumpeter on the grey is stunning 🤍🤍🤍🤍
Hello John. I so love your passion in doing these. Videos. You certainly know your stuff, and make it so interesting. Thank you for standing out in all weathers.take care .
You don't need to go and embarrass him John , he managed that quite well on his own. 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂
I loved seeing the trumpeter. I had never seen that before.
John, did you notice when the officer in his cloak came into check the guardsman in the arches. A person in high visibility vest to his right, stood to attention as he walked by, obviously ex military, but was great to see, really was noticeable. At 1:05:49
Well spotted!
Very subtly the officer acknowledged the salute in return. Marvellous
Beyond words beautiful that gray horse with the black horses.
That horse with the gray “eyebrows” is extremely quiet and seemingly calm. Don’t see that too often
Definitely had the aura of a wise, experienced horse! Trying to find out more from the farriers!
I think that horse is Invader, he is sooo pretty ☺️
@@MissNino91 That horse is indeed 'Invader'! I'm guessing you might be a certain civilian rider at Hyde Park MissNino91? No way was that a lucky guess!😊
@@MissNino91 Thank you , another name to add to the ever growing list 😀
@@LondonCityWalksoh I wish I would be but no 😭 I am Swiss 😉 but I read an article once about Invader… how could you forget a horse with eyebrows 🤣
11th of Nov. Is USA Vetranes Day.Honor out Vets.
Definitely here from Canada ..We can never forget .
How proud of all. Amazing to see the beautiful representation of one’s country. It’s been lovely to see the soldiers as they have do daily. The Beauty of commitment, and strength in service. Not always easy when people don’t follow the rules, thank you all for sharing your days, and history of England. ❤️🍀
Admire your ethics!
Did anyone tell you are fantastic your videos are amazing I missed you yesterday I was looking for your video I am always watching your videos love ❤️ watching the horses and the soldiers 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Awk John Thankyou so so so much this is really splendid xxxx
Well done on getting all that you did.
I enjoy your blogs. As for some of the tourists- “ stupid is as stupid does”!. I’m watching from the USA. Keep up the blogs.
I love that horse with the snowy eyebrows!
Ditto! Will report back with the name ASAP 🐴👈🏻🙏🏻
Confirmed that horse is 'Invader' 😊
@@LondonCityWalks thanks!
Congratulations. You do a fantastic job. I love it. I am 83 next month and never been to England but my fathers ancestors are from the area. Keep up the good work. have enjoyed it and learned a lot. THANK YOU
a Vermonter.
Love the new horse with the grey eye liner. They will be one easy to spot. Would be a great one to get their name for the future. Also seems they like to snuggle.
Next time notice the tassel under the chin of the horse. Only an officer has a tassel.
Good piece of advice, thank you!
I was curious as to it’s meaning. Thank you for the explanation
What a beautiful horse and the trumpeter was absolutely gorgeous Thank you John ❤
A Rainy day in LONDON ! _Say it ain't so !!!_
Yes, rain in London is as rare as cloud over Paris! 😂
Brilliant video as always. Gorgeous ceremonies. Thanks for giving us great jokes and narrative.
Pomp and ceremony was beautiful yesterday ~ wouldn’t miss it for the world. I love being British me 🇬🇧 xxxx
I cannot decide which are my favourites, the greys or blacks. Both stunning. Had a palomino colored shetland pony as a child. Thanks for the morning post! ❤🇨🇦
I would have thought that to be a tour guide you would need some kind of training to ensure everyone was on the right page ,
I had a beautiful grey part welsh B pony for my daughter, she was little. She was almost pure white & had the prettiest face with big dark eyes & long eyelashes!
She was a nightmare to keep clean even here in australia & unfortunately they are prone to melanoma’s.
When she was shedding it got EVERYWHERE!! Even keeping her rugged she had such a thick coat due to being bred in wales originally & they are very hardy horses.
When her coat was coming out my daughter would be covered head to toe in white fur from grooming her! It put her completely off greys she now has a bay & a black horse.
My boy that I lost last year was all black with just a white star & looked SO much like the blues & royals horse “TA” he was stunning! 🥰
Sorry for the loss of your horse. Ginger had a habit of standing on my foot when I groomed her. Naughty girl!
Another splendid video John thank you. Your commentary gives me clipperty clop giggles. Truly makes my day. 😊
That horse looks like he's wearing eyeshadow!
Your videos are brilliant John I look out for them every day I spend most of my time watching them So a big Thank you I have always been a big fan of our royal family since a was a small girl watched the Queen get married had her children the coronation Of our Queen and now King Charles So I now love watching your videos of our guards and horses Thank you ❤
love the horse with the grey "eyebrows"!
Absolutely love your videos and your explanations of the protocol at Horse Guards. Your descriptions of the horses are great. Each and everyone of them are superbly groomed and cared for, so refreshing and makes me so proud.
Thank you so much for your footage. You are my only channel I watch for horse guard, your narrative makes me laugh so much through what are very difficult times at moment. X
"Clippy, cloppy loveliness" Yes! Good job, John. The gray and the trumpeter were so special❤
Enjoyed this video John . . . Love the horses and the amazing Guards. Kiwi
My Great Grandfather was cavalry it's very difficult to find out much more about him ,my grandmother used to have a painting of him over the fireplace but a spiteful uncle burnt it when she passed away , as a child I remember his sword wondering why he had it? Stunning horses on a dull day in London ☺
Magnificent those horse's being brilliant at what they best don't forget about the guards they turn out impeccable standards in themselves and the horses keep up with the fantastic work behind closed doors 👏👏🐴🐴🐴👍L👀k this British 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Your videos are so great, it’s like I’m right there in London!
John I do not know how you keep a straight face with those stupid tour guides. The idiot in red that was being very disrespectful how is he allow to run a tour service? Surely do they not have to be licensed? John are you ever tempted to tell them they are talking rubbish. When I was nursing when calling patients to come from a very packed waiting room I was known as Sargent Major. They need me up there to tell everyone to get behind the white line.
42:10 Awesome job John ... 💯 Probably the best departure ever shown on CZcams .
Always enjoy your videos John xx
Lovely footage John thank you awesome day beautiful Horse
I love the fact that there are so many differences each day with what the guards do, let alone the tourists. Beautiful white horse and great to see old friends back. I thought the grey was Desert Orchid at one point.
Different procedures when the King is in London.
Absolutely love the horse with the Grey eyebrows ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
John i cannot remember where I heard it on tv today news or morning tele they are going to start protest after two minutes silence xxxxx please keep yourself safe please xxxxx
I think the young man is under the influence, 😅, another fantastic video, Thanks l'm addicted ❤️
Not related to this particular video but just wanted to say thank you for giving such lovely video footage, with such informative narrative which educates me and makes me laugh so much I get belly ache. You do it in all weather's and you give me reason to carry on. X
Hi John, The Kings guard documentary on channel 5 that you spotted filming, starts next Thursday (16th November) at 21:00 Uk. Thought you might like to let everyone know !!! Already seen our favourite Blues and Royals Corporal of Horse on the trailer !!!
Wow he is really handsome with that swish of his handsome tail
Love your videos and your knowledge as to what goes on and your lovely friendly voice with the occasional laughter
But just one thing
Want to see the face to that voice 😉👍👍🇬🇧
There is a video on my TikTok with @nyc_kb 🙏🏻🙏🏻

That grey is gorgeous.
That tour guides Uncle Bob got him the job.
Greetings from Austin, Texas where I’m enjoying every moment of streaming from Buckingham Palace. It was really exciting to see the king and Camila. Thank you for making this possible. Cheers.
A very enjoyable video John in more ways than one. Your very interesting chatter full of information, passing on your enthusiasm, it makes one feel one is actually there with you and enjoying everything around, while I am still sitting comfortably in my armchair nice and and cosy while it rains buckets here in Northumberland. Great stuff, thanks very much🙏
It's poring on Tyneside as well , cat on my knee cup of tea and John's videos what more could we want 😀
Very kind words Maria - much appreciated, thank you!
@@kathellison8084 very true...🤗
@@LondonCityWalks you're very welcome, keep up the good work🤗
It might be that a Tourist had a foul odor (Hands,Breath) that upset the calm of the Horse. Fingers in the nose would surely be good reason to “Cut-Short” my time in the “Box”!! ❤ 1:23:48
wow great horse beuty white grey ....with trumpet xoxoxoxoxoxo
These horses are just all so beautiful. Those big grey horses are just AWESOME. Thank you for showing it all to us.❤
I’m so glad that you also noticed the lone tourists with no camera walking around.
I’m so proud to be British when I watch your vids.
Great work 👍🏼
Beautiful grey and trumpeter ,good call
Tour guides should know what they are talking about
Hello John
Excellent as Always 💙💜🩵🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🐎🐎🐎
Im so grateful too u for ur amazing vlogs, honesty and integrity and knowledge such a cool walk thru such an amazing, The horses are amazing from New Zealand thank.u❤
I've seen horses rub their faces on tourists before, I think they're drying the rain off their faces. Pretty funny when they do it.
Some horses just see any stationary human as a convenient scratching post. I knew one who used to sneak up behind people who were oblivious, and suddenly they’d be propelled forwards by having a horses head shoved into their back….I swear he laughed. Some also think that humans are there to lean on….my niece had one such sook, who would practically go to sleep on your shoulder…..and lemme tell you, a horses head is HEAVY
Fascinating. Thank you so much for these Vids and narratives. I will never see this in person. I love learning about different countries, cultures and traditions and your vids are fantastic!
Your videos are terrific, and today's is no exception. I absolutely love your running commentary. Each morning I watch your latest. You make my day. As for the wonderful color of that most magnificent cloak - I'd go with maroon. I await the name of the sweet small-ish horse with the "headlights" above her eyes.
That colour is mulberry apparently.
They certainly do know how to pick the most stunning horses - the cavalry blacks, the Windsor greys and the trumpeter’s white horses. The trumpeter did a good job with his valveless trumpet seeing as how brass instruments tend to play flat in cold weather.
I noticed an absolutely gorgeous bay police horse in one of yesterday’s videos with “matching accessories” of mane & tail in a lighter shade. I think they’re all gorgeous but every now and again one does stand out.
I wouldn’t swear to it but I think I once read the colour of the Life Guard’s officer’s cloak referred to as Mulberry.
Love your channel, new from San Diego, California. I love the different uniforms the military wears. The parade brought tears to my eyes. Love and respect military.
Thank you Gail and a warm welcome to the Channel! ❤️
I’m from the US and I’ve been really enjoying your videos. I love the way you explain what’s happening and the stories you tell. The last time I visited London was back in 1970 with my parents and I’m hoping to visit again this time with my husband.
Congratulations John , by far the best video I have watched on CZcams in many years. It was more like a documentary . You managed to capture so many things that are seldom seen by the general public. (PS The mare knew she was going back to Melton Mowbray for a bit of R&R ) ,that is why she was happy 🤣🤣🤣
High praise indeed! Thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻
@@LondonCityWalks You are welcome.
What about his service number on the hoof to identify??
@@thedarkwench Or the "Farriers Axe".. Why do farriers carry axes?
In order to account for all animals killed in action, the sharp axe blade was used to chop off the hoof of the deceased horse that was marked with the its regimental number. Army farriers still carry axes like this at ceremonial occasions - fortunately they do not use them anymore.
Thank you. I enjoy your video and comments❤
What a absolutely stunning horse.
Again,stunningly beautiful horse!!!😊
Thanks for the update on the troopers who were thrown off their horses yesterday. I saw a video where 2 guards were thrown and I was concerned about the one fellow hitting the ground hard in front of the Kings carriage.
So glad that all are okay.
Awesome❤
Amazing 🤩
Guards and guardesses!
He's a captain not a leftenant. He has three pps but the coat is hiding it. Nice video 😊
Never get tired of this, Thank you so much for all you do to bring us content like this. And yes I do watch your videos over and over. Best channel available with this type content.
Good evening lovely British weather rain 🌨
I’m glad you showed us the straight line they sat up it when weighing. The trumpeter was wonderful.
I watched a video on the Royal Family Channel of the procession yesterday and that one showed a riderless horse that had been caught by one of the guardsmen lining up across the parade ground. It was drone footage from high up so I couldnt see clearly but I think the poor rider came off near the memorial. That may have been when the other horse that trotted riderless past John played up and dumped his rider as well. Maybe the troopers who lost their helments did so when their horses kicked off so in that case they did well to stay on and I hope they didnt get into trouble. I do hope all are OK
What a fantastic video. Thanks for sharing and all of the info.
Hi bro, thanks you very much you upload this video of the horse guard and you always going very good work and keep up the great work again.
Your use of “Fruit loop” made me smile, he was proving you correct 😂
Absolutely fantastic. Thankyou 👍
I say, old boy! Jolly good observations there. The gall of some of these blighters! Anyway, do carry on. Tally-ho!
Enjoy your videos, I probably won't be able to visit England so thanks for sharing
FUN FACT ... The horses have been helping to guard the Royal Family and taking part in ceremonial occasions since 1660 when Charles II was restored to the throne. Historically members of the regiment were required to purchase their own horse and this practice for officers continued up until the Second World War. 🐴🐴🐴
