  • I am always showing you guys modern issues because a lot of them come in for grading. But here are two choices of coin that are far from modern and also VERY collectable.

    Old gold coins are always more interesting and beautiful than modern issues.

      I mostly agree, but man look at some smithsonian restrikes . Old designs made the modern way. They are the best looking things in my opinion and I feel they are worth just looking at. Buying is another thing, but they are amazing .

    Love the older coins Numi, please show more when possible. In my line of work, I’ll never have the disposable income for anything like that unless I win lotto, or they’re damn near complete slicks.

    I have a 1921 peace dollar ms 65+, old if lived but young if you're a coin...the prices for these have jumped especially in the last year with its centenary and the due for release 2021 peace and morgan dollars, the prices of the 65+ has grown from $2000 to now reaching the $3500...its been an incredible run for high grade coins.

    Great content.... please don’t stop. This is the closest I’ll ever get to owning these coins! I’ve said it many time but I’m amazed as these Nobels. Non clipped, survived so many historic world events, so thin, probably travelled all over the world in different collections and every single person over the best part of 700 years has loved and cared for it! Look at it!! Stunning!

    What a great selection of coins, the details look so much better on those older coins then the new issues(except the great engravers series). I do buy more older coins, then new ones!!

    best noble ive seen in my young life... has to be ms in my book, i was focusing on the edge around 6-9 o clock and if there was any clipping..its miniscule and certainly doesnt retract from the overall amazing eye appeal of said coin...WOW.

    Some beautiful half sovereigns there 😍 thanks for the show.
    Many of the modern half sovereign years were only proof issue mintages, making one wonder why they aren't seen as highly collectable when one considers the popularity of the standard sovereigns

    Edward III gold nobles were struck at the London mint during the height of hostility between England and France after the Treaty of Bretigni in 1360 after Edward renounced his claim to the French throne. Asprey has another one in good-fine condition for £4250

    Antiques and historical artifacts will always appeal to a wider audience. Coinage is no different. Especially one that has intrinsic value.

    Beautiful coins but old coins have been selling good for years. With epidemic and people losing there jobs, Some collectors are parting with there collection just to keep cash coming in.

  • @papabear90
    @papabear90 Před 3 lety

    Thank you for the video! I see from one dealer, they have categories of "secondary market" and "grade C" for their sovereigns.
    - Secondary market sovereigns, £301.70
    - Grade C sovereigns, £290.98
    - Intrinsic value, £288.10
    My question; for stacking purposes (not interested in good condition as I like the look of the scars of a coins past), mainly for the sole purpose in holding wealth in something other than fiat currency, are the grade C better value? If I were to resell later on, would they give me a bad price simply due to condition, how out of pocket would one be? As you can see I don't know much about the metal trade!
    Thank you

  • @yinyangja
    @yinyangja Před 3 lety +1

    They made the same mistake in 1887. The early sixpence looks like a 1/2 sov. So they redesigned the sixpence and came with another version in 1887 as well.

    Most of my gold is old..what I dont understand is why the are not more popular? Why buy a common modern day Eagle or Britannia when you can get historical coins for the same price..I have a feeling that those Latin monetary union gold coins will disappear from the market in the coming decades
