    I love doing this trick. I still love watching David do it. His close up magic was special. It’s great that we can still see him perform his miracles. RIP.

      @2:15 Roth is looking back with that 'deer in the headlights' look (that's an amateurish reflex to hide the move) his right hand is unnaturally clenched (surprising) & heading for the classic palm (tension in the thenar eminence betrays the right hand) in advance of the drop & carry over to the left hand. Imagine if David used a shell? Yes, to keep the one-ahead going & rather mediocre in artistry I will say; with a lot of filler and an unfulfilled promise from David Roth; cardinal rule is broken here-magician must keep his word to his audience that he would teach the moves @0:08 . I am rethinking 'living' Legend -

      Yeah this was a pretty basic performance. Ppl just have nostalgia goggles cause hes one of the pioneers. Plus hes older so It may be harder for him to make it look as natual...but even if you look back at his old videos his technique is antiquated there are way more advanced coin magicians today than Roth ever was.

    Hello my name is Johnathan and I have to say you perform that coin routine beautifully! So fluently and graceful. I watched this video several times in hopes to learn how it was done I deeply enjoyed it would like to perform it someday. I have read some coin books but I can't find an explanation. My suspension is that it was a gimmick coin involved. I was hoping maybe you could private message me or something on what gimmick coin was used. was it just a 50 Cent shell or a flipper coin gimmick. I'm sorry but I just would love to perform this trick and practice it till I'm as good as you at it.

    Magic revealed: The trick is that the fifth coin is smaller than the other four real ones. He can easily hide the fifth coin behind a real coin when displaying the coins and easily palm the fake small coin. The coins in the assistant hand are real, but the one he draws a cross with is the fake one that he palms and no longer shows his right palm after the trick.

    • @kanthibasu
      @kanthibasu Před 7 lety

      He palms the fifth coin on and off. I mean the fifth coin keeps changing. Finally when he puts "four" coins in the other person's hand, there are actually five. He takes one and palms it again (look at his hands at last, you will know). Throughout there are five coins, he tricks us that there are only four.
