House of the Dragon is the Game of Throne's successor show based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, a history of House Targaryen set 300 years before the events in GoT. The showrunners of House of the Dragon are Ryan Condal along with battle-tested GoT veteran Miguel Sapochnik.
Set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series tells the story of a turbulent period for House Targaryen, one that set sibling against sibling and dragon against dragon. The point of contention: who should rule on the Iron Throne, of course.
“If you’d like to know a bit more of what the show will be about… well, I can’t actually spill those beans,” Martin teased in his blog, “but you might want to pick up a copy of two anthologies I did with Gardner Dozois, Dangerous Women, and Rogues and then move on to ArchmaesterGyldayn’s history, Fire & Blood.”
Dangerous Women includes what press materials describe as a “35,000-word novella” by Martin called “The Princess and the Queen, or, the Blacks and the Greens,” which is “about the Dance of the Dragons, the vast civil war that tore Westeros apart nearly two centuries before the events of A Game of Thrones.”
Rogues, meanwhile, includes Martin’s story “The Rogue Prince, or, a King’s Brother,” which chronicles “the early life, adventures, misdeeds, and marriages of Prince Daemon Targaryen,” considered “one of the biggest rogues in the entire history of Ice and Fire.”
Finally, the novel Fire & Blood, released in November 2018, is the first novel of a two-part history of the Targaryens in Westeros.
“Centuries before the events of A Game of Thrones, House Targaryen - the only family of dragonlords to survive the Doom of Valyria - took up residence on Dragonstone,” according to the book’s description on the author’s site. “Fire & Blood begins their tale with the legendary Aegon the Conqueror, creator of the Iron Throne, and goes on to recount the generations of Targaryens who fought to hold that iconic seat, all the way up to the civil war that nearly tore their dynasty apart.”
House of the Dragon will be about Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen civil war.
About George R.R. Martin’s involvement, we know only what he stated himself. George R.R. Martin stated: "I expect to be involved in [House of the Dragons] to some extent...and, who knows, if things work out, I may even be able to script a few episodes, as I did for the first four seasons of GAME OF THRONES. But... let me make this perfectly clear... I am not taking on any scripts until I have finished and delivered WINDS OF WINTER. Winter is still coming, and WINDS remains my priority, as much as I'd love to write an episode of HOUSE."

Torrhen swore to keep his people safe and he did just that by giving up his own crown. Ned swore an oath to Lyanna to keep Aegon safe and that's exactly what he did. Ned never broke an Oath, not even to Cat despite what everyone believes.

Does anyone suspect that Deamon is going to personally execute Ser Otto Hightower. I saw what looks like him beheading someone in a god's wood. It is not known in the books who, but it does say that Otto was executed after the blacks took Kings Landing.

I never got into The Last Airbender, so I didn't list it and never saw Daredevil when it was on Netflix or the Ben Affleck one, so Daredevil: Born Again isn't on my radar. Penguin, Venom 3, Madame Web, Echo, Mean Girls, Kraven the Hunter, The Skeleton Crew, and Alien: Romulus doesn't interest me either. I'll check them out if the reviews are good.

Take note, I haven't seen Poor Things and The Holdovers yet. They both have high scores on Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb. Heck, I haven't even seen Napoleon yet. Then I read Disney doesn't want to release The Bikeriders. I did see Killers of the Flower Moon and Priscilla on the same day. While I think they're both good films, neither one would make my top 5 favorites of this year.
Maybe it's a NY bias, but Killers of the Flower Moon is regarded the best film of 2023 according to the New York Times and The New Yorker? I think the movie is well made but I actually prefer Oppenheimer more and I'm a bigger Scorsese fan than Nolan fan. I wouldn't be mad if Flower Moon won Best Pic but I rank it between the 10-12 range among my Scorsese favorites. Still better than Gangs of New York. Cameron Diaz was a complete miscast for that film.
I enjoyed Gen V and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon but I wouldn't put either of them in my top 10 of this year. I haven't been into TWD since 2016 which is why the spinoff show with Rick and Michonne next year doesn't interest me. Gen V is CW The Boys meets Saved By The Bell: The College Years. Some good stuff but I still prefer the flagship series. Most spinoffs are extra dressing we don't need or never asked for. If they did a spinoff to Stranger Things and Cobra Kai, I probably wouldn't watch it. I'll watch Agatha because I always liked Kathryn Hahn.
*Godzilla* *Minus* *One*
There's a great chance if I see Godzilla Minus One, it will make my top 5 for 2023. But since it's a foreign film with subtitles, I probably wouldn't put it above Loki S2 and Air since I tend to listen to my movies and shows at home while I surf the web. I'm such a huge Michael Jordan fan and Loki fan. I would love it if -1 shocks the Oscars and wins Best Pic. I've read it's like a Godzilla film if it was directed by Steven Spielberg.

All the highest grossing Godzilla movies are the American ones. The highest grossing for a Japanese Godzilla movie is Shin Godzilla in 2016 at $78M worldwide. The 1998 Zilla still made more at $379M. Minus One should cross $100M easily with it's shoestring budget of $15M. I think it will cross $200M. Not bad for a foreign film with subtitles.
One of Jaby Koay's favorite movies is The Fall (2006)? Good taste, brother 🇵🇭. I have closer taste to Jaby over his younger brother, Greg Alba, since I'm closer to age to Jaby. The Fall is one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen. No CGI. Tarsem took 4 years to make that film using real locations. The scene with the elephant swimming was gorgeous. And it has such a sweet story and ending underneath all that beauty.

I generally don't need to carry all my favs on my phones. Pixel 3 is probably best for Game of Thrones though. It has the best internal audio quality when using my Sony WH1000XM4 for it. I'll probably put GOT, HOT D, Andor, and The Boys on that.

While Warner Bros.' superhero films flopped this year (Shazam 2, The Flash, Blue Beetle, and likely Aquaman 2), they did have the highest grossing film of this year in Barbie.
Elvis, HOT D S1, and The Batman were three of my top 5 favorites from 2022. Warner Bros. is generally more consistent than Disney. Max is more worth it than Disney+. They have far better variety in genres.
The most anticipated film of 2025 will come from Warner Bros. as well: The Batman 2 🦇
I'm surprised Tyrone Magnus enjoys The Boys that much when I know he's a Trumper/conservative and Amazon, like Netflix, is very liberal. They're as WOKE as the rest of Hollywood. MGM was bought by Amazon.
Homelander represents Donald Trump and they don't make him look good or his supporters. They make Trumpers look dumb. I still watch it because I enjoy most of the characters very much and Seth Rogen has a sick mind with humor like Termite inside a penis or Little Cricket climbing up a penis like a tree in Gen V. Seth Rogen still has his American Pie/Tom Green/Farrelly Bros./Judd Apatow shock value with comedy.
But I'll admit, The Boys hasn't been as interesting or great since Season 1. Season 2 was a step back with the Nazi chick story and then Season 3's season finale disappointed people like Tyrone because Homelander got to live again. It peaked by Herogasm (3x6) but the last two episodes from Season 3 fell flat. Black Noir deserved a much better ending.
My favorite character from S1 was Frenchie and he and Mother's Milk haven't been interesting since S1. Billy Butcher has only gotten annoying after S1. Starlight is the Mary Sue of the series but I still like her. I still love Homelander and Soldier Boy. If they kill Homelander which is very predictable like killing Cersei, then the series would end.
Homelander has to live to keep the show going. Or turn Soldier Boy as the main villain. Any show becomes less interesting without an antagonist. Homelander is the best TV character since Al Bundy. He's what stirs the pot. He's so intimidating and scary like Joe Pesci in Goodfellas and Casino because he's so unpredictable. There is always tension in his scenes because he's evil Superman. He can kill anybody at anytime including his papa, Soldier Boy.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Jensen Ackles remain close since their Supernatural days. Hence, why JDM is part of The Boys. He should be familiar with superhero projects as he was The Comedian in Watchmen and Thomas Wayne in Batman v Superman. It's weird how JDM portrayed Jensen's father in Supernatural when he's only 12 years older than him. It's similar to Sean Connery being only 12 years older than Harrison Ford but Sean still portrayed Indy's father. JDM tends to be very close with his co-stars. He's close with his TWD co-stars like Norman Reedus.
Targaryen sigil is a red dragon. Aegon II's sigil is one of a gold dragon because he rides Sunfyre. Rhaenyra and Daemon's personal sigils have red dragons on them. I wear the true colors of House Targaryen. Team Black, easily. Red dragons represents true born Targaryens. We better see Roddy the Ruin in Season 2. The season should start with Blood and Cheese and end with the Battle at Rook's Rest. A certain female character by 2x8 is going out a legend...

Never seen Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, any Marvel series on Netflix, Secret Invasion, and Succession, and the many other TWD spinoffs. I hear Better Call Saul is better than all these shows along with its predecessor, Breaking Bad. I wouldn't know, I've only seen a few episodes of Breaking Bad. Was going to include Angie Tribeca but nah. The series is very much like Police Squad! which started The Naked Gun Trilogy.
I've seen most of The Crown but I'll stick to comparing mostly nerd shit full of Easter eggs starting with LOST with the exceptions being Mad Men, Man Seeking Woman, Pam & Tommy, The Offer, and the canceled Winning Time since one of my passions is watching the NBA, NFL, and horse races to gamble on them. Hence, why movies like Maverick (1994) and Let It Ride (1989) are in my top 5 for favorite movies. I like watching characters win money in gambling!
Mike Judge's Beavis and Butt-Head on Paramount+ is funnier than the last 17 seasons of Family Guy and the last 3 seasons of Futurama prior to Hulu. Loki is my favorite TV series since early years of Family Guy or perhaps peak Married... With Children circa Season 5 (1991). Loki only has 12 episodes and Derry Girls has 19 episodes but neither one ever felt like it dropped drastically in quality like the other series. They were short and sweet. Highly rewatchable content. I'm not against female-centric series if Derry Girls is my #2 and I Love Lucy is my all-time favorite show.
Mad Men stayed very consistent from S1 to S7. Silicon Valley faded the last three seasons but it's still extremely rewatchable thanks to Gilfoyle, Galvin, Jared, Jian-Yang, Laurie, and Russ Hanneman staying funny. Lost interest in The Walking Dead by S7 like most fans did. I might drop Cobra Kai if Season 6 bombs like LOST S6 and GoT S8 did. As bad as Game of Thrones ended, it still remains one of the greatest TV shows ever. I'm not sure HOT D will ever top peak GoT because a lot of us already know what will happen with the Dance. And prequels rarely surpass the original content.

It's so weird to see LOST that low. It was my favorite thing on TV for half a decade. It's only at No. 13 from the backs of S1, S2, and S4. S5 was okay but S3 and S6 were bad. But The Walking Dead got placed even worse. I got into that before Game of Thrones circa 2013 because my girlfriend at the time and I were into zombie content. We saw World War Z and Warm Bodies together. We had copies of 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later. We played Plants vs. Zombies 1 and 2 next to each other. But TWD really hit a wall after two particular characters got killed by S7 thanks to Negan and his Lucille.
If Stranger Things has a good final season, I may place it higher. But it can be a little too much for me the way the animated Spider-Man films are. It's like Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. So much stuff is getting thrown at our faces that we don't have enough time to process on WTF is going on? I might have ADHD too but it's not that short. And I'm really not into that Russian shit in Stranger Things. It's supposed to be set in the 1980s but their tech seems way more advanced. What makes the series work are the characters similar to Cobra Kai.

While Loki is my *favorite,* Game of Thrones really is the *best* of these 36 shows I just compared. It excels in pretty much everything. Story, characters, cinematography, music, and feelz. But S7 and S8 really hurt the show in terms of rewatchability. It's all going to lead to Bran Stark on the throne ♿. 🤦🏻♂️ 🤮 It's the best show but with the absolute worst ending.

Aegon II isn't a true born Targaryen. Neither is Aemond. Their mother isn't a Targaryen. Daemon and Rhaenyra's kids with each other are true born Targaryens. Daemon and Rhaenyra are also born out of incest between two Targaryen parents. Incest is heavily promoted in that family so their blood can bond with dragons.
