House of the Dragon season 2 will introduce many new dragons and dragonriders, one of them being the most dangerous dragon, the Cannibal.
House of the Dragon sees House Targaryen at its best, with as many as 17 dragons alive. Some of the dragons we saw in season 1 of a Game of Thrones prequel series, but most of them are yet to appear, and in season 2 we are getting a first look at quite a few dragons. One of them is the most terrifying dragon from George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood, the Cannibal, confirmed by a show-runner to appear. The Cannibal was mentioned by Daemon Targaryen in House of the Dragon season 1 finale when he said that the Cannibal is one of the three wild dragons living at Dragonstone, all three of which they will try to tame and put on Rhaenyra Targaryen’s side during the Dance of the Dragons.
The Cannibal is the largest and oldest of the three wild dragons. The Cannibal is black as coal, with menacing green eyes. The Cannibal earned his name for his hostility towards House Targaryen's dragons, whom he is known to attack and devour.
The Cannibal, a huge and monstrous black wild dragon who ate many Targaryen dragons, rumored to have been alive before the Targaryens even came to Westeros and rumored to be even older than Balerion the Black Dread, is going to appear in season 2 of House of the Dragon and in this video, we are talking about the Cannibal and his history as well as his role in the Targaryen civil war.
We also theorize about the unknown origins of the Cannibal whose age and background is unknown, with some thinking that he is House Targaryen’s dragon gone rogue, while others theorize about him being the last Westerosi dragon, but in my theory, the Cannibal is some other Valyrian family’s dragon (non-Targaryen) who was left as egg on Dragonstone when it was Valyrian outpost before the Targaryens arrived hence why he is so antagonistic towards Targaryen dragons. After all, the smallfolk of Dragonstone does claim that the Cannibal was on Dragonstone before the Targaryens fled the Doom of Valyria and arrived to Westeros, over a hundred years before Aegon’s Conquest, a possibility that would make him, the oldest living dragon ever in Westeros, even older than Vhagar and mighty Balerion.

I think the Cannibal was a personification of the Targaryen downfall. He was black and green - the greens vs the blacks. He attacked and killed other dragons just as the Targaryens killed each other and the end of the Dance, he disappeared, signaling an end to their power and the magic they possessed over the dragons.
Damn didn’t think about it like that before
That’s a very likely theory.
Love this! 🐉
@@thanesilva4457 thanks!
Imagine the chaos in Westeros if somehow Daemon bonded with the Cannibal 💀
That would be amazing honestly. The chaos and destruction would be a must watch. Awww, now I want to see it.
That's my dream!😂😂n to fight Aemon n Vaghar!!

It honestly makes a lot of sense that Cannibal disappeared after the Dance of the Dragons. No more dragons to kill and eat, and a decline in new hatchlings means his primary food source would have vanished and he would have little reason to stay in Westeros. My guess is he flew East and there's a chance he may still be alive somewhere.
Most likley he fled to Skagos it seems to be a volcanic island since dragonglass can be found there thus a perfect habitat for a dragon
@@Maegorthecrueltargaryen isn’t Rickon Stark there as well in the books
I like the theory that The Cannibal was the egg of Maegor the Cruel. Maegor was described as having a wary relationship with dragons when he was a child, until he claimed Balerion. And of course someone like Maegor would only want the best of the dragons. Adding to the theory, it would add a hint of sadness to Cannibal if Maegor rejected him at the start of their bond, only to pick the larger dragon, making Cannibal hate everyone for the rest of his life.
Yeah but can’t be, Rhaenyra’s started that Targaryen tradition
He's said to have been there since before the Targaryens. Also other Valyrians lived on Dragonstone before, highly alluding to the fact that he's a remnant from that old house.
The Cannibal could also be a symbolism of the Targaryen civil war, the Dance of the Dragons itself. Given that it's a black dragon with green eyes that eats its kind, it literally symbolizes both Targaryen factions (the blacks and the greens) "eating" each other. It's also interesting that after the civil war where basically almost all members of both factions were dead, it vanished
It's a shame that the cannibal was too wild to be claimed. If someone had claimed him during the war, which ever side they fight on would have a major advantage.
Should’ve had him vs Vaghar
@@deontemartin3584 Cannibal easily wins. Even Caraxes wins against Vhagar and Caraxes is not as big or strong as Cannibal
He's not a Targaryen dragon in my eyes. If he was, someone in the span of 100 years should've claimed him already. He was probably a dragon that resided in Dragonstone that belonged to another Valyrian family before the Century of Blood when Dragonstone was built as the Westernmost outpost of the Valyrian Freehold. That’s why smallfolk of Dragonstone claims he lived there before Targaryens came. Valyrians are blood related to their dragons, and that's why they wanted to keep their bloodlines pure and not intermarry with other people; even other Valyrians who look exactly like them. Their blood will be diluted and the blood ties with the dragons are diminished. The Cannibal not being a Targaryen dragon theory is plausible.
I think the Cannibal is the most powerful dragon alive. Even if the smallfolk of Dragonstone are wrong and their claims of Cannibal being alive even before the Targaryens arrived to the island is false, it would still make him not that much younger than Vhagar, and Vhagar while bigger than the Cannibal, she is nowhere near fast nor ferocious as the Cannibal. I’m certain that if one side managed to tame him, that would have completely changed the outcome of the war in their favor
When I read Fire and Blood I grew quite fascinated of the Cannibal (like probably most of the fandom
I got the back history of cannibal actually cannibal is not a targarean dragon but he fall in love with a targarean dragon but unfortunately the targareans killed her with their dragons because she was not willing to be tamed so he became extremely angry and started to kill every dragon he saw ...
I really love to see dragon emotions also besides their fighting 😊
HBO and George RR Martin have a tremendous opportunity with the Cannibal. He's so clouded in mystery that you can do almost anything with him. You could say that smallfolk rumors are true and he did come to Dragonstone before the Targaryen dragons and he's not one of them. And since he's not a Targaryen dragon, that he has different genes so he ages and grows differently than the Targaryen dragons do. You could make it so after he left the dance, he went back to Old Valyria or the thousand islands to live and stayed hidden mostly. Just a lot you could do with the Cannibal…A LOT.
In my head canon, Daemon survived the crash against Vhagar, found Cannibal and both being chaotic made them bond with each other and then they flying somewhere to live out their remaining days. Neither of them were seen again it makes sense
Great video! Both; Cannibal’s lore and theories you brought are awesome! I really like the idea of him being a dragon that hatched from a clutch that belonged to a different Valyrian family that inhabited Dragonstone long before the Targaryens arrived. It leaves the Cannibal truly wild and not beholden to any Targaryen bloodlines which would explain why he cannot be bonded with by any members of House Targaryen, also would explain why he hates Targaryen dragons so much that he literally eats them.
The Cannibal disappeared after the Targaryen civil war. In the second book of ASOIAF, Dany's Dothraki bloodriders go off into the waste to look for help. One of them comes back and says that he saw the skeleton of a huuuuge dragon, so big that he and his horse could walk through it's skull. There were only a few known dragons that were that big, and the bodies of the other known ones are all accounted for. Perhaps it was Cannibal
Couldn't that have been a dragon from the freehold? I don't think it's said anywhere that the targ dragons are bigger than all of those that existed in valyria during the empire
@@Moonmerism didn’t they all die tho in Valyria
@@aerisaeris915 Nope, there were dragons outside Valyria during the doom but they didnt last long. besides the Valyrians went conquering everywhere so its understandable that dragonbones could be found all over the place.
I really like this theory that maybe Cannibal has descended from an entirely different line of dragons than the Targaryen dragon.….. It would explain his hostility and 'cannibalism' to all the rest of the dragons
The Cannibal might possibly be the personification of House Targaryen’s downfall. His eyes are green and his scales are black. Therefore showing the Targaryens killing each other.
Daemon & Caraxes are the best.👑🐉
Considering he was never confirmed dead, he has the right to be the largest dragon alive
FAB IS BACK!!!!
The Cannibal 🖤🐉
So excited to see Canibbal finally
Maybe the cannibal went to the place that balarion went to with the princes, if stuff their can harm balarion then it makes sense that sizeable prey could be there for the cannibal
Can't wait to see 'Cannibal'!!
I mean logically, the cannibal should be the second biggest dragon, since he wasn’t stunted by the dragon pit, so he had all the room he needs to grow bigger, drogon grew bigger than arax despite both growing between 10 years, it’s because the variety of food and the size of the environment he was in, so logically cannibal should at least the second biggest dragon in HOTD
doesn’t make any sense if the cannibal is older than balerion. Viserys mentioned that balerion is the last living dragon to have seen the old valyria
Imagine him becoming Jon's Dragon. The one who brought an end to the white-haired Targaryen bloodline.
FAB IS BACK FOMOS
Definitely the coolest and most mysterious dragon in Game of Thrones history
GEET HYPEEEEEE
Which source confirms that cannibal gona appear in season 2.?
Already mentioned by showruner 5 new drogons r going to com in 2 , tyraxes, moondancer, stormcloud, silverwings r confirmed . 1 left i could either be a sheepsteler.
Reply please
They said something about the 3 wild dragons being their favourite designs, which suggests they’re in season 2 since why would u make 3 unique designs, before knowing if the show would even be renewed
@@RandomMackem3247 ok...
I get ur point but problem is that 5 gonna appear in 2..
3 already confirmed 4th will be 💯 silwerwings and fifty ?
When the doom happen and the where still dragons in the free cities it rider most have been killed and just like balerion and area sunfyre and Aegon it return to the place it hatched drogonstone. Which was occupied by the targaryen for only 12 years making barley older than balerion and smaller than the other four . In his younger year it most have acted like Grey ghost until able to feed one hatchlings and the young drakes because he was old and other dragons where more accessibility in the area any other prey of sufficient size he would have to hunt for miles like sheepsteeler.
For those saying Cannibal is older than the 3 OG Targaryen Dragons Why the Hell Cannibal is Smaller Compare too Vhagar & Vermithor 2 Captive Targaryen Dragons that once reside in Dragonpits while Cannibal lived its entire life in Wilderness THOSE PEOPLE SAYING THE REASON TARGARYENS DRAGONS ARE NOT COMPARABLE TOO ITS PREDECESSORS IS BECAUSE THEY ARE KEPT IN DRAGONPITS WHILE THOSE IN WILD GROWN UNTINTERUPTED SO WHY CANNIBAL IS MUCH SMALLER COMPARE TO VERMITHOR A CAPTIVE DRAGONS .
Not older, bigger because, he was never confined to the dragon pit meaning he had everything he needed to grow, we saw how fast drogon grew in just 10 years, and I think the cannibal is older than vermithor but not vhagar
Now it would be cool, if a dragon can live almost an immortal life. If they were to get the Snow show out, which I know it has been put on the back burner, That the Cannibal would be Snow's dragon. Just Saying. I can dream, lol.
Sheepstealer belongs to nettles unless HOTD changes the lore yet again
No one said he doesn’t. Denys only tried to tame it and died. Nettles tamed him later
Your forgetting everyone who lives and dies is suppose to so Jon Snow can be born everything happens as it should dragons seen tapped into this fact so he could just be a rogue god inside a dragon culling dragons for the future outcome
I love this dragon 🐉 even tho he eats other dragons and he is riderless 😎
I know this is off topic but I hate how floppy and flubby they made Vhagar. It’s annoying.
Me too, I expected such a fearsome dragon..
Well she’s old as hell, nearing balerions age, and she’s like crocodile
I think Cannibal is still alive and he is waiting for his actual rider who is coming beyond the wall . A king with blue eyes and white skin carrying an ice spear.
The theory was that cannibal was waiting for the prince who was promised
🔥🔥🐉🐉
I hope the show doesn't go with these stupid rumors.
like 100 woohoo
This video could have been 3 mins…bro kept repeating everything.
