I love the contrast in Arianna`s and Maple`s style of clothing. Maple coming home straight from duck hunting and Arianna was out for a glass of wine on a warm summer eve
Maple had a hard day of work at the lumber yard in the Pacific North West. 😂

@@thatonedoood Lol, I had ONE job to do!
When this came out, I was in my mid teens and this movie was awesome as hell. Very much a product of the early 2000s. Even the soundtrack was amazing.
Lol big limp bizkit fan?
It's very John Woo.
@@Diegesis Lol, I was more a fan of the song. But they also put a badass Metallica tune in there too.
The freaking knife to the eye stunt was real. Real knife, real Tom's eye. It was attached to a cable so it couldn't go lower.
This movie definitely a product of its era
every movie is
@@joaolucasgomes3033 not true at all, plenty of movies are timeless, and not tied down to a particular era
And what a good time, very bad ass, I love it!!! now everyone is very politically correct in cinema, a very boring cinema, without author's style, a very washed and generic cinema, that doesn't transmit anything, we miss the times of Paul Verhoeven, John Woo, Tony Scott, Ridley Scott, John McTiernan, Richard Donner, Renny Harlin, Marco Brambilla, Jan De Bont, etc, directors of action movies with balls, who did whatever they wanted.
However MI-2 is the movie I remember the most of the whole saga, I know every moment, it is a movie with a lot of author's style, John Woo's, memorable action scenes, something that does not happen to me with MI-4, MI-5 for example, very flat movies, without style, generic action of which I do not remember anything anymore, it is because they lacked director's style.
Dougray Scott, the villain of the movie, was cast as Wolverine in the live action X MEN movie, but due to an injury onset, he dropped out and Hugh Jackman played the beloved comic book character.
Ah ha!!! I though I heard that. Thank you for bringing that up.
Unfortunately he then went on to die by playing in the CW show BatWhaman. For several inexplicable seasons.
But it's not a fall from grace, no, it's the RISE of his COMEDY role second career lol.
That piece of trivia is an amazing sliding doors 'What if' moment?
The movie has so many twists while remaining predictable because they wrote the action setpieces first, then wrote story to combine them together.
This made me nostalgic for Rade Sherbedgia (the scientist). He's a Croatian actor that exploded onto the scene in the mid-90s and then faded out. He was in The Saint, Mighty Joe Young, Eyes Wide Shut, Stigmata, Mi-2, Space Cowboys, Snatch, then did bit parts in EyroTrip and Batman Begins. Still working, but just not in big movies anymore.
And it's a little painful at time seeing them laugh at John Woo's stylistic flourishes. In his element with material he can work with, Woo can be amazing. But yeah, Woo was 'miscast' as director for this movie and his style is often awkward in this movie. It's a spy thriller, Cruise wanted an action opus and Woo clearly wanted to make a romantic melodrama.
The Director definitely got studio notes “ more slowmo”😂
I’m sure the studio notes were “less slo-mo,” and this is where we landed.
Haha, as someone who has watched alot of John Woo, the doves, slo mo and weird close ups are all him. His late 80s and early 90s Hong Kong films basically paved the way for stuff like John Wick today.
His American stuff however (Face/Off, Paycheck) didn't hit the same. Broken Arrow is probably his best American film but The Killer and Hardboiled are some of his best work overall. Chow Yun-Fat is a helluva leading man in those action classics.
@@habadasheryjonesAlso spinning down into a crouch (probably with two guns). It's a weirdly specific JW shot that Snyder borrows for a scene in 300.
This is far and away the campiest Mission Impossible movie they made
Limp bizkit's Take a look around is still a banger 🤟🤟
This is the least good movie of the franchise, but then, it has the best soundtrack. Limp Bizkit, Metallica, Rob Zombie..,.
the mission impossible movies get a lot better after this and they keep getting better.
Might be one of the most underrated action movies of all time.
1. The Zimmer score
2. The Biocyte robbery/escape
3. The Hugh Stamp mask reveal
4. Sean Ambrose was the perfect villain/006 Sean Bean esque
5. Rock climbing.
@Karaokuma those are both highly rated and regarded, which is why I mentioned underrated
These American John Woo films don't touch The Killer, A Better Tomorrow 1 & 2 or Hardboiled. Those films are actually underrated action cinema. They make John Wick action look clinical and boring by comparison.
By far the worst of the series… everything was too overcooked. Just my opinion.
Dunno about underrated action movie but the rock climbing at the start I found insanely stressful and gripping.
I’m glad all y’all liked it lol
Maple's cackle laugh had me dying with laughter
Ah, John Woo stylish action. Hate him or like him, he has a recognizable style that is immediately recognizable. With the right movies it works, with the wrong movies, same style just does not fit. But when you hire John Woo you know what you will get, that's for sure. A lot like hiring Guy Ritchie. His style works for British crime movies, but not for period pieces.
Can’t wait for the next one cause they just get better from their
facts, i was hoping they would skip this one tbh
its wild how 2 is a bollywood feeling film and then 3 is still considered a top contender in action movies
@@commanderwyro4204For me, 3 is simply the best of them all.
2 is my least favorite and as I get older I start to change my order of my fav not that it matters to a bunch of strangers
Fun fact!
The Metallica song featured on the soundtrack (titled 'I Disappear') was the song that was leaked onto Napster that pissed off Lars and co., which led to the shutdown of Napster.
Also this movie is the black sheep of the franchise, but I love every banana cheeseball moment...EVEN THE DOVES FLYING IN FROM NOWHERE lmao
edit: another fun fact! Dougray Scott, the villain of the film, was the original choice for Wolverine
the "explanation" for why ethan was allowed so many run-up attacks, is because ambrose was "out / punch drunk" on his feet after the first superman punch. ambrose was in survival mode but at the same time, ethan wasn't pulling his punches anymore [something ambrose had given ethan shit for in the past].
Fun fact, Dougray Scott (Sean Ambrose in this) was signed up to be Wolverine in the first X-men movie. This shooting on this movie overran making him unavailable, so they replaced him with Hugh Jackman!
Oh.. and he's Scottish, he's just has an odd accent and he's hamming it up.
Instead of picking mistakes out! Just enjoy the ride!
not seeing the mistakes of this film is the real mission Impossible.
Nah, this movie is very dated and hard not to see the blaring obvious tropes. I won't say mistakes but definitely tropes of its time. Like Starship troopers.
This movie was all shot in Sydney...even the mansion in Seville Spain. And I love that you picked all the signature John Woo shots. 👍
This movie is a blast. So cool to see Woo have a big budget
Maples laugh got me effed up😂😂😂
Don't worry, this was the silliest of the MI films. It only goes up from here with a return to roots but modernized. I saw MI3 in the theater and it was pretty dope, it's a dope entry into the series, and the rest get awesomer.
Fun fact. Tom Cruise accidentally kicked the stunt guy in the face at 30:04. You can see his reaction afterwards
lmao this was a great reaction and I love how some of it was just you two roasting the movie. Great video
I love when the girls watch things I’ve seen a million times. 🤗This is a John Woo movie, and he was known for “over the top” action movies in the 80’s and 90’s, so, I think perhaps Face/Off should be in the running to be reacted to….and if that one has already been done, then maybe Hard Target. And then they can go on a Jean Claude Van Damme run…
All of that was en lieu of just typing “Keep up the good work.”💚
The real life daughter of Thandie Newton, the actress playing Nyah, played Sarah - Joel's daughter in The Last Of Us on HBO.
Did Maple just get back from bear hunting ? Asking for a friend.
Dougray Scott is Scottish... FREEDOM !
Hard Target with Van Damme is far more satisfying.
Hardboiled in the best.
Maple really is living up to her name this episode with that whole outfit.... Lumberjack maple chopping down some hardwood😂😂
It is what it is, lol. It is definitely in tough company that's for sure, but I can still give it respect for trying out different stuff. Like for a while each outing had it's own genre-feel going for it. Anyhoo... can't wait for you two to get to the rest of them now! Maybe even Man From UNCLE?
I can't wait for yall to get deeper into this franchise, it just gets better and better
“Uppies” hahahaha 😂 damnit, now all I see is shorty short man lol
Maple's Sopranos Bobby Baccala Pine Barrens cosplay is excellent, 👌
I was thinking Dexter, but Bobby is a good one...
yup, MI2, this was a movie...some people REALLY liked this directors style back in the day
the style worked better in his early movies. it just didnt translate to the american ones.
The sciencenist at the beginning will always be Boris the bullet dodger lol😅for ever. The 2nd MI is basically a John Woo kung foo movie with all the slow mo and motorcycle jumps while shooting 😂 gotta love it.
maple looks like an uncle about to light the campfire
While usually considered the worst of the MIs (I'm not a huge fan of 3), MI2 is still a fun John Woo movie.
For more of John's Hollywood work - Face/Off, Broken Arrow, Hard Target, and Paycheck
For John's superior Hong Kong work - Hard Boiled, The Killer, A Better Tomorrow, and Red Cliff
Absolutely love Hard Boiled. The shootout in the tea house is hard to beat in regards to action. Actually Tequila vs the mob in the warehouse or the entire hospital sequence are equally great. Never seen Red Cliff I'll have to check it out.
Can I share your video as a reaction video on my channell?
Yess :))))
@@avaharper9310 Hahaha
Dougray Scott, the villain, has a Scottish accent. Weird how so many Americans can't tell. I'm Canadian and it's clear as day to me!
As Hunt is climbing at the beginning the song is Iko Iko which is a song also from his film “Rainman”
"All of the people in the background look like they're literally 14."
Welcome to Y2k ladies. Lol
It’s a miracle this movie series survived and even recovered from Part 2
Cant seem to click the link at the end...or is it a trick and there's no link?
Its always baffled me that the discussion videos never appear in the video list to watch separately.
He doesn’t start to do his own stunts until the fourth one, you can tell in the centerpieces in the way that they’re film that it’s him versus the first three. Although in the first film he does technically hang on the wire and balance.
Not true... He started doing his own stunts in the first one... It's what started him on his path of insisting on doing his own stunts... The scene in the first one where he voted up the giant fish tank in the restaurant, was done in one shot... That was Tom's start in stunts...
@marvel-ousre-grind8724 Yes I know that if he does his own stunt when it comes to him dangling/running from the fish tank, but obviously these two are not going to ask if he actually did that as it’s not that impressive. At least compared to what they’ve heard of, what they would really likely ask is “wait did he actually fight on top of that train?” Which the answer of course would be no, every major action set piece in these movies all the way up until ghost protocol is not real, he doesn’t actually do his own stunts in any of them. Obviously in each film there are certain scenes where he’s doing a stunt, but the sun is not big enough for Integra enough to the story for them to actually care
That is actually Tom doing it and he does all of his own Stunts and gets the rest of the cast to do it to ❤😂🎉😢😮😅
They definitely need to do Vin Diesel's tripe XXX after this.
A whole other level in everything.
It was kinda cool when it came out because it really played to everything that was hot. But that also made it the one film that went stale, because it was so trend-based. it has cool stuff in it, but also a lot of cringe. And John Woo is going hard in this. It doesn't at moments even feel like a Hollywood film, because it's melodrama and over the top-ness.
One of my favorite sequels of all time.
Fired up that Hong Kong legend, John Woo was the helmer.
The trailers were so good with high expectations.
The songs, Limp Bizkit's "Take a Look Around" (Theme from M:I-2)
and Metallica's I Disappear were awesome AF.
Hans Zimmer scored this one and Gladiator, same year.
So much energy, pace and presentation.
John Woo as an master of action filmmaking brings the heat.
Cruise going into action mode was so beyond expectations with great sequences.
Dougray Scott (villain Sean Ambrose) was originally casted as Wolverine for X-Men.
He was injured during the film's production and couldn't make the scenes on call.
So they recasted with 29 year old, Hugh Jackman.
This was the No.1 movie of 2000.
First highest grossing film of the millenium.
Yet it's considered the weakest/hated sequel of the franchise.
Because of the reception, M:I-2 is a 'completely' standalone sequel.
Only 5 of the 6 films, from the 1st, the 3rd and beyond fully connect.
i was drinking milk during the car chase part and Maple's laugh made me laugh and made milk come out my nose
Director : Let's use CGI
Tom : I am CGI ( Cruise Going Insane)
It’s obvious neither of the girls have slid off the side of a canyon at high speed…instant love after that!!
and it shows
3 is awesome, 4 is awesome, 5 is AWEsome and 6 is AWESOME! So excited for the new ones.
very good; under-rated film...and Thandi Newton, my Lord...i've never, to this day felt my heart melt...she is beautiful in every way...in this film. that being said though....im 46 now....so, my heart....prolly on its last leg
Is this a reaction or an SNL skit? For a moment, I thought the reactor on the left was impersonating Julia Sweeney. Why is she dressed like it's winter and she's going hunting? 😂😂😂
Little know fact, Ben Stiller was Tom Cruz’s Stuntman for this movie, don’t believe me look it up, also I grew up in a time when we got this movie on dvd, special features where such a common thing.
Maple... when you have a movie reaction in the morning, but trucking long haul in the evening 😂 quality.
Hahaha
This was the first major movie to actually be set in Sydney
Others, like the Matrix were filmed here, but set in some future city
The villain is played by Dougray Scott who was cast to play the Wolverine in the upcoming X-Men film but shooting for this film ran over scedule and so the X-Men team chose their next alternate - Hugh Jackman
This is my favorite Mission Impossible movie. Such a great score and so action-packed.
When I was 18 and this movie had just come out, I was into it. But watching it back now, I can't stop face palming. The flashy kicks alone that make no sense whatsoever. The most ridiculous one being Cruise kicking upwards, hitting home and then finishing in a backwards roll? I mean...how? You disperse all force and momentum the moment your kick hits, so there is nothing keeping you going anymore.
"What is happening" yeah, sums up this film pretty well
Ay y'all the MI discussion videos are hard to find, the end card link for this one doesn't work either.
John Woo's American films aren't my favorite, but they are good for a laugh. His Hong Kong films, specifically the ones starring Chow Yun-Fat, I think are way better.
@@LordVadersAccountant I agree 100%. The John Woo dialogue in English by American actors just doesn't work the same. I think the action is too clean in his American films thanks to bigger budgets and it loses all of the grit and energy as a result.
On the topic of Hardboiled, the warehouse scene is what blew me away. I knew of the hospital sequence going in to watching it the first time but the warehouse caught me off guard. There is a 15 second sequence where a dude slides his dirtbike lights up some goons, kicks off the bike, spins and continues to light goons up in the smoothest motion I've ever seen. Effortless. Its like something out of an anime or comic book that translated perfectly to live action. In that same sequence a motorcycle blows up while a live stuntmen is clearly riding it and I don't know how they did that stunt without killing a man.
All this to say that American John Woo never reached these heights and thats tragic to me because alot of Americans have stigmas about watching "old" films or foreign films with subtitles so all most people know of John Woo is Face/Off and this film.
It would be like if Scorsese was only known for Shutter Island meanwhile his real classics remain obscure to the general public.
Dougray Scott is Scottish, no Russian, No Canadian, No Swahili, just Scottish.
20:00 "I think if I were going to be a monkey, I'd be an orangutan." Good choice. Red hair is hot. But orangutans are apes, not monkeys.
Excuse me is this the hunter‘s convention reaction? 😂
I think you guys are confusing dramatic lighting with green screen.
I think it was lit like it was green screened so it seems like it when it's not. The rim lighting is impossibly intense even outdoors lol
@@Diegesis it's definitely the most "Hollywood" of the series with all the cheese that comes with that. Lol
And this is why Mission Impossible started to get better with the third edition. It was an unintentional comedy.
love this subseries with maple and arianna, they are so peppy and into it
I like the ice fishing/obi-wan combo theme you've got going on :)
This is a John Woo movie. Enough said
See the doves!
You have got to get Tim Allen back commenting again this is awesome 😁
Why does Maple look like she was hunting elk right before this recording?
Maple does seem to be giving the brewsy bros vibes. I can't remember their real name just the Canadian beer brothers off SNL 😂 she got the right name for it lol
12:18 thandie newton was just next level, i dont know what else to say 🫡
"Gimme those tittaes!" Cut to big pharma. That made me laugh.
Maple's going elk hunting after this reaction. Lol.
Pheasant
The "WTF is this" kick is called a Webster.
Sorry, Maple isn't here right now because she's gone fishing 😅
Dougray Scott is Scottish.
Didn't know Anakin Skywalker was the villain of Mission Impossible 2
Maximum Thandie Newton close up please!!!!!
MI:2 is weird for me lol. Still fun, yet so bad at the same time :D
First time watching this.
1. Why is Maple dressed like the dad from Honey I Shrunk the Kids
2. Yall should react to the MTV short with Tom Cruse and Ben Stiller on the making of MI:2
Did you girls catch on to the fact that the woman at the beginning is the real life mother of the girl that plays sarah in the last of us?
lol i didnt even know that
Imagine having Hans Zimmer scoring your movie only to reuse the Gladiator soundtrack. They knew the acting, story and action were cheesy and needed at least an epic score.
There was something going on with them two, you convinced me
My dad took me to see this movie in theaters when i was 10
Maple if you’re going hunting after this one you need more orange 😅
Why the hell does your video keep bleeping out Ambrose saying "Hunt"? 😆
i thought it was funny
Yes. There is a lot of John Woo. Like in "Face Off" - there is NOTHING strange at ALL to FEEL with the palm of your hand ON someone elses FACE, again and again - ALL DAY LONG! But the start is one of the best. I just wished that the would have the prolog - then TO the Paramount-loggo from the Plane-CRASH-MOUNTAIN then BACK - interlaced with direct transition to Ethan (YES TOM climbing around on that rock.) Like "Waterworld" (I call it "Dances With Whales") - the best thing in THE WHOLE movie is UNIVERSAL-loggo - zoom in - WATER fills up the WHOLE EARTH.
It's not his HEIGHT!!!! It's his commitment!!! 😮😊🧐
I usually tell people they can skip MI1 and 2 and just start at 3. I like John Woo's work but this wasn't it. John Woo also did 'Face/Off' which i liked when i was younger.
I Disappear is still fantastic!! 🤘😎🤘❤ LETS GOOOOOOO!!! :D
GD I miss the 90s/00's!!! 😂🤣😂🤣 Great soundtrack to this! :D
So much fun to watch, so many laughs. Maybe sneak in a Face/Off reaction sometime?
wasn't this one made during one of the writer's strike?
that would make the writing make sense but the filmmaking blows too lol
I have never really counted this one as a MI movie. Too much John Woo flashiness. The next one really starts to flesh out the structure and tone for the rest of the series. They just get better and better seems..
hahaha upi upi got me soo good
I love all Mission Impossible movies.
Thanks for the video!
This is easily my least favorite Mission Impossible. Then again, I've never been a fan of John Woo's American movies. (Gotta have that absurd flying doves shot)
