I like that Saul is the last of the group to leave. He's the only one with the life experience to fully comprehend and appreciate what they were able to pull off, so he stays longer to take it all in.
I swear to God, Ocean's Twelve is one of the most stylish and experimental genre films I've ever seen. It has the best cinematography (that "Peter Andrews" fella sure has a career ahead of him!), music (David Holmes is THE MAN), and the most deliriously convoluted yet aggressively entertaining plots ever. Best of the franchise, without question.
@@SchulzEricT Dude, there's SO much to pick apart in Twelve. I adore how ridiculous it is as a plot and on a storyline level. Then the visuals are so wild and interesting that it's wild to me that WB gave Soderbergh $55 million to make what's basically an experimental heist film. I seriously wish there was a Criterion of the trilogy with a focus in the special features on the cinematography and editing in particular for each film, but Twelve mainly. So many unbelievably unique shots and styles and compositions that are a sight to behold.
@@MadeoN when he hops out the window and the shot freezes and the credits start.. my God it's such a specific thing to point out but it's such a great moment.
The lowest point in my life I had no money and didn't live anywhere for more than several months but I had Ocean's 11, The Italian Job, and Mr. Deeds on VHS and an 11 inch CRT and basically just watched them over and over again.
because on a live pit floor in a casino, a blackout would mean people would/could grab loose chips, grab loose cash, grab cards, essentially steal tons of money thats loosely flowing on the pit floor. Hence, instant chaos if a casino floor goes black, everyone becomes a thief for 30 seconds.
The Ocean trilogy is a fun series to watch. 11 is the best, 12 got a lot of hate cause it tried to do something different but I recently rewatched it and thoroughly enjoyed it, 13 is unapologetically over the top and I love it. Hoping you react to those in the future.
Sameeee, i didnt like 12 when i first watched it. But a couple years late i really enjoyed it after another rewatch! So many good scenes like the lost in translation 😂
I love that you described Claire de Lune by Debussy as "calm jazz piano." (to be fair, debussy's "Impressionist" harmony does indeed have things in common with jazz harmony, love em' both.")
Also, more Soderbergh, PLEASE. Traffic, Out of Sight, Che, Sex Lies and Videotape, Haywire, Erin Brockovich... the guy has one of the most incredible and eclectic careers in American cinema.
While you need a healthy dose of suspension of disbelief, everything is so well done and works so well together that it's very easy to just enjoy the ride. From the acting to the directing and pacing, this is one slick movie I really recommend!
Just discovered the channel and as an avid movie nerd I love your reactions to dicovering all those classics and cult movies! You are such a joy! Best!
I'm so glad you pointed out Andy Garcia's crooked eye at the end. I noticed that the first time I saw this movie at 13 and I grin about it every time I see it lol.
Lord, I love your smile when you're amused. 🙂 BTW, Elliot Gould, the actor you like so much playing Rubin, was in the original film of MASH (1970). While that film is flawed from our perspective (in particular, its gender politics are terrible), it is one of the great antiwar comedies, and Gould is particularly fine in it. Also -- the musical piece at the end of the last Las Vegas sequence was Debussy's "Claire de Lune" -- classical, not jazz. :)
Great great movie and great reaction. One would think as good as this movie is, that the sequels couldn't even come close to being this good, but I really enjoyed all three of them roughly the same amount so looking forward to seeing Arianna's reaction to the others.
The character Han in the Fast and Furious franchise copies Pitt; whenever we see him onscreen, he's eating a snack. I heard this was a homage to Pitt's character. Anyway, if I''m wrong, then I'm in Barney.
Back in the day, when movies used to play at the cinema, I was pondering in front of Ocean's Eleven, should I go see it. Helpful passers-by told me to see it. It was the best recommendation I've ever had.
I love this movie and have seen it so many times. That being said, I always knew the actor who played Ruben was familiar but I have never taken time to figure out why. My mind was just blown! lol
I love the line in The Office when Michael is making his movie & he's like, "this isn't Oceans 11 where you get your friends together & don't care how it turns out" 😂
I also love Elliot Gould. He was one of the first celebrities' I got to see in person. One of my Wife's and my first dates and first live performance we went to had him in it. He was one of the leads in a touring performance of Deathtrap, and have love him ever since.
The Ocean's trilogy is, aside from The Lord of the Rings, my favourite trilogy of movies. Such a fun, thrilling, happy and smart ride from start to end.
Watching your Last Samurai reaction. Takes me back. If you want to see something along the same lines, but better imo... Ty Fearless with Jet Li. Beautiful movie. Yes, you will cry. Lol
Just a fun fact: Eliot Gould, the guy you love so much, was once married to Barbara Streisand, movie producer, director, actress, Broadway star and according to some, the greatest female vocalist of the 20th century.
Nobody thought that this "Rat Pack" classic could be revamped into greatness. I saw the 1960's original before the remake came out. Also it re-established the 'Heist Comedy' that the original had first introduced. Great cast. One of the best ensembles ever. They all had such a good time working together. Going by the 'behind the scenes' footage and interviews. The most recent installment was the spinoff, Ocean's 8 (2018) and it was unexpectedly good. But work your way through Ocean's 12 & 13 first. RIP to the legends, Bernie Mac (Frank Catton), Carl Reiner (Saul Bloom) and Jerry Weintraub (lead producer of the Ocean's Trilogy, 2001-2007).
Legit one of my favorite movies of all time. I'm not a fan of the sequels, any of them, at all. But they have their fans, so they must have something for someone.
My pops made me watch original and in that one the dude really has heart attack and they hid money from robbery in his casket that got cremated so they didn’t get ish from the robbery. Fkn great ending.
My Elliot Gould movie recommendation for you is called the Vanishing Act. With Mike Farrell, Fred Gwynne and Margot Kidder. No need to watch as a reaction, just enjoy. Love your reaction to Tropic Thunder, I have watched it at least a dozen times.
I was thinking this would be a good change compared to the recent hardcore stuff. Can't take Andy Garcia seriously as a villain though. Seen him involved in so many charities and whatnot, so it's more a step back appreciating his acting.
Honestly, though, as a CSI, i find the fact that they just walked out with over $160 million as the most implausible portion of the movie. a stack of 1000 $100 bills weighs exactly 1Kilogram. So, $100,000 is 2.2 pounds. Multiply that by the amount of money they stole and that's 1.6 TONS, 3,520 POUNDS. 11 of them wouldn't be enough to just carry it out of the casino vault.
One of my favorite movies ever. Twelve is pretty good and Thirteen is as good or better than Eleven. This is the kind of movie that every time I watch it I pick up on something I never noticed before.
One thing that always bugged me..... The Amazing Yen SHOULD have gotten more money than all of them. He risked his life by getting in that container, and had to trust them everything would work properly otherwise he would have suffocated.
minor continuity issue. The vault had the green lasers that Yen had to avoid... yet the explosion would have set them off. So avoiding them was pretty much pointless. if they are going to go off anyway, would have been quicker just crossing the floor and ignoring them.
The one thing that irks me out about this movie is the weight of 150 million dollars, which is the amount they took from the casino. Even if I were to give the movie the most charitable circumstances, meaning that the 150m are entirely made out of $100 bills, and that all 11 of them were there to carry it, the weight of the loot should be about 1500kg, or 3,300 pounds.. Each person would have to carry 300 pounds out of the casino, 150 on each hand.. so how?
Everyone of the cast members here will say this is where they became close friends. Clooney says this is where his long running prank war with Brad Pitt began, as well as his friendship with Julia Roberts.
The late Carl Reiner (Saul) Is a Comic genius . From Show of Shows to the Dick Van Dyke Show to the Jerk . 98 Years of Brilliance . The ending group scene at the fountain was the last scene they filmed, and was mostly improvised; the instructions were for Brad Pitt to leave first, and for Carl Reiner to leave last. The others just walked away when it felt natural. In fact, the fountain scene only came about when the director couldn't figure out how to get the group to separate after the heist, and just happened to be leaning on the fountain railing as he was thinking. There are plenty of other aspects worth looking into.

Steven Soderbergh has an eye like very few filmmakers working today. He's got such an incredible and eclectic career to explore.

Arianna has such a wholesome vibe in this reaction. So endearing.
In terms of Grand Gestures of love... this guy orchestrated the greatest heist ever in order to win back his ex-wife. Nothing less than Shakespearean.
While you need a healthy dose of suspension of disbelief, everything is so well done and works so well together that it's very easy to just enjoy the ride. From the acting to the directing and pacing, this is one slick movie I really recommend!
The final song at the Bellagio is 'Clair de lune' by Claude Debussy, and the same song that ends, in a similar way, the movie The Right Stuff (1983).
