The best gag in the film is when Michael Keaton says: "I have to work two jobs. One here and the other at Bed Bath in Beyond. Im trying to put my kid into NYU so he can explore is bisexuality and become a DJ."
I remember watching this movie for the first time and I needed to pause the movie because I was so absolutely stunned with laughter. It's very rare that a movie puts me in fits like that scene did. The hard cut to the funeral... I was done
I don't understand why this film is not on much more Best Comedy lists. It's very rare for me to laugh throughout the entire length of a film but this one delivers on multiple levels and as an added plus it is a very well-made movie from a purely technical standpoint.
I agree. in my opinion, it is one of the few movies ever made where truly almost every scene is hilarious and quotable. Up there with step brothers, big lebowski, anchorman, austin powers, Talladega nights, etc. Plus michael keaton is the silent killer in this, he absolutely NAILED his role. even his bloopers/outtakes had me crying laughing
I recommend it to everyone I talk to when favorite movies come up. I'm still surprised how many people havent seen it. I watch it anytime I see it on. Funny as hell.
The entire “aim for the bushes” scene might be one of the funniest comedy scenes of any comedy movie within the past 30 years 😂. The buildup for their characters makes you believe they are going to be a major part of the movie then the buildup within the scene itself makes you think the action of the movie is beginning right there and up until the very last second their death isnt even a thought in your mind. I seriously cant help but laugh literally every time i see it or even think about it.
To be honest, when I first saw the trailer for this, I thought another stupid Will Farrell movie, plus Marky Mark isn’t comedic. All it took was seeing The Rock and Samuel L. Jackson jumping to sell me on this movie. Outside of Tropic Thunder it probably is one of my favorite comedies.
The most unbelievable part of this movie is them actually having to tell the golfers at top golf to start trying to hit the helicopter. As anyone who's ever been on a driving range knows... anything that walks, drives, crawls, rolls, or flies onto the range immediately becomes target number 1.
if you havent seen all of his bloopers/outtakes for this movie you HAVE to watch them. theyre absolutely hilarious some of them i cant believe they cut from the movie
I love Michael Keaton in this. The TLC quotes and when he's whisper yelling at them at the funeral. I always recommend Multiplicity for a Michael Keaton comedy. It's pretty ridiculous and silly but he's hilarious in it. Also, if you want a good 90s action movie with Ice-T, check out Surviving the Game. Based on the Most Dangerous Game short story where they hunt a human. Ice-T is pretty damn cool in it.
I haven't heard anyone mention Surviving the Game ever. Glad I'm not the only fan. Gary Busey and John McGinley were brilliant in that! And of course Ice T
According to an article about The Other Guys, the director answer why Michael Keaton's character makes many references to TLC. "We were trying to write phrases for the captain that were tough-guy euphemisms," McKay said. "We had a draft where he said all this crazy stuff and out of that I started to say, 'Don't go chasing waterfalls,' and everyone started laughing. Then we called it back two more times, and then Keaton was doing them so well, we added more." "We came up with a whole backstory that he drove his son to college and his son played a TLC greatest-hits CD the whole time but the captain was never aware what he was listening to," he added. "We knew at least 35 percent of the audience would have no idea who TLC is, but we were like, It's too funny!' "
So the captain genuinely didn’t understand the references he made? That’s hilarious 😂 Though I originally thought he was intentionally referencing them but acting like he didn’t understand
"I'm a peacock, you gotta let me fly!" I use that line WAY too much. I did get to use the "It's Bed Bath, and Beyond, not Bed, Bath, and way the f*ck out there" line once.
I’ve always loved the joke where he mentions editing 3 minutes out of Goodfellas, I figured he edited out the cuss words, and that took a whole three minutes off.🤣
If you haven't seen "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby" with Will Ferrell, I recommend it. I really love your reactions. And I see that your smile and your laugh start from your good heart. All the best, you're great! 😀
I adore this movie. Out of that whole sequence of films that Will Ferrell did with Adam McKay, this is easily my favorite, and I feel like it's quasi-forgotten, for some reason. Admittedly, I am biased, since I'm from NYC, live there now, and had just moved back there three months earlier when this came out in 2010, so, it occupies a certain place in my heart, since the summer of 2010 was very important to me. My ex-girlfriend and I watched it on repeat at least once-a-week for the following three years. She and I still randomly quote it to each other to this day! I love that this whole film just REEKS of 2009/2010 NYC, helped along by it being filmed almost-entirely on location. ....90% of it in Chelsea, for some reason? But the best part might be Michael Keaton, basically just being himself. XD And a special shout out to the end credits spending their entire length just flipping the bird at the entire finance industry and megacorporations, even ending with a pile of money underneath the Sony logo! Wonder if McKay got chewed out for that.
Possibly didn't get chewed out. You can wag your finger at them. But, you can't wag the finger at the politicians who bail them out and take their money. That threatens Democracy?!?
Funny when will ferrel talks about he calls bullshit on people walking away from explosions 🤣 considering his part in “cool guys don’t look at explosions “ song 🤣
This was such an underrated movie. Comedies are difficult to have consistently funny from star tto finish without becoming old or a burden to get through. The Other guys was funny from the beginning to the credits rolling with a final joke. It brings a tear to my eye because it is so perfect. I dont think itd be as funny if both main characters didnt have their own tpyecast in hollywood. "The sound of your urine hitting the urinal....it sound feminine..." Like, bruh, why is that so funny
Will just happens to be in some of the most iconic guy movies ever, one that he wasn't in tho was Tropic Thunder but i guess it would've been waaaay too many big names. This movie is from when almost every movie I went to in the theaters Samuel l Jackson was in it. Like I wasn't trying to see movies he was in but it was like he was taking a role in every movie he could get into.
My favorite joke is the one that goes untold and you don't even realize it until a rewatch: the story Sheila and Allen (Gator) tells about how they met in the hospital, Allen's bout of poison ivy ass, is a made up story. So they made up THAT story, rather than something less embarrassing. I like the humility to leave that laugh for you to find later.
THAT'S WHO IT IS!!! I've been watching your channel for a while and I always swore that you looked so familiar but I couldn't place it... Eva Mendes!!! You look like Eva Mendes!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 All it took was seeing the two of you on the screen at the same time! Oh... and you're gorgeous too!

The House was great! Just saw it a second time recently and forgot how good it was. Jason Mantzoukas is hilarious, probably because I love him on Brooklyn 99 and his character reminded me of Pimento
The best gag in the film is when Michael Keaton says:
"I have to work two jobs. One here and the other at Bed Bath in Beyond. Im trying to put my kid into NYU so he can explore is bisexuality and become a DJ."

@@JohnSmith-wh2ob in the employee briefing at Bed Bath and Beyond. Who would've thought Michael Keaton could carry a comedy film with a stacked cast.
Arianna just rocking out and sloooowly realizing that there are, in fact, no bushes. lol
There wasn't even an awning.
She realized it a bit too late imo 😂 I remember freaking out as soon as they jumped 😂
5:40 for those wondering
"Just Aim for the Bushes" is still my favorite scene of all time in movie history
I was a little worried that she for one seemed to think that was going to work and that she didnt apparently find that funny lol.
Dude I died🤣🤣
Also, the fact that there are no bushes

I don't understand why this film is not on much more Best Comedy lists.
It's very rare for me to laugh throughout the entire length of a film but this one delivers on multiple levels and as an added plus it is a very well-made movie from a purely technical standpoint.
Already a cult classic imo. This is the best buddy cop parody ever made.
100% There was near constant laughs, with some jokes reoccurring throughout the movie. It was a brilliant comedy! It's my all time favorite comedy.

I wish wahlberg and ferrell did more comedy together. A better duo than kevin hart and the rock for sure.

Honestly I have 2 absolute favourite comedies, Tropic Thunder & The Other Guys. Your reactions have been such a delight and so much fun to watch 😂😂😂
for me, tropic thunder and spaceballs
What about blades of glory
Ricky Bobby? Step Brothers? Blazing Saddles? But honestly that’s an elite top two
Grandmas Boy is on my list too

Good to see whenever Keaton gets back to his comedic roots 🤣
