- An Introductory video showing how Luminosity selections are created in the channels panel inside Photoshop. These are called Masks all the time but they aren't really masks until they are used as a mask in the layers panel. Also, they can be used to "paint thru" selections that are active to constrain brush strokes only to those intended areas. Very powerful with limitless uses.

Daniel Johnson I am itching to make a video. Maybe later today. Thanks!! This just shows in a basic way how they can be made.
Actually they are now mostly made using the calculations command which gives a true 16 bit mask which has better gradients from black to white.
