    This video was spot on. The most invaluable tip for me was to use soap when running wire through grommet. That alone saved me tons of aggravation. Thanks again for this wonderful video. Keep up the good work.

    Damn that rubber grommet to HELL!!! I just took a break from finally pulling the cable through that thing. My hand is totally cramped up. The issue is the bottom part of the grommet, which has barely any give to let the RCA jack through. In hindsight, I should have just cut off the RCA jack and re-attached it after fishing the wire through.

    The video is good as far as showing the wires getting ran. But I need to know how the power wire is connected to the back of the radio.

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před 2 lety

      Power wire isn't connected behind the radio, it is connected to the power and ground of the reverse light. All that connects to the radio is the RCA video cable to the radio's video input, and the red wire lead for the trigger wire to the radio's reverse trigger wire.

    How much slack did you have left on that RCA extension that you used? I have an Envoy XL that is 16 inches longer so I'm wondering if I should get a longer extension.

    Unfortunately even though it lists my model year in the description my model year 2002 the reverse light is not in the tail light assembly so it is not so easy. I have watched a lot of these videos and all are the same, they pick a year that is easy to do and then leave out the details for the actual model you are looking for. I think 2004 and up the reverse light is in the tail light assembly, but in 2002 for sure the reverse light is separate and is in the bumper so you need to trace the wiring from the light and find where the heck it comes into the cab, if it ever does at the back in order to splice in. I have wasted upwards of 30 hrs trying to find this information online, where it would have taken me at most 3 hrs and a car hoist to find where it is on my 2002. frustrating to no end

      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před 2 lety +3

      We don't purposely choose the easiest of the model years, it's the luck of the draw what rolls up into the shop. I'm sorry you are having a hard time, we wish we could produce content for each and every year or every model as detailed as we can, but that's not how the cards are dealt. If this is more than you can handle, we suggest taking your vehicle to an audio shop for assistance.

      I have a 2003 and my wiring harness went bad for the abs. So I went to junk yard and got another wiring harness. It did fix the problem. When I changed the wiring harness the reverse lights split off from main wiring harness. Pretty sure it runs into abs/fuel pump wiring harness. Very hard to get to it. Lower spare tire.

      ??? That's weird, I have a 2002 TBLT and my reverse lights are in the rear light assembly in the same spot and connected the same as this vehicle.

    I tried this and ripped all my wires to hell trying to pull the wires through that tiny rubber boot. This is nowhere as easy as it seems on your video.

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před 2 lety +1

      We are sorry to hear about that, we suggest using something to fish the wires through, and to heavily coat it with soap and water to help slide it through the rubber boot. There is no easy way around it, and if it seems too much, we suggest visiting your local audio shop.

      You must not have taken your time. I have done longer boot assemblies with out soap and water. Just be gentle. The soap is a great idea though. About to do a 2005 envoy. Great video.
