As a Mormon LDS they are indoctrinated from birth to keep secrets (sacred), and never expose themselves to information that is negative about the Mormon Church. There was a talk called 'Doubt your doubts' in General Conference by a top leader. They are well trained in Mormonism to never expose themselves to anything that is negative about Daddy the prophet.

Had Lori given custody of JJ back to his grandparents and sent Tylee to live with her aunt while she galavanted off to Hawaii with Chad, they would’ve gotten away with the murder of Charles and Tammy.
