The Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 EXPLAINED

  • What's so special about the Mitsubishi Galant? Isn't it just a Magna? NO, it is NOT - let me explain why in this video.
    The 8th Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 has some serious pedigree to its name. It's one of the forgotten heroes of the JDM golden era. With a 2.5 Litre, Twin Turbo, V6 engine at its heart and an AWD drivetrain carrying its large frame, I reckon this stunning piece of Japanese muscle deserves more recognition within the car scene.
    This is another sit-down educational video so I thought I'd spice it up with a green screen.

    Sick vid man, absolutely love my facelift type S galant had it for ~4yrs now and only had to do minor work. They're pretty damn uncommon that's for sure. Power delivery is ridiculous smooth at speed but the auto trans can be pretty sluggish at slow speeds. Only other complaint is the fuel consumption lol!

    • @gutterrashautomotive3361
      @gutterrashautomotive3361  Před 3 lety +1

      Ah that makes me happy to hear - I'm worried about maintenance/repairs especially with such few detailed guides available in English. Yeah 6 cylinders and two small turbos make the power delivery so nice - that being said I do enjoy the violence of a single big turbo

    Hello there! I had Legnum with tiptronic and now have Galant with manual gerabox. Have to say that VR4 with manual is just different car (much more fun to drive and accelerate better). I took my VR4 (with basic mods) on a track day... and can keep up with Subaru STI and others 300BHP cars no problem...I agree underrated car, not many left in the world because of rust problems ;( .So look after them guys! and remove any sight of rust asap. After driving it home I fell in love.
    So underated and extremely manoeuvrable, more nimble than some other two door sports cars from the same time.

    Great video good information, I got one myself a black also just like yours, loving everyday with it, even if am not driving it, because it's not my daily, but just knowing it's there just watching it in the garage it's just bad ass 😂. Have to do some upgrades tho but, however I have a question what brembo breaks did you used? Because I have to get a pair because the stock breaks don't hold that car. Looking forward for your response

      @gutterrashautomotive3361  Před 3 lety

      I feel the EXACT same way haha, just seeing it in my garage makes me happy. I should drive it more but I haven't had much of a chance because it's not my daily either. It's got Evo 8 Brembos on it I believe, but not entirely sure because the previous owner did all the modifications. I still think even with the Brembos it doesn't brake too well - I guess the Evo's are over a 100kg lighter than our cars so that makes sense. Also my daily is a very light coupe and it brakes extremely well so I'm used to that too
