Your 2nd point is a good one.
If you take the steering wheel apart it has the mounting points for a stalk.
You can adapt the magna cruise control over.
Just need the stalk, module and throttle body and splice the wires in where they need to go.
Plus cut a tiny slit in the back side of the steering wheel for the cruise control stalk to poke through.
But yes super weird their top spec car didn't come with it....
Gearbox is the same box as the Evo.
    Imo good gear box.
Issue with Mitsubishi's is they use a cable linkage system for the gear shifter.
Where as Honda use physical linkages.
So the Mitsubishi shifters always feel a little disconnected and sloppy compared to a physical linkage system like Subaru or Honda.
You'll find most transverse cars use cable linkages, it's quite rare for them to have physical linkages due to packaging and cost.
The AC thing is just a service thing for you.
Mitsubishi makes dam good air cons 🤣
Check the forums as I do believe CE lancer ac compressor fit.
    And obviously check for leaks.
With information surrounding these, it's all there if you look.
It is spread across a couple forums and even Evo forums as these share a lot of characteristics.
You make a good point regarding the death of forums though.
But at least the community is always there to answer your questions.

MATE thank you for the incredibly thoughtful reply - you're a repository of VR-4 knowledge. Really appreciate the input. Awesome point about the gearbox linkage systems, had no idea about that!

The best upgrade for manual vr4s is to swap in the evo gearsets and a short shifter really brings this car to life and it makes it feel tight and more precise

Where can I get the short shifter from? Thanks

@@Endermanplays440 evo ones fit some times depending on which one you get they can sit a little bit to the left but you can either trim the base or leave it, regardless it doesn’t affect the shifting

Yeah your AC just sounds rooted lol mine's awesome still cold luckily! Steve / TME is almost worth a road trip up with a laundry list of things to get done, I put it off for a while but he visually identified things so fast and sorted out issues I'd been concerned about for ages. Also doing bolt-on high flow turbos now too... :P
EDIT: Oh! And number 6 dislike... the fuel consumption! 😂

You pay a big premium for Steve nowadays but he certainly knows his stuff.

I taught something was wrong with my clutch pedal lol, I do sit mighty far forward to step on the clutch, as for the trans, I think that 5th is in a strange place, makes me second guess if I'm in 5th or back in 2nd, partswise there is some more aftermarket support now, rods, pistons, coil on plug conversion etc, for the ac, I'm guessing your evaporator picked up a leak, it tends to be a weak point in the galants, good thing is very easy to change it yourself, I've changed mine about 1mth after getting my car but to be safe change the seals on the ac line while you're at it

Yeah the pedal spacing has me stumped haha
Good points! I'll look into the AC issue when it starts getting hotter here

I think its an option. Because my 2003 VR-4 got factory cruise control.

In Vic and get my 2001 VR4 serviced locally he really knows Galants and has saved me thousands with what he has done to keep it on the road.

I'm looking for good mechanic for VR4s in Victoria also.

Mitsfix or Techsport are about your only options.
Nick @ HCW had one and knows a bit too.
Average mechanic will charge you through the teeth and fuck it up - just learn it yourself. Parts are common, forum is a wealth of info - it's not hard.

So the thing with the cruise control is really annoying at first because all LHD galants actually have one, Luckily I don't have many things that bother you AC and so it runs perfectly what bothers me about my VR4 is only the paintwork I also have a black Vr4 but the paint is so faded and the original wind deflectors make a lot of noise over 100kmh

    • @gutterrashautomotive3361
      @gutterrashautomotive3361  Před rokem

Yeah those wind deflectors are gnarly - when i wanted windows down I started wearing my motorcycle earplugs 😂

My biggest pain is I've owned it for 15 months and it has run for less than a month and misfired the whole time, it's still off the road lmao
