Putting the phone down when children walk up... that is 100% SO IMPORTANT!!!! I'm blessed to have had my first kids before smart phones were really a thing. My sons are 20 and 15, and my daughter is 3. I raised kids without much technology and I really super grateful to have already had those habits established. I can't say how sad it makes me to be with my daughter somewhere and she and I are talking, learning letters and numbers from whatever sign happens to be around, and I see young parents everywhere just staring at their phone while their child stares off into space. It breaks my heart. I'm not saying I'm perfect. I do definitely have my moments of distraction, but getting the phone out of my face while my daughter is with me is one thing I consciously work very hard at. If I have to be looking at something for my business or whatever, I'll sit her on my lap and tell her what I'm doing and engage her as I'm doing it. Anyway, excellent video as always! I so appreciate all you do!

I’m so happy to hear you’re doing that with your children! I feel the same way. It takes for effort, but we cannot replace ourselves with computers. Children need intentional time with their parents. Personally, I don’t think toddlers should be exposed to any screens - television included - and our adult screen time should be when they’re sleeping or being looked after by someone else.

@@user-no2mz9hl4f I’ve a 2 year old and she’s never been on a phone or seen TV. I intentionally spend time with her and it’s such an amazing and rewarding feeling to see how different she is from other kids around us. In some ways she has been less influenced by other kids as we get to spend more time together. My background is technology and I’ve had to work initially and develop it as a habit where I’d just leave my phone outside at the entrance and be there with her when she was a baby. Now im so used to it that I look forward to getting away from my phone after work so I can 100% be with her and talk to her. Yes - that meant ignoring phone calls at times when family or friends are texting or calling and initially others used to comment or not like it until I make it gently very clear that my child is young and she’s a priority - from that point onwards most of my family and friends understand but it took others more time getting used to it. :)

One thing I find to be super helpful is to make the most of every moment. Commit to the task/activity at hand and be mindful. Do what you like to make it special. We’re much more effective when we focus on one thing at a time. Even something so simple as drinking a cup of tea can be elevated when you use the pretty cup, the good tea, take the effort to lay it out nicely, and drink it mindfully whilst listening to the birds outside your window (for instance).

You’ve gained a little weight on muscle mass and that’s great. My husband's name is also Andrew and we are changing our diet little by little and you are a great inspiration to us, and to me in business and parenting. (google translate for some parts 😊). Love this Ellen. You have consistently inspired me ever since I started watching your videos when Elvis was little. I'm in a much different position to you being a low income single mum to 2 kids who I homeschool and living in a less than ideal place for me. However I am done with letting that be an excuse! I am putting in place ways to take care of myself, I am manifesting abundance and the dream life for me and my kids. Thank you for making such beautiful videos, I am so happy for you that you are living this beautiful life 💓💓

I do appreciate this video and the timing of me watching it. My mornings have been so hectic. They used to be so relaxing and one of my most favorite parts of my day. Now 2/3 kids have different school times. The toddler wants to relax in the morning and not be pushed out the door. I am pregnant and I miss sitting with my kids intentionally in the morning not packing lunches and backpacks. I think of homeschooling so often. Of course education being #1 aspect, but I didn’t realize how much time I feel like I miss with my kids because of these rushed schedules and activities after school. I miss when I did “homeschool” in their toddler and preschool years. I also appreciate the say yes more. I need to really look into so much you suggested. I haven’t been able to watch you in quite a while and I missed your radiance. Thank you 💗

great tips! I think about kids and technology a lot...do you ever wonder how them simply growing up from birth being conscious that a camera is/will be filming them/viewed on a mass scale may impact their psyche? Even starting social media from high school has totally programmed my mind so that when I dress up, or see something beautiful, I instantly think about sharing it to an audience/ how it will be perceived by an audience. I think it's important to live individually and not always have such control over how ppl see us, simply because we can't help that these considerations will automatically become a part of our subconscious when we make them a custom in our life

  • @DeeTayloreverydaydeelights

Ellen, can you talk about different diets and some more info about why plant diets are so good. I was vegan for a year (in Canada) my poor rosacea skin got waaaaay worse eating vegan. I tried eating mainly whole plant based foods, but I really struggled. I have started eating more healthy fats and cutting carbs so I'm not getting sugar, I know there are so many opinions on why that is good and why that is bad, but I have noticed my skin improving. I think it has a lot to do with how much sunshine vitamin d we get here. I just don't know that my body converts the glucose found in fruits and carbs very well. Maybe because of lack of sunshine? I also have SIBO. I realize you are not here to give medical advice, but maybe you can share some resources?
I keep seeing myself in Hawaii living a similar lifestyle but man, I sure do struggle with what to do here. I follow a few other DRs who talk about eating hi fat, low carbs, others that say just eat whole foods, no processed and minimal meat protein and others that say stay away from any greens and fruits due to the high heavy metal toxicity absorbed from the soil and stored as energy in the plants. It all makes sense, everything I read. I wish I just knew what was right for me.
To confuse matters more I am reading plant paradox and learning about the anti nutrients of seeds. It's neverending. I find it all fascinating, but also overwhelming. How do you sift through it all?
