"So beautiful." I hate all these comments like that. This guy lives in a terrifying world. Imagine coming down off hard drugs and not having a bed to sleep in. Of course he can talk a good game, he's living in a fantasy, but when you're walking home from the cocktail bar tonight and there's a chilly wind blowing down the street imagine what it's like for these people fighting over a store doorway.
Freezing cold days and nights here in Canada my mind is ALWAYS fixed on these people and what they go threw homeless with no roof over their heads! God Bless them all!🙌🙏❤🇨🇦
What’s beautiful about it u left wing weirdo😊
Good god, drink another one. So tired of seeing this weirdo shit
Most of the viewers seem to be delusional virtue signalers.

Molestation and abuse on children will affect a person for life…I am speaking from experience therefore, these pedos or abusers of children need harsher punishment!!…wishing Edwina the best and pls stay safe out there 🙏🏻
Doing those things to a child takes their life away and alters it permanently. Anybody who does that should have their life taken as soon as they're caught, in my opinion. It's only fair.
@@arafluko3487 couldn’t agree more 🙏🏻
I’m convinced the ones that say they have a good childhood has nothing to compare it to and doesn’t realize that their childhood is actually not good.
So many of them say they had a good childhood and then proceed to tell the most horrible abuse stories. Denial must be a necessity in order to survive. It must be so incredibly difficult to live on the streets.
Mark, thank you for your kindness to people that most people just pass by even though I could not understand everything I had to really try and listen it’s very sad. He’s only 57. I don’t know what happened in his life that broke them off from reality but I pray for God to intervene and to give him peace and rest. Thank you for all you do.
Ed did state that he has a tendency to speak too fast. I listened with a headset and could understand much more. I am with you Katie…Mark has so much patience for these people who have been forgotten by society. ~Sandy~
@@EnvironmentalCoffeehouse Eh, I usually watch these at 2x speed, but this guy has little articulation.
Try with close caption, it is easier to read it. I experienced the same problem understanding him.
Yeah only 57. He's almost a senior citizen. Sad that he thinks he got it under control. Drugs will tell you everything is okay when they are fucked up. I've been there
If you pray to 'God' you will be left wanting. Real change comes from activism/change in our physical realm.
Crystal meth is not like drinking a bunch of Starbucks 😂
Poor guy. He's playing roles in his mind and utterly disconnected from reality. 💖😢
He’s mentally ill
As are so many people in all walks of life.
Just like the rest of us
You mean disconnected from reality.
My daughter was abducted and sexually assaulted at age 14, and she went completely insane afterwards, yet in comparison she’s actually quite normal. Her attacker got 6 years. That’s what our kids are worth in America
My heart aches for you Edwina. Thank you Mark for always treating these folks with kindness and respect. Praying he gets help soon. 💔
Sick to death of hearing same old crap about back ground. Boring 🙄
I didn't even mention the word "background." But, I have one word for you, Compassion. It's a good thing. 👍
@@taniapetrie1309 you’re on the wrong page then
Mark, "Do you think you have your drug situation under control?"
Edwina, "Absolutely! Yes!"
If sleeping outside Mark's studio and stopping and starting drugs 10 times is under control, I'd hate to see what out of control is.
Form follows function, comes to mind.
Walking around with a rat's nest on your head I'd an indicator too
It was a bit loaded.
Bad form will actually result in bad function? ...or sleeping on the sidewalk will fuck up his lumbar posture?
The good news is Mark gave him money for more crack.
Dude's a mess... I feel sorry for him and his family. I wish him well.
You're not wrong; Edwina is coming from everywhere as this image that he perceives through his trauma. But at the same time, through the video, you can recognize a more genuine person compared to many people today.
Hit the closed caption button before you watch. super helpful.
His divorce broke him. So sad. I wonder if she has watched this. He's struggling deeply. I hope he finds his health and his heart.
“Lack of intamacy kills a marriage….” He knows of what he speaks❤️
That's common sense

If....... one's sexually charged to begin with. Some are not.
Wouldn’t u say that common sense???
If it was such common sense then people would t hold out so much on their partners sexually
I had a guy that walked around my town like this when I was growing up they called him screwy Louey I was scared of him for the longest time Until it was explained to me he worked a normal job he was a war veteran this was the 80s and I guess when his wife passed away he couldn't take it and started to wear her church clothes around town on Sunday God love him he's long passed now but this reminds me of him although Louey was a little better done up... I had seen him many times in his work clothes I just never knew it was the same person Until my dad's pointed it out and told me the story
Love this. Thank you Leigh.

When you said that, the pieces all fell in place.
I hope you find the love for yourself and the strength to get off the streets. Hopefully you can reduce the drugs also.
You deserve so much more than this, Edwina!
If you loved yourself as much as you love your parents, you would get yourself off the streets today.
It's weird, isn't it, self love.
Especially the lack of it and where it leads us. It's very, very sad that we don't love ourselves and treat ourselves better.
Who's this?
I’ve never heard anyone speak of being homeless on crystal meth and a trash picker so eloquently

Are you really sorry? Is he strong and stunning and brave? So do you think society has come so far in 30 years set in the decent past he would have had a bed forever as a ward of the state in the mental asylum

Don't mean to be rude or anything but can't understand what he is saying
Truth!
I could tell almost immediately by the way he carries himself; despite his appearance, that he was from an older wealthy family.... no doubt the drugs have taken its toll on him... and his life experiences.... in the end... he seems to own his true authentic self.... and I applaud him for that.
Totally agree. He has a very regal look.

I’ve been watching since Portrait 5. All these years - the souls you come across always teach me something. In every single interview.Finding the reasons why I started to struggle greatly in my early adulthood took me back to my early childhood trauma - I resonate deeply with many of these humans. I am so moved that there is a space for them to self express, because most of them never get more than a glance of judgment. Mental health and homelessness, there are obvious direct correlations.
I’m so thrilled to see how eye opening this channel has become.
Yes it really puts things in perspective, all these stories make me want to work for myself to make sure I can share my story one day not in such a sad manner.
Sounds like stability has always been a challenge. Glad that edwina still has the support and love of his parents. The pressured speech is quite telling. Hoping Edwina stays safe.
It's very difficult trying to listen to him struggling to speak..
Done meth, done caffeine. He’s sure minimizing his DOC. The first time I did meth I stayed up for 48 hours and brainstormed ways to get more for hours. I was walking on cloud 9. Very different than caffeine.

Please don't say 57 is elderly!!! I just turned 57 and I am not ready to wear that label LOL!

@@tomdonahue4224 65 is elderly😊. 60 in other parts of the world. Nowadays, 57 is middle-aged.
This man does not have dementia but suffers from an unspecified mental disorder, the use of harmful street drugs and trauma from his childhood.
"Elderly" is subjective in my opinion. I know a woman who is 84 and used to be a trapeze artist in USSR and she dresses so impeccable and has more energy on a daily basis than I do. She is truly youthful in every aspect of the word. She dates younger younger gentlemen (65+-)and has the loveliest voice and laugh of a teenage girl.
I find this man fascinating, I think you only touch the tip of his life journey. I pray he gets off the junk and straightens himself out. God blass you Ed.

I had them on and they didn't make sense.
He took a face from the ancient gallery, and he walked on down the hall..The West is the best.
I think there’s some denial here about how bad their life is…
Actually even though he was kind of hard to understand, I found him most interesting of Mark’s guests lately. He knows what he’s talking about too! 😀

Call me a skeptic but I don't believe this guy's passing up an entire floor in a mansion "with a balcony" to live on skid row.
This might be the power of drug addiction that we don't understand.
You might surprised when they've been ravaged a lot, deeply hate themselves and they end up feeling VERY uncomfortable in better conditions. It's a wild side effect of what addiction and poverty does to human kind..

I think it’s amazing and inspiring how these people can be comfortable and sometimes even confident in their bizarre appearances or less than savory lifestyle no matter the perception of others or consequences. I’m very beautiful but I have a fupa from child bearing and It bothers me and I go through great lengths to conceal it. Wish I didn’t care as much. Edwina, I truly hope things turn around for you and you get the things you need in life, friend. Much love to you 💜
I have known a couple older men just a year and a tragedy away from this- business associates or acquaintance of my parents. People are closer to catastrophe than some think. My dad would often fall into the thrall of friends with fervor, eloquence and a touch of delusion. When I was younger, I thought it was because he was gullible and desperate to believe, (maybe the big business idea they had, could help him be successful too) Now, I think it was more about his limitless compassion and generosity. That is one of the biggest gifts took from my dad.
Absolutely! Compassion, patience, empathy.
This reminds me of a super weird outsider musician named Tonetta. He's so similar to this guy and he also became a crossdresser after a rough divorce. I know correlation doesn't equal causation but I'm thinking there's a connection.
Dude, You’re spot on. Tonetta has some bizarre habits, but he’s a talented guy.
How sad 😭😭 i feel sorry for his children he's still their father !
I feel sorry for his parents.
So many mean coments on this one, its so sad😟
For real.
Yeah, I'm trying very hard not to say anything because ya know it does no good. They gotta help themselves.
As a person ages dealing w. Hair Do's becomes difficult especially long hair. I know this first hand. We simply do "good enough" and go with it.....life's short.....
Glad I found your comment. I watch every morning, and I think it's so ridiculous how the comments can vary depending on what someone looks like.
If any of these people who spout hateful words could understand even a small percentage of the bigger message these videos hold, we would be far better off as a society.

@@fu9793 super intelligent addition to the conversation. Thanks!
Please bring more interviews of Edward/Edwina. I have to say He/She is at the level and depth of Rebecca. Very smart and articulate. Perhaps too aware and sensitive for what our society deems as acceptable and normal. This was a very deep and insightful interview. I hope to see more interviews with this bright, beautiful, and tender soul. Thanks for your work in bringing these interviews to the world.
Articulate??? Are you having a laugh 😃 Can't understand a single sentence and neither can you
I agree, he’s talking quite fast (he’s obviously high) but the context of his conversation is definitely worthy of a second interview. I’ll bet if he was not as high he’d maybe slow down with his speech and his views and insight might come across to a wider audience. I did struggle to listen I had to watch his mouth and really pay attention.
This person left me so confused. All I can think of is he needs shoes! Thank you Mark, for your kindness to all.
He needs more than shoes. He needs a mental health hospital!!
Very difficult to discern much of what was said here.
Captions on every video.
Mark, I find it so fascinating how you have the perfect eye for seeking out these lovely gems-of-a-people. I find Edwina so lovely and well-spoken. So intelligent and aware of what the world really is. It is humbling to me to see individuals like this with so little but be so self-sufficient and comfortable in their own skin.
I feel so very lucky to be able to vicariously live through the lens of your camera and take part in learning more about humanity. I absolutely adore your way of respecting each individual as a whole person, regardless of their situation, actions or circumstances. You are one of a kind.
I send my best to Edwina.
If that cat is "aware of what the world is" I need to be locked in the nut house. Look, I am all for respecting people because they are human. Sounds like this guy has some deep emotional and mental issues. However, it it not cruel or disrespectful nor is there anything wrong with admitting that he is not at all dealing with reality and needs to be hospitalized. Of course he is "comfortable in his own skin." He is as crazy as a bedbug.
You gotta be trolling with "well spoken"...

Slow playback to .75 as Another commenter recommends- it helps a lot to hear Edwina's story ❤️
Wow Edwina evoked some polarizing comments here. I was surprised at how much of his speech I was able to understand, despite the speed and mumbling in between. I was even more surprised at how cogent he is.
Skipping this one, see you tomorrow Mark 👋
So many rude comments you should try to walk a mile in his shoes before throwing judgement on him. In 2000 years we still haven't learned " He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone ".
I don't think ppl are judging they are just being objectively honest....then you have the other commenter saying "what a stunning gorgeous articulate genius she is!!" Denying reality doesn't really help anyone.
I thought this interview was honest, insightful, sometimes profound, and eloquent 🌟 I admire Your interviewing style so much Mark 🤩 You really seem to " read" Your guests and know when to direct the conversation or to allow it to flow unaided and that is a rare gift 🙏💝 I learn so much about people from Your videos and I am very grateful for Your help with my compassion practice 🙏💞☯️♾️

Even closed captioning couldn't make him out.
I can't believe this guy is only two years older than me. He looks like he's lived five lifetimes.
Edit: don't do meth folks!
Yes I second this sentiment adamantly
He/she stated that he's "had a lot of tragedy in his/her life," yet he/she had a great childhood, two parents that are still alive and together, yet the only "tragedy" noted was his "wife of 22 years split." I think we all have "let downs," but don't end up on skid row? Guess he didn't have regular coping skills?
I'm English, but sadly can't understand a word 😔 will switch on cc.... seems a troubled soul 😥
I see a man who is more free and intelligent than most.
So he's intelligent because he's a drug addict who's wasted his life on hedonism and self-obsession?

My heart breaks for Edwina. His life is not an easy one. I'm exhausted just trying to understand what he's saying but I kept trying. Edwina has much to say and I thank you for having the patience to complete the interview. If I was Elon Musk I would be able to provide him a home and a shower and a good medical checkup if he wanted. His hands appear swollen and puggy and his feet needs attention. I wish he understood there is a whole world of grey between the black and white of rich and destitute. I believe with a support system he could get clean and start another more secure chapter in life.
Something traumatic happened in Edwina's life, imo. I can tell at one time he was a distinguished person
Babe did you listen well? He was molested.
If you slow the playback speed to .75 it's easier to understand him. Definitely a lot of trauma.
You know you cannot change a person they have to want to change and this man it seems so sad to us that he wants to be like this on the street but he seems like he's not going to go any other way at this point it would be hard to have a parent this way but he seems like a gentle person
Dude is down BAD!... he is so deluded and out of his mind that he said this is an "up point in his life"......
Meth…such a horrible addiction. Really changes the brain. He is what an old “tweaker” looks, talks, lives like.
Funny how people think they know someone based off a CZcams interview. Seems as tho it doesn’t take much for folks to decide who people really are inside based on some basic questions. John gacey was a respected member of society and church.
