Super Sculpey 3-headed dragon, final reveal.

  • This is a final reveal of my creation, a 3 headed dragon! Hand made using polymer clay, galvanized, foil, tape, and acrylic paints. The 2 main colors are Metallic Blue Pearl and Metallic Amethyst which only increase the fantasy look I think.. This was a long journey, but a fun one! I learned a lot from all this too. this was a awesome build, my greatest yet!!! Looking forward to all your comments as usual, thank you so much for watching and being patient!
I started this out by shaping the wire to form a animal's skeleton. Then I add aluminium foil to bulk out the areas that are considered "dead space" This saves in material (no need to waste clay) and it also cuts down on the sculptures weight! Once I got the foil like I want it I cover alllll the foil with masking tape [masking tape helps keep the foil in place, adds a small (I repeat, small) amount of structural integrity, and keeps the clay lean in case you ever have to take the project apart you won't have pieces of foil in the clay!] Then I add a layer of sculpey original clay because its cheaper in cost and makes a great base coat! (I no longer sculpt using sculpey original, I use a mixture of clay that is going amazing for me right now! Super sculpey and Firm, a 50/50 mixture)
Part 1: Armature wire_______ • Full Dragon Sculpture,...
Part 2: Wings, foil, tape!_____ • Full Dragon Sculpture,...
Part 3: first layer of clay______ • Full Dragon Sculpture,...
Part 4.Got muscles??_______ • Full Dragon Sculpture,...
Part 5: Added 2 heads!!!!____ • Full Dragon Sculpture ...
Part 6: Scales, lot of them!___ • Full Dragon Sculpture ...
Part 7: Doing the wings!_____ • Full Dragon Sculpture ...
Part 8: finished the heads.___ • Full Dragon Sculpture ...

Many reasons why I thought this was a great tutorial. First off, you used many materials from your home & cost effective stores!! Loved the fact you used a pasta sheeter!! You were not afraid to share your mistakes so the viewer could avoid them. You were not afraid to try suggestions from the viewer. Also, you shared your intimidation's, your weaknesses & your strengths. BRAVO....a job well done!!

I just finished the entire dragon sculpture demonstration, and I am extremely grateful to you! I come to CZcams often to find new tutorials in polymer clay, and today I had chosen to learn dragons. Mine will be smaller, but I wanted to see a large one, first, so I can really get the detail. You did an amazing job! The video itself is awesome and very well put together, and I learned so much more than I could have hoped for. Thank you so much!

The thing I really admire about this is that out of all things, you chose a dragon. They're super complicated, but beautiful subjects, and it really paid off. I also enjoyed listening to you fangirl about it throughout the whole series; I know if I'd done something this cool, I would've been the same way.

I first started sculpting about a year ago, and this series of dragon videos was the first thing I watched to try to learn more about how to go about sculpting, and helped me make my first sculpture (Falkor the luckdragon from Neverending story). Now a year later I've sold some sculptures locally and am getting ready to open an Etsy shop! So I wanted to come back and thank you for helping me get started. ^_^
