This just unlocked so much nostalgia for me. I completely forgot this game. I was so young when i played it and i was so terrible at it. But i remember loving the menu music, i remember the noises of moving the menu cursor and it really triggered nostalgia when you hear the garage sounds. Wow man. Cant belive i stumbled upon this
Murray Walker never mentioned Tarso Marques in F1 2001 PS2 yet, on F1 Challenge 99-02, player's pit crew always mentioned him.

Playing with physics in this games was crazy fun
Unlike F1 22 to 24 that have broken car physics despite handling is way improved on F1 23.

I don't exactly know what happened, but the most likely reason was that Minardi didn't release their information about their driver registration in time, because Marques was on the brink of being sacked midway through the season (He lasted until the Belgian Grand Prix), so the developers could only make audio clips for Alonso.

I’ve never played this game, since I was born in this year 😂 but I’ve gotta say this actually looks very decent for it’s time
I remember getting this brand new when I was 6 and watching my dad play it. Good times.
This ISO has been modded; in Formula One 2001 Alesi drives for Prost and Frentzen drives for Jordan and there is no horrible low-res image of the car on the driver select screen either. The HUD for the speedometer is also different. Maybe there is an PAL/NTSC difference?
Still a great game though. I had so much fun with this one back in the day.

It isn't a mod. The diference between american and european versions is because when PAL versions was released it was the begining of the season. NTSC version came in September (if i'm not wrong) when some drivers had changed places already: Frentzen, Burti, Alesi, Mazzacane and Zonta.
So the American version had the updated driver lineup from the start? I wondered why there was no de la Rosa, Frentzen was still at Jordan, and Burti was still at Jaguar on my EU copy.
Mark Isaki late reply but I believe the US version was released later in the year and thus they could change them, other differences I noticed are the showing of the cars when picking a driver and the rev counter is different in the US version

This game is really underrated, it looks like one of the best F1 games ever made. The driving looks smooth and fluid (not super sensitive steering like most other PS2 F1 games), the graphics are clear, the sounds are amazing. The quality of the sounds are better than Codemasters games.
I swear early PS2 games look so much better than the later ones.
...maybe because the graphics are enhanced by the emulator...perhaps ...PCSX2 ..HD...?
@@dAda313 only the resolution, textures*, shadows, reflections and models can't be enhanced by an emulator.
*Textures can be upscaled using interpolation algorithms, but this makes them lose their nostalgic touch

What's with all of the glitching textures in the third person and replay cameras? Is this game not fully compatible with PCSX2, or was this a 1 time issue?
Got this to work 99% fine with my emulator and without the glitching, so it must be a recent fix that's happened after this video

I got the game too, but it doesn't have the same HUD, Frentzen is still in Jordan as he was in the beginning of the season and Alesi is in Prost, and the car/driver selection screen didnt show the car

No, it was Studio Liverpool's F1 2001. Graphics are the same, as is gameplay, Murray's voice, and everything. But having read on the other comments, it seems that the NTSC version of the game got the updated roster from near the end of the season, whereas PAL regions got the early season roster

i think it may have to do with the verification process? and it's not unheard of for different versions to have had altered content, but this still is pretty weird ngl
@@revenger210 it's the difference between US and PAL versions of the game - the US version was released later in the season (I think), so it had some changes to it :)

I have tried both PAL and NTSC versions of the game from two downloadable sources and when trying to start a race after selecting car and track, it goes to a black screen without crashing the emulator. What do I do?
Download the latest PCSX2 v1.5.0 it should be fine mate, or u can try enable the 'Skip MPEG Hack'.

i was was excited to play it today it came in the mail put in the ps3 fat with ps2 backward compatibility and found out it's not working in the ps3 just ps2 :( and it's not working with the emulator either :(
