PS2 has one of the best libraries of any console.
In my opinion nothing comes close to the PS2. It's library was unfathomably diverse. My favourite games released one PS1 however.
@@upon-fe2720 PS1 had some library also and had the beginning of many great game series.
Easily the best
it IS the best library of any console.
Some of the best games of all time for sure. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Zone of The Enders, Zone of The Enders 2: The 2nd Runner, Tekken 4, Hitman 2, Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven, Shinobi, and so on, and so on… Too many to list. Truly a great era.
Same here my friend… I’ve been rocking the PS1, PS2 & PS3 a lot lately in 2024. And simply having a great time. Happy Gaming Everyone 😎.
PS1 and PS2 Classics every year! Cant wait for Smartphones to be able to run PS3 as well.
happy gaming my niqqa

yo, i got PS1, PS2, PS3, XBOX, 360, WII, WII U NES MINI and SNES MINI all hooked up to my tv with an O.S.S.C. so i get all that in HD. og XBOX modded to house the entire north american library. and plans to mod my WII this year with similar intent. 4k oled t.v. and video game character action figures, still in box, hanging all over my walls. gaming peaked at PS2 and the surrounding gens.
You own those games
You can take your ps2 and your games on a house boat in the middle of the ocean and you can play them

I still play my PS2 also, I've never stopped and it's never been unplugged. There was so much variety and content within games which we just don't get anymore. These days 90% of games feel copy pasted and stale, like I've already played the game 10 times. On the PS2 everything is different, developers weren't afraid to try new things or be a little different, that's one of the things that makes the PS2 era so great. It just never gets old.
Ps2 was freaking awesome
Same I'm still playing my ps2 the wrestling games, RPGs and racing games were incredible
Game devs take so much features out of games. From older titles it’s ridiculous. I had a Xbox and ps2
The games today are just as good.
I feel the same way about all consoles from that era (Nintendo and Microsoft included). Way more variety.
PS2 Is a timeless masterpiece of a console and even i am about to buy one again after more than 10 years when i last had a PS2 slim
I got like x12 ps2s last month and x1 brand new off ebay changed old pads and cleaned all of them
@@obidahasdia4095Nice. I did same thing with PS1 a little while back, and grabbed bunch of classics I loved back then.. Moving on to PS2 now. I have console, but it's little beat up, still plays though.. Just need PS3 and I'll have all consoles lol.. You gotta love it

The PlayStation 2 is the one system I never stopped playing. The damn thing pretty much saved my life as a kid. I'm still playing new games on it. Playing through Red Faction at the moment. It's pretty fun. If you happen to have an older CRT with component inputs, HDRetrovision makes an amazing set of cables. I highly recommend them. Glad to see I'm not the only one playing older Sony consoles in 2024.
I’m using the LevelHike HDMI adapter upscaling to 720p. Then into the Mclassic adapter, doing a nice antialiasing and then upscaling it all the way up to 1440P on a AOC 32” curve monitor… Looks great 😎.
@@ICZERZERO3000 At that point may as well use PCSX2 aye?
Red faction was my very first game I had on ps2 and was an awesome introduction to that console , didn't care much for the sequels though
@@ghost_tom_joad8530 Yeah I hear you 👍
Jerking off his crt and added cable talk on top of it, so many of these people lol. If you have the console, a game and a way to view it, that's enough.
Its very satisfying to see your physical collection of games in immaculate glossy condition.
I just bought the PS2 a few days ago. And I am playing it a lot lately. I used to have one as a kid. Now I can enjoy playing it again. The PS2 is that one console that will never die. So glad a lot of people are still playing it in 2024.
I did this a few years ago...left social media and such...was living back (to a degree) like the early 2000s
@@HDbaconlove that. I kinda do the same. Havent had online subscription to ps plus etc for about 3 years plus now. All my friends are online gaming and have ps5s and im sat alone playing ps1-ps4. And happy with it
Salute bro I’m right there with ya, playing Tenkaichi 2 as we speak 💯🙏🏽
I also have been playing PS2. Mercenaries, Bully, and Smackdown VS Raw 2007 have been loads of fun.
I also restarted World at War PS3 because of your video a couple weeks ago. Awesome campaign and finding multiplayer lobbies even in weekday mornings.
Mercenaries was great. Sucks the IP is in copyright limbo or else we'd have a remake. That last mission was brutal.
PS2 is the last gen of gaming i was into before i kind of left the scene behind. But since getting back into retro gaming i find myself playing a lot of PS2 and I've been finding gem after gem for this system. Games i had forgotten about and now I'm playing them everyday. My PS2 collection has tripled in the past 2 months
Me and my brother used to play on ps2 a lot. And I feel like no matter what and how great looking new game is released. It feels different now. As adult I can't enjoy games I used to do when I was in middle school. Don¨t get me wrong. I still love many games that were released recently. But not that much fun just because I have other tthings on my mind and it's hard to just switch off from the reality.
Those times when we used to start a game every single day from the beginning becasue we had no memeory card for some time were awesome and we just did not mind. Tekken 5, NHL 18, The Matrix: Path of Neo, Pirates of Caribbean Legend of Jack Sparrow in coop...
But also some of my favourites gems I had to replay recently like Dark Cloud and Dark Chronicles. Those games are gems! And it's hard to believe those games were released in 2000 in Japan and 2001 in the Europ. I know it took a lot from Zelda. But damn... music in this game hits different. Gameplay, crafting, everything is so god damn perfect. And I know there is way more games on ps2 like these. But I would choose Dark Cloud over anything. Even after years I loved every second of it.
Don't forget some gems like God of War too. Yeah... old good times! I also would recomend a game called Trapt. Not many people knows about this game. But it's unique. And the story telling is good.
Get a Quest 3. It is truely an upgrade from limited flatscreen. Early playstation 1/2 is great but lack modern tech of today
I am a fossil of 44 years and have been gaming since 1985 when I was 5, and I have to say without a shadow of a doubt that the PS2 is my favorite console of all time. I still to this day play PS2 games with an emulator on my PC as to preserve my console. Many great memories I have had gaming on it. Also the fact that it was backwards compatible with the PS1 meant I could still play my two favorite games of that era. Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain and Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. Anyway great video.
If you ever want the real thing again (or need to) highly recommend softmodding PS2, will keep your drive alive + load quicker.
@@HDbacon Thanks for letting me know. I'll do some research.
@Nolimit_Lou look up mrmario2011. I've followed a few if his tutorials, worked everytime and he takes it at a good pace.
Cheers bro, 1981 says hi. Similar story.
personally, big pros of emulator is save/load states. I don't want to use cheat but i don't want to replay all parts of long mission. I just want to replay from part 2 or part 3 of that long mission.
PS2 and Dreamcast are superb consoles with amazing games that I still play.
Not Dreamcast
@@selfishstockton6123its an amazing console. Just a poor library overall as only has about 20 or less quality titles.

The PS2 Emulator on the PC is a godsend, get to upscale the resolution up to 8k res removing the pixilation completely, 60 fps patches, and HD texture replacements the community has made, almost like small remasters that you can do, extreme nostalgia in HD haha.
I am both jealous and envious of you. Could never figure out any emulators for consoles that required CD-Rom.
There's plenty of youtube tutorials you can watch and some provide links in the description of what you need to get it set up, most emulators are pretty dependent on your PC's hardware I don't think the PS2 one has very high requirements, and not all of the games work flawlessly, but I'd def give it a few more tries, you can actually download the entire library of PS2 Games online(google ps2 iso) without needing a CD player but you can also just pop in your PS2 disc and the emulator will pick it up, all the emulator needs is a BIOS and you can get one online for e.g, the one I use is PCSX2, if you follow a tutorial to get PCSX2 to the tee you should be good to go in no time, goodluck! @@_Prebound

Clicked on your video about your 'why' reason. Funny that you mention about how good the soundtracks were, because I also had the feeling that a lot of PS3 (Black Ops 2 Zombies From Buried, Mob of The Dead & Origins) and the Pac-Man World 2 & Need For Speed Most Wanted from PS2 had insanely good music (from the games that I had). It made the gameplay more epic and immersive.

Edit: instant sub and like! I like your style man, real fresh (bonus points for anyone that knows which PS2 game that comes from)
great stuff mane keep it up
firtly .congrats to your channel ..secondy ive already finished alot of game in the past..
Great point about soundtracks! Somehow the early era of games using license music nailed it! Tony Hawk, GTA, and all the racing games were filled with bangers. I can't recall a recent game with good licensed music. Ironically, i think original game music has gotten really good
Shenmue, GTA Vice City, and Splinter Cell are still my jam. Recently I've been revisiting that generation for the RPGs I missed out on.
Dude i had watched your previous video about ps5 and you had said you like the ps5 and i was surprised (console almost coming the edge of its lifecycle really doesnt have a new exclusive game, if you dont have a exclusive whats the point ?) So I expect you to say what you said today. Now İ subscribed you are a sincere man, i will watch what you throw at youtube keep up good videos
I still remember for Christmas unwrapping to see that solid blue box it was amazing
What kind of hdmi converter are you using on your monitor? The games look so good on your screen compared to mine
Great video man
I have been playing a ton of my old favorites on my Steam Deck through Emulation.
amazing game selection!!
Man! I wish I didn't throw out my PS2, but still have PS2 games. I am going to save up money up for PS2.
Singstar was very popular on ps2 here in Australia, at parties people would get together and sing with the microphone and have a blast
Love it bro old school is the way!
I love your depressed matter of fact dry humour you have earned another subscriber!
Me too! I've recently played through Fatal Frame 1 to 3 and all of the dotHacks.
Still have mine with about 60-ish games, its the OG fat model and it still works great!
you’re not alone bro in fact im also still playing 360 currently suspended on psn anyway gotta sort that out lol
I was a teen when the ps2/xbox generation was popular, I went GameCube then to Xbox and didn’t get a ps2 until 2006 and really didn’t play much but over the years really wanted to but prices are outrageous for retro gaming. I didn’t realize the PC I built last year was powerful enough to emulate ps2 games and got it working last week
This was a civilized era it felt...PS2, XBOX, GameCube, even DreamCast...they all existed together and we loved it. The internet hadn't really blown up yet and you still had cheat codes you had to get from a magazine or had to unlock something through hard work...
Aye bro.....thank you
Many of us are still playing classic titles with emulation on steam deck. Great stuff!
I just downloaded PCSX2 so I could play DBZ BT2.
I also am about to go on a download spree and get the first 3 Harry Potter games, Fullmetal alchemist games 1 and 2, and the 3 last Airbender games all for ps2.
Let’s go baby!!!
make sure you download the HD textures and 60fps codes
Where did you download the emulator?
@@DeanSmith84 - Will do! Thanks.
@@nox9465 - Just type: download PCSX2 and it should be the first result.
Be sure to find a bios to run it.
@@nox9465 - They have an official site.
Man, I miss the PS2 days. The PS2's library is packed with great titles, many of which have gone on to spawn successful franchises, and most of those are still around today. I haven't played PS2 since my unit died in late 2007. A few years later I sold some games and my entire collection of demo discs but I kept a handful of games in case one day I get another PS2. I just can't let go of MGS2, MGS3: Subsistence, Tekken Tag Tournament, ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. Great games, all of them.
How are all your covers black? I must agree with you, it is impressive how the PS2 basically used the DVD games as a Hard Drive Disc to load from in real-time. The system only has like 32MB of RAM and you can play Open World games like Test Drive Unlimited on it without a stutter for loading new areas.
