    We mostly eat beef, eggs, butter, salmon, mackerel, kippers, lamb, beef liver, cow feet, roe, and raw kraut. These make up 95% of our diet. Every now and then we will have some avocado or pickles, chicken wings, yogurt, strawberries (in summer), or raw cheese. We have 5 children and our families scold us for not giving them typical foods, but they have been eating like this since infancy. They like such basic and nutritious foods, have hearty appetites, and they are in excellent health and quite lean and strong compared to their classmates.

    I have LONG told folks that calories have VERY LITTLE to do with weight gain or loss... I've had friends close to me that make their lives (and those close to them like ME) MISERABLE for counting calories and STILL eating a lot of HIGH carb CRAP... and they wouldn't listen- some still won't.. so i gave up trying. Thanks for this video, Kait. I was always wondering why I couldn't stop snacking even though I'm doing keto. So the bro science was true all along. You really do need to focus more on the protein. Good to know. I'll try to get more in at my first meal of the day and see how the snacking goes. No wonder I'm always reaching for cheese and meat snacks soon after breakfast even though my breakfast is pretty calorically dense

    Hi again Kait,
    I have Type 2 Diabetes and off course Insulin Resistance, and at present, I am on a Low Carb Diet, - have been for about 4 weeks, but have stopped losing weight.
    I started at 94.4kg, and my weight steadily started going down, but for the last couple of weeks, my weight just keeps going up and down between 92kg and 91kg, and won't go down any further.
    I am trying Intermittent Fasting as well.
    I allow myself to eat between 6pm and about 12am to 2am, (I am a bit of a Night Owl and I find sleeping during the day, better than sleeping at night) and then I don't eat anything after that, until 6pm the next evening. Usually though, I don't actually eat anything until about 7.30pm - 8.30pm when I have the dinner meal ready.
    My husband and I are in our early 70s so there are no children to feed early, so our dinner meal is not as early as it used to be.
    Since our retirement, my sleep pattern has become a bit weird, because I stay up late, by myself, and watch TV or movies on Netflix, and then sleep on and off, the next day.
    I think it is boredom and loneliness, and now I am in a rut!

    Very helpful, and informative video! Eating a Keto/Carnivore/Carneto diet the past 2.5 years along with Intermittent Fasting (18/6 - 23/1) has significantly helped improve my insulin resistance, a1c level (from 18-22 to 4.8-5.4), and go from 368 lbs to 233 lbs.
    I actually don't consider 16/8 to be fasting as IMHO it provides too big of an eating window.

    I always fast from morning to morning or noonish to morning as I find it makes fasting for longer periods (18 - 23 hrs) much easier since it's easy to keep busy during the first 10 - 12+ hours of the fast (work, daily activities, exercise, binge watch movies, or a TV series, etc), then you sleep the latter portion of the fast when a person would tend to become hungriest. I could never understand what was the big deal about "HAVING" to eat dinner, fasting for a few hours, sleeping, then still needing to fast for several hours after waking up. To me that would be much more stressful, complicated, and frustrating.

I did a diet with interminent fasting starting with an omelette at 1pm composed of one egg+1/3 cup to 2/3 cup of egg whites +150 g brocoli + 50 g of beef salami and i felt so full for the whole day and lost weight , and when i swipped to sandwiches with high protein in it , lets say the macro was the same as the omelette and still high in proteins and the bread was whole grain , i didnt lose weight ? I think the higher carb intake was unknow to my body so it just went slower ? I dont know im not a professional but thats what i experienced 😁

    Hi Kait,
    You said bread was bad for the human body, - does that include Low Carb or Keto Breads as well?
    Heaps of people have been madly searching and experimenting, looking for a really good Low Carb bread recipe, and I have recently found a recipe that everybody is commenting is fantastic.
    It is very difficult to get some of the ingredients that are part of the Keto or Low Carb recipes online, because they are mostly from America, but I have just recently found some of the ingredients in America, that I couldn't find in Australia, and the company offered Free Shipping if the customer spent over a certain amount of money, which wasn't high, so I am really happy about that, so I hope Low Carb breads are not included.

      Th3greatscott I want to eat farm
      raised salmon. The stuff I get at Costco is delicious. My research, which includes speaking to someone in the industry, has made me wary of this food. Amongst many disturbing facts are that the fish are fed dye to make the meat orange. They live in shallow pens that are rampant will fish feces and fish diseases. It is routine practice to combat these diseases with chemicals. There’s more... Of course, do your own research. The more I learned the more I knew I could no longer eat this food.

    • @tgs5725
      @tgs5725 Před 3 lety +1

      @@howleyboy3664 I know tilapia is raised in feces and sewage basically. Since it's a mad created fish. I'm not aware of salmon being able to survive in these dirty climates tho.

    • @howleyboy3664
      @howleyboy3664 Před 3 lety +2

      Th3greatscott The lifecycle of a tilapia differs greatly from the lifecycle of a salmon. Salmon migrate for hundreds if not thousands of miles from fresh water to salt water and back again. It’s not just the environment but it’s the different foods they encounter at different times in their lifecycle. The lifecycle of a salmon is impossible for humans to duplicate in pens. Therein lies a huge problem with farm raised salmon. Tilapia on the other hand can live their entire lifecycle in ponds. They are more genetically suited for for fish pen environments. Their environment is much easier for humans to duplicate. Having said all that, I am still wary of any farm raised fish. There is, of course, an emphasis on profit and productivity. If you feed fish garbage, and keep them alive with antibiotics you get a questionable product. I’m sure there are dedicated fish farmers out there who provide a great product, but after all I’ve learned, I’m sticking to wild caught fish...

    I enjoyed this with many other videos amongst your channel. I give you props for including Salmon in such high regard for you said in another video that it is pretty unavailable near you. Do you feel that Sadines would probably suffice just as well?? Also, do you think the fact that Sardines and wild caught Salmon that is canned would have impact on its nutritional value?
    PS I LOVE the fact that you included bread in the bad list. I’m an assistant grocery store manager and it always drives me nuts watching people wipe out bread. I know when the Covid threat first hit the fan here in the US back in March, I stocked up on meat and re-enacted my butcher box 😆.
