Yes. Hyperinsulinemia, hypertension, elevated triglycerides & low HDL. Been keto since June 2020, then carnivore for past 3 months...getting better but it's slow going. Going from keto to carnivore CAUSED MY GLUCOSE TO GO HIGHER. I'm crushed.

Great informative video Kait. I've been a diabetic since last 17 years on oral medication. I can say the one thing that made it worse has been snacking. I've started intermittent fasting last four months and with some results. Snacking in control, needs more effort but overall you hit the nail on the head

In December 2020 i cut carbs and sugar out of my foods and started IF. These greatly had a positive affect on my lifestyle. I have the energy to go for long walks and recently started a kettle bell workout, which helped me go to bed at a decent time (I've never felt excited to actually snuggle up in bed before lol) Good energy and good rest gave me good moods. 321 lb to 296 lb in 5 weeks I have nothing to complain about.

My doctor told that I have metabolic syndrome some time ago. But he didn’t tell me what it was. For some reason it came to mind this morning and I looked it up. I know that my blood sugar is elevated to the pre diabetic level. So I’ve been consuming below 5 grams of carbs each day. I was walking an hour a day for a time as well. Today I added intermittent fasting at an 16/8 ratio. If this doesn’t do the trick, I’m going to check into laparoscopic surgery. Thank you for the added information.

Its hard to find information about how to actually fix metabolic syndrome and my insulin resistance (and therefore my pcos symptoms, all drs have offered is birth control) that I've been suffering with for more than 10 years.. I didnt really acknowledge how bad it was until now that I've gained about 80 lbs now since I first started seeing symptoms as a skinny 16 year old.

Yes I have it. With fatigue, I had little energy and appetite, eating just one meal per day. The fasting did nothing to help. I can't lose a pound to save my life. Instead a nutritionist told me I was getting too few calories/nutrients for fuel. I needed to eat more - more protein, veggies and drink more water. I'm now starting on a "thermo-metabolic" nutrition plan. I hope it helps. I'm tired of living tired.

Well, I looked at the parameters and found I met at least three of them. My doctors have never said, oh you have metabolic syndrome. Now that I know what it is I can plan to reduce these symptoms. Thank you.

I am really thankful that at 50 I don't have any of the symptoms and I can fall asleep as soon as my head touches the pillow...my husband always said that it's 'terrible' that I fall asleep so fast because he needs at least 30 mins before he can fall asleep. I also go to bed early and get up early to do my workout daily...however I need to take an hour nap in the afternoon because I usually just sleep 5hrs at night.

Thanks for your clear messages. Does high fibre balance out high carb. Eg if 50 or 100 carb per day is consumed is that the net of fibre?

I started experiencing pretty moderate/severe reactive hypoglycemia for the first time last Sunday. If it wasn't for you Kate I wouldn't have figured out it was reactive and wouldn't have been able to fix it. The top results on Google tell you to do the exactly wrong things! Within 24hours of seeing your video and almost completely avoiding sugar/carbs and intermittent fasting, I haven't experienced any more symptoms. I have lost 8lbs and feel much better than I did!
    Thanks Kate!!!
I think my calorie intake has probably been on the low side since I lost 8lbs in 5 days and my body hasn't been enjoying the change to much, yet. But I'm still 100x better off than I was!

@KardXP , it's not as strict, but about 85--90% low carb. I work out frequently now which also helps reduce insulin resistance. I lost about 35lbs in total and haven't had any issues with blood pressure or I.R. since starting Keto/Intermittent fasting. I generally only eat lunch and dinner and feel much better throughout the day. Also make sure if you're doing Keto and working out you have an electrolyte mix in the morning, Keto causes your body to drop salt and electrolytes, which is good at first but you can get low in the long term and have lower energy and get spells of dizziness!

I think I’ve had metabolic problems my entire life. The only time I’ve had a stable metabolism and successful waistline reduction was when I quit sugar. It’s the best I ever felt in my life, but eventually I succumbed to the taste and fell off the wagon. It’s time to get back onto the program.

I would love to know how fasting fits into this and if so which type? 16:8, OMAD, ADF? My Dr. told me her hesitation with recommending IF (for me, she is a big fan in general) is that it can potentially lead to a binge at the end of the day. In her words, its better to keep blood sugar stable all day by focusing on protein every time I eat, than risk those big swings as a result of IF. For this reason I wonder if the way to add in fasting would be a once a week 36 hr fast?

Is there somewhere that you have a complete meal plan for a type 2 diabetic. I am trying to gain my years back and reverse this mess I let my body get into.

I was dx with insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome about three years ago. I have been struggling with weight loss since then. I have a very hard time losing weight.

    • @jeannesnodgrass8073

The insulin resistance makes it difficult to lose any weight. I started keto about nine months ago with the goal of reversing my insulin resistance because I didn’t think I could lose weight until this happened. I figured it would take a year but now I am seeing great progress. I have lost two pounds a month since changing my diet. This may not seem like much but my goal wasn’t quick weight loss and before I couldn’t lose anything no matter what. I really believe the saying “Be healthy to lose weight not lose weight to be healthy.” There is hope if you have patience and stay ketovore. Good luck 💕
