    • @TelemetryOverlay
      @TelemetryOverlay  Před 3 lety

      Hi. The camera does not record the Lean Angle directly, but for motorcycling videos the software calculates it from the GPS data, which is not perfect but usually good enough. It also calculates an Attitude Estimate from the gyroscope and accelerometer sensors, which can be useful in other sports (but not motorcycling, where there is a constant acceleration)q. I hope this makes sense

    I'd like to have the GPS data (map, altitude difference, altitude) for my entire route by adding up my 30-minute clips, which isn't possible with the Insta360 Studio software. Is it possible to do this with telemetry overlay?
    Thanks in advance.

    • @TelemetryOverlay
      @TelemetryOverlay  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Yes. If your videos are strictly consecutive you can load them all at once and the program will join them and their data. If they aren't strictly consecutive (some Insta360 models miss a second or two between files) you can still load the videos separately, add each one of them to the Export Queue, and then enable "join exports" to get a single final video

    BEWARE: If you are intending to use a bluetooth mic for recording audio AND the GPS remote to log telemetry, you cannot.
    I made the mistake of buying the GPS remote with my camera in order to record telemetry with the intention of using one of my airpods in one of the earcups of my helmet in order to record audio. The Bluetooth implementation in the One R will only allow ONE peripheral to be connected at any given time.

    • @TelemetryOverlay
      @TelemetryOverlay  Před 3 lety +2

      @halfrhovsquared Před 3 lety

      @@TelemetryOverlay - That might require a few moments of effort to synch up with the video, but probably worth it to obtain telemetry rather than completely go without. Although, it would not be possible for me as I do my editing in the Insta360 app and iMovie on my iPad rather than a more capable NLE such as Premier. My own workflow precludes that option, sadly.

      @halfrhovsquared Před rokem

      @@andreasadutto9681 - I think the Rode Wireless Pro plugs into the mic-adaptor, doesn't it? It's not Bluetooth to the camera.
      If so, then you will be able to use the GPS Remote alongside the Rode. What you will NOT be able to use, however, is an external power-supply so you will be limited by the battery life. This is because the mic adaptor goes into the USB C port so you cannot provide power to the camera at the same time.

    • @TelemetryOverlay
      @TelemetryOverlay  Před 2 lety

      Hi. I'm not sure what setting you are referring to. In Settings, there's ""Insta: Read accel & gyro" and "GoPro: Read accel & gyro". Is that what you mean? Those settings are independent. They mean "When reading data from an Insta (or GoPro) camera, do yuo want to import the data from the accelerometer and thy gyroscope?". This is optional because it takes more time to import those streams. You can get info on each setting by hovering the mouse on them

    Hey! Nice video and thumbs up for the workflow. I am using Telemetry Overlay too. However I noticed that with Insta360 One X2 I have a different (calculated) speed than the actual. How can I fix this. It's 10 km difference.

    • @TelemetryOverlay
      @TelemetryOverlay  Před 2 lety

      Different speedometers use different smoothing values. That accounts for some of the differences. You can change the smoothing amount of a gauge in Telemetry Overlay, or in the case of Insta360 switch between 2D and 3D speeds, which are calculated differently. Maybe that helps.
      Some speedometers are also more accurate than others. The one on my motorcycle is not very accurate, for example. And commercial cars are known to often display a higher speed than the real one, for safety reasons.
      It could also be that the camera or external tracker got a bad GPS signal and that caused a bad speed calculation

    • @TelemetryOverlay
      @TelemetryOverlay  Před 2 lety +1

      The first workflow for reframed videos, yes. Just import the rendered video in Resolve, or export as Transparent Video and merge footage and overlays there. For the second workflow (full 360 output), you will need to use some 360 plugin for resolve. You might want to do some research on KartaVR, they have options for that.

    Finally getting the ONE R and seriously thinking about Telemetry Overlay. Since I usually go for long rides I guess I’ll be just recording the most interesting parts of my routes, thus my setting might be: One R/iPhone App for GPS data while recording and a Garmin Felix 5X Plus for full route GPS recording. Questions are:
    1) would it be also your suggested setting, given my needs?
    2) is the iPhone app recording live GPS even if in background, with the start/stop recording activated from the Roadie Remote? (iPhone unlocked, with another navigation app running)
    3) is the acceleration data taken from the sole GPX flow? Should it be, do you know how many tracking per second are taken?
    4) I might have read something above in regards with lean angles. How could they be (even indirectly) tracked by GPS/Attitude and exported in Telemetry Overlay?
    Many thanks in advance: these are many questions but hopefully useful for many people.

    • @TelemetryOverlay
      @TelemetryOverlay  Před 2 lety +1

      As far as I remember, the iPhone app only sends the GPS data to the camera if the screen is on and the app is open. Not if you lock it. Do you happen to have an Apple Watch? I think it's more convenient as it keeps sending the data (but I have not tested that personally). Both the iPhone and the Apple Watch record at 1Hz, while the dedicated GPS Remote records at 10Hz. So streams like GPS-based acceleration and lean angle should be more accurate with the remote. The camera also records accelerometer data but in the case of Insta360 camera it is often not aligned with the direction of travel. The Lean Angle data is also based on GPS data for Insta360 videos, not the other sensors (at least for now)

    I recorded the GPS data with my Polar watch. How can I cut the GPX file , that the GPX file is synchronized with the video recording? Otherwise I have to record the whole trip, that the recording is synchronized with the GPX file. I only want to film certain parts, otherwise the camera is off. During a 2-hour bike ride, I will record about 15-20 minutes. If I load a 10 second video with the created GPX file into the program, the whole trip will be played in 10 seconds.

      Hi Thomas, If your Insta360 video contains good GPS data Telemetry Overlay will sync the GPX file automatically with the video. If the video does not have GPS data you will have to adjust the Sync settings manually, as explained in this tutorial: czcams.com/video/zfaWz_uZ5as/video.html

    • @TelemetryOverlay
      @TelemetryOverlay  Před 3 lety

      Do you mean for 360 outputs? Yes. The last part of the tutorial covers that, if I understand you correctly. Any 360 space transformations will have to be handled with a (360 capable) third party video editor, not in Telemetry Overlay

      @@TelemetryOverlay I mean in the final output of the video, the text/graphics position will remain in the screen instead of moving along with the image. • @TelemetryOverlay
      @TelemetryOverlay  Před 3 lety

      @@geotaggingpeo-bohol5804 Thank you for clarifying. You cannot achieve that with a single video. You would need two videos (or two completely separate layers) and a software that can reproduce 360 footage plus a semi-transparent layer as a heads-up display. That probably exists but I have never seen it.
