      You will not get that speed unless you use a proprietary card reader which can get that speed through spftesre

    Once upon a time, I used to do food photography and during that time she( Joanie Simon) was my hero, my role model and my Guru. I transitioned to sports photography. My search terms got changed, my passion got changed, my most watched youtube channel got changed. Today, after so many years, I suddenly came across your Video. And I can't make you understand my feelings in words! It was suchha surreal feel deep inside me, seeing my Mentor, my role model again!
    In India, when a disciple meet his Guru, he offers Pranam(salutation) to his Guru. I offer you, Joanie Simon, the same.
    And with that hairstyle and color, you are looking even more gorgeous! You got younger, I feel! hahah

      @@TheBiteShot Just look WHO replied!!! My God! It's so kind of you! Ya, actually I had to make that transition. Food photography market in India has got saturated, thanks to the free work delivered to those restaurants by those food vloggers. So, I thought it to be the right time to pivot to a genre that I knew least that i loved but it really makes me feel fulfilled. I love playing soccer, my childhood passion. I thought why don't I mix my present passion (photography) with my childhood one!. And thus....
      But wait, didn't I subscribe yet?... Done.

    Thank you Joanie, for demystifying what all those numbers and letters mean. I do feel more powerful and confident; I just checked my cards and noted that the staff at Adorama did a great job of guiding me when I purchased them. Love your new look, as always, very inspiring!❤👏🏽

    Card speed is really only an issue if recording video or taking action shots with continuous bursts. When shooting food, portraits or landscapes pretty much any old SD card will do as long as it has the space the photographer needs for the file sizes their camera records. Nice to see someone do a video on card speeds though, love your videos, very informative. Also love the new blonde hair, it suits you. :)

    Joanie, great video. There are lots of gear videos on youtube but not that many dedicated to memory cards. It seems like no one ever discussed read/write speed until the Sony A1 and Nikon Z9 came out with their massive file sizes and and incredible frame rates. One thing I might mention is that there are two types of CF Express cards - Type A and Type B. Like SD cards the difference between these involve storage size and read/write speed. Regardless, this was great information. I will recommend it to my friends who are either new to photography or trying to up their game.

    Well, I had no idea memory cards were so specific. I'm off to check my cards against what my camera uses, and delete content on the cards (which have been backed up). You have saved me many $$ cos I just keep buying new cards in the believe I need to store my photos on them! Also just LOVING the new hair colour Joanie!

    Beginner question. For transferring your images from camera to computer or iPad, is using Bluetooth or WiFii just as good as using a card reader connected to your computer?

  • @rangersmith4652

    One major advantage of shooting stills with ten+ year old cameras is that just about any SD or CF card one can readily buy will work just fine, so you can buy slower ones at a lower price. But do check your specs to be sure.
    What happened to U2? Last I heard, it still hasn't found what it's looking for.

    So confused:
    If the card doesn’t distinguish between Read and Write speed isn’t what is shown on the card the “Read” speed?
    In the example you show with the Sandisk Extreme Plus 190 MB/S you call single number shown (190 MB/s) the “Write” speed.
    Would be good to let people know that if only one number is shown it is most likely the Read, not the Write speed.
    Unless I’m wrong.
    Even in the specs of the card in the fine print it’s 90 MB/s write speed and 190 MB/s read speed.
    Unless I’m wrong but then let me know please.

  • @jefferyshall

    Wait UHS The roman numeral 1 max is 104Mb/so how was that card’s maximum burst speed 170Mb/s

    I watched this over 2 days so It might have been mentioned earlier, and I forgot about it... But i don't remember hearing about the difference between CF Express type A & B. My Canon R5 uses B and Sonys I believe use CF Express A (which also work with the QHD slots I believe). And At this time, the CF-A's are considerably more expensive than the B's.

    • @TheBiteShot
      @TheBiteShot  Před 9 měsíci

      Ah yep, the two types are different in terms of write speed so best to match with the one your device requires.

    • @jpdj2715
      @jpdj2715 Před měsícem

      The cards are a business model for selling memory cells in chips. The price depends on several factors - see my comment under the video - but in the case of Sony, also is a way of moving out of a more competitive market and being able to earn more money from the buyers.
      Type A is smaller, generally considerably slower, and more expensive per GB storage. Because the cards are slower, they likely heat up less, being throttled by their top speed.
