Great review. I would have liked a Garmin-type mount (as on the Beeline gps) for better mounting on handlebars, and easier to remove too.

HELLO, I think I have a problem with my action remote and my Insta360 ONE RS, it seems it doesn't remember the pairing setup, if I turn the remote off after pairing with my camera when I turn it back on, it shows again the "setting" icon and force me to "pair new"... that's very annoying, I think this is not how it should be... can you please help? Thanks....

Great video thanks allot! This video also make me decide to buy one with my Insta360 RS one. But it act a bit weard in my case. Everytime when I power down both camera and remote they don't connect anymore (automatically) and I have to do a new "pairing" of the devices. I'm in conversation (support ticket) with Insta360 but so far they did not come-up with any helpfull info.

I recently got the GPS action remote. However, I noticed that my one RS doesn't reconnect to the remote automatically when turn back on after turning off the camera. I have to do the "Pair new" every time the camera is restarted. Do you have this issue? Thanks

What is the battery life of the GPS like? Can you record GPS and video separately, eg if I'm running a marathon and want to record a short video every mile can I have the GPS data show my entire distance covered from the start of the run?
It will record data as you capture video since it writes in into the video file. If you ar not recording video then there is nowhere for it to save GPS data.

For sure the X3. A USB Outlet (Nominal 5V) and recommended is a 3A input. I've used mine on the motorbike for a trip last weekend. All new, tried various and ended up with 2.4A charger and a good quality cable and the unit filmed and was fully charged on arrival home, third day. The first two were less successful as a shared supply and not enough current.
I don't have the GPS remote yet, but would believe it is possible. Also it would be nice to know the expected battery run time.
i have to buy remote control because i need GPS when i windsurfing it is very stupid , in gopro gps sensor integrated in to camera, so i lost insta remote control to the see in first 5 minutes my windsurfing. so belt for remote control made some idiot

Remember that you can't just add the overlay to 360 video, it has to be edited and then extracted as a flat video.

Just bought mine, and so far it hasn't saved gps data. Do I have to start recording from the remote in order for it to work? It is paired to the camera.
All I did was pair to the camera and it just worked from there. Shouldn’t matter if you record from remote or camera, as long as the remote is switched on and paired.

the insta360 x3 by itself don't have the option to add overlay data like speed? I want to buy one for karting but i didnt find this information
Afraid not - you have to use a remote like this to capture the GPS data.....

Awesome, short to the point video! How come my desk top Insta360 Studio doesn't have the stat icon? I notice that you have 5 icons however mine only has 4 and the stat icon isn't one of them? Thank you!
Have you updated to the latest version?
In addition, it may only show up if the video has the embedded data to display - if you do not have the GPS data then it won't show the stats icon....

updated everything, but after shooting a video with a gps remote and when processing a video, the status tab does not appear. what could be wrong?
I'm haven't the same problem. Somehow I got the stats button to show up. But after phone replacement I'm back to stats button not showing up
Hey I figured out the problem from Reddit. On the camera itself, video screen, tap on the video specs at the bottom for example 4k 16:9/30. After taping on video specs, on next screen top change settings from Flowstate to Post. You will then see the stats button on next recorded video in app
I bought the remote controll because it is said on their website that it can control up to 3 cameras. This got confirmed by Insta360 support at first. So I bought 3 INSTA360 ONE RS cameras just to find out that: Yes, you can connect up to 3 cameras to the remote control. And the remote can shut all 3 cameras off. BUT it can only re-start one of them (the last one which was connected to the remote). So for me that means that this is completely useless, as I need to be able to to controll all 3 cameras including turning them off and on again, which does not work. Which also got confirmed by Insta360 support once I filed a ticket with technical support why 2 of 3 cameras won't wake up... The thing that me annoys the most is that they advertise that up to 3 cameras are supported, but nobody tells you that you can't wake them up...
Not cool at all, they don't explain what " Control" means
in the remote manual it say, only the X3 can be woken up
Has anyone ever have issues with this remote? Sometimes when I use it. When recording for over 30 mins. It will stop recording (which is normal) and start a new recording, but It would lower the quality of the video, for that next clip. Then it would change back after a new recording is started. Seems to be random
Sadly the Remote do not show any Gps or location data in the 360 video rendering for Google blue line and you have to use a Gps logger that has to be started exactly @ the same time as the 5K 360 video 🤢
But why does it need GPS?
To add overlay data.
Don't waste your money I have been chatting to other people on my holidays and they say the same thing it doesn't show your location and it disconnected 😡😡😡

On my RS 1-inch the gps remote doesn‘t add gps. Have tried everything, no luck. On my X3 it does add gps but not for HDR shots, only normal photos. Reconnecting the remote to the camera after turning on is cumbersome and takes a long time. All in all, very disappointing. I fully support your comment.
My X3 does NOT have a “Bluetooth remote” option in settings.?
Hmmm, the remote is listed as being compatible……have you updated your X3 firmware?

Please note that while this remote can pair with 3 Insta360 X2 ONE / X3 etc. cameras it fails dismally to provide GPS data if not paired to ONE SINGLE camera. The moment you have more than one camera paired out goes the valuable GPS data!! So if you, like me, have two or more Insta360 cameras compatible with this remote and mount them to your bike/motorcycle you will only be able to change a few modes and stop/start recording BUT ZERO GPS data... A real disappointment then!
The above issue was rectified with the help of the Insta360 support team. After the software update everything started to work as advertised!
This has a few issues.
😢No way of telling how may satellites are connected.
😢 No details on the types of satellites connected.
😢 The screen lights turn to green too quickly, and so information cannot be read in darker environments
Works also with i sta x2!!
Don't buy this remote if you own a RS or R. So many problems concerning connecting fails over and over again. Not sure X2 and X3 owners experience the same problem.

This device is far from intuitive. From what I see, it doesn’t even pick up Ant+ or BT+ data from a nearby power meter or HR strap.

DO NOT BUY if you own a one R. It is completely USELESS. It pairs fine and wakes up the camera and gets stuck at "awakening camera" after it wakes up the camera. Then it goes into "camera disconnected". Tried multiple solutions but nothing works. I regret buying the remote and have to control the camera manually. Amazing hardware and video quality let down by the USELESS remote.
