I appreciate this video. I bought the X4 today and the preview remote not knowing for sure (but assuming) it was much better than the action remote. For me your video confirmed that my purchase was the right move. I appreciate it.
nice video clarifying things. I like real buttons on things like this but the connection and wake on seems to be the best way to go here.
Yah, the connection/wake works much better with the preview remote but I suspect this will be tweaked with the action remote in future firmware, it's not a big deal, just minor inconvenience.
I love the preview remote. I do a lot of long distance motorcyle riding which is what I mostly use my cameras for. I also use a helmet mount or mount them on other areas where I can't even see the camera much less use the controls. So I can just attach the preview remote to my handlebar and I'm good to go. I would highly recommend the preview remote to anyone using a helmet mount or mounting your camera where you do not have easy access to your camera. A game changer in my opinion.
Yah, I was going to just get the action remote but after using both, once you go 'preview' you never go back lol it's Day and Night dif tbh and it's the best action camera remote in the industry, DJI has something similar but still isn't as good.
Which one would you recommend for the insta 360x3?
I don't think the GPS Preview remote is compatible with the X3, not sure if that's mapped out in future firmware releases so you're only choice now is the GPS Remote. Both are good and do the job, the Preview gives you that nice preview screen and a few more features.
Thanks, but nothing to compare here! Haha! The preview remote is a total game changer. Sony had a similar remote and it was also a game changer. I wish gopro would develope a preview remote. Again, without the video preview, it is from the stone ages! 😊
Yah, wasn't really a fair comparison but I had people ask me to do a review on the GPS Action remote after the it was supported via Ace Pro's 2nd last big firmware update ;)
With these remotes does it allow speed to show in the videos? Like a speedometer
Only the GPS Preview Remote has the speedometer feature, not the GPS Remote.

Well, it kind of does lol When you try to pair it, it will tell you it didn't connect/pair but it actually connected. It's very glitchy, as far as I know, I can start and stop record with the remote and turn off. It can kind of switch modes but then it gets stuck. So for now, I would only use it to start/stop until hopefully we see a firmware making it 'fully' compatible ;)
Wished the preview mode worked with the X3 Flawless with Acepro
Wouldn't be surprised if we are that implemented in the next firmware
you have to first enable the "bluetooth wakeup" in acepro for the remote to wake up the camera via remote

Thank you for all the info. Didi you already try to connect both cameras together with the Preview Remote? I saw a video where they said that the preview function doesn't work anymore if you connect more than one device. I would like to be able to switch preview between my cameras. Is it really not possible?
yes, you cannot connect more then one device with the GPS Preview remote due to the preview mode I think. It would be too cpu intensive to run two previews from two cameras simultaneously. I did notice one thing though, both of my Ace Pro and X4 is paired with this remote so when disengages the other one will connect automatically if it's on.
@@MiyagisRant Too bad. With my phone I can switch liveview between my different ace pros. It takes some time to switch between cameras, but it does work. I wish the remote could too.

@@MiyagisRant I've been doing a lot of street view with the X3. So I was worried about not being able to do street view with the X4, using the previous version's GPS.
What is the battery life of the Preview?
It's actually surprisingly good considering the screen, I had it on for most of the day and it still had about 1/4 bar left when I got home

My Insta360 X4 does NOT connect with my GPS Action Remote.
The GPS Action remote is not 'fully' compatible ... yet. Hopefully we will see that change in future firmware updates. But there it actually 'works' lol Try to pair the remote to the X4, it will tell you it's not connected... but it actually is, press the record button ;) It will do basic functions with the X4. I'm guessing the insta360 cameras are using the same remote frequency.

Insta360 has confirmed that if you add GPS to any 4k footage on the phone app you can only export in a maximum of 1080p which renders it pretty useless for content creators.
Yes unfortunately that is the limitation of the phone app, you can only export to 4K with Stats in the desktop studio. Not sure why, maybe it's a limitation of the phone with stats control. Wouldn't be surprised if they open that up in future updates.
@@MiyagisRant the thing wrecking my head is the desktop studio doesn't have all the layouts or the Garmin connection. So why give all that to the app and only have low resolution. Makes no sense
@@SingleTracker Yah, it's missing a couple of elements compared to the phone app. Yah it's strange why they did that. I'll put in a request to my contact and see if they sync the two together. The studio app is getting better and better but I really wished they brought Shot Labs to the desktop which I use more, doing shot labs on my phone is gruesome lol
