At that distance it will hold but it will wobble. The X4 is heavy, the longer the stick the more likely the weight at the end of that stick will 'slip' if you hit a bump. I had that happen to me on the 3 meter stick when I was on my mountain bike with it. I think most of the problem is that the handlebar even with the rubber pads on the claw will move no matter how tight you clamp it down. It would never move if it was directly connected to the X4 but with that extra stick length, it's basically acting as a 'lever' with that weight of the x4 on the end. I can only think of one way to prevent it from moving, having some sort of blockage for that droop rotation. I think instead of putting it on my handlebar next time, I'll put it on the top of the fork stem by the headset and rotate it in a way where it can't turn. The wobble is inevitable at that length but with the flowstate that wobble won't show.

@@MiyagisRant Or even introduce another contact point with the support clamp, you know that's a thing right? It's like the heavy duty clamp only without a 1/4 thread which has been replaced with a open end clamp to go on any point/bar on your bike scooter etc.

@@Sir-Kay Yah, dual clamps could work also but I still think if both of those clamps on let's say a handlebar with a 4 foot selfie stick and the x4 on the end, if you hit a bump, both clamps I think would still 'slip' tbh, I could be wrong.

@@lukasporto different? That's the same one, the only difference is that the bottom part is available in two dif mounts. On the back of the case there's an opening for the charger so you don't need to remove it to charge the remote.

The preview remote works perfectly with X4, but the GPS one kind of does, it's glitchy and only gives you the very basic functions.

You have to balance the Ace Pro on the gimbal mount by tilting the camera back and forth until you find a sweet spot, there's really no 'calibration' once the camera is balanced, it will self calibrate.

@@manuelhueber25 Yah, i had no issues with it balancing when it's turned on, now when you mount the Ace Pro on it, it will flop down, but once you turn it on, it will balance face forward, at least mine did.

OK, bit of progress, not what I wanted but that may change? The GPS action remote has firmware v1.0.2.3 and the GO 3s has v1.0.22, findings, Freeframe video did not work at all, be it in the action pod or out, normal video GPS telemetry only worked with the cam in the action pod, removing the cam from the pod stopped the GPS overly working, oh well, it will be heavier for the dog on its back, he's only a wee thing... at least I got it working, and as you say, they may update the preview remote(which I also have) for the 3s too ;)

@@MrSKB69 I'm going to say due to the size of the camera, the GPS chip is in the pod and not the camera. Which makes sense. Only so much they can pack in that tiny little thing lol Maybe we'll see that in GO4 ;)

I'm pretty sure none of the Insta360 cameras have GPS chip's in them, this is the reason that Insta360 are so adept at dishing out new remotes and ensuring they are not compatible with earlier gen cams 🧐 I now have the Insta360 GPS Smart remote (One X2) Insta360 GPS action remote (X3 and GO3s) and finally the GPS preview remote (X4 and Ace Pro) it's never ending 😩🤣

@@MrSKB69 no you are correct they don't lol sorry my brain is fried, this is what a week is COVID does to your brain. Not sure why it works so tracking once the GO3 is separated but I'll give mine a try and see if I get the same results.

neither the Ace Pro or the X4 has a 'universal' USB, ie. you cannot just plug a mic into it and record. There's only one camera that can do this right now and that's the DJI Action 4. For the Neweer CM28, you will require the mic adapter. Personally, I don't want to use the adapter due to bulk and open panels and no longer waterproof/drop proof. Right now, the only way to prevent using the mic adapter is via Bluetooth and the only mic that is a complete wireless solution with excellent audio quality is the DJI Mic 2. There are other 'bluetooth' mics but DJI has the best quality audio. You can use helmet mics which also work via bluetooth but price is high and bulk. That said, I hear through the grapevine that the Ace Pro's USB is actually a universal and we might even see direct USB/Mic feature open up in future firmware. Not sure about the X4 but the hardware on the X4 is very similar to the Ace Pro so I'm going to guess that will come for that device as well. ;)

@@MiyagisRant I beg to differ. My cheapo chinese mic works with the X4, it just doesn't sound that great. That's why I was wondering if others had managed to get it to work as well.

@@MiyagisRant I posted a link to the mic I bought for my One RS to bypass the adapter and when I got my X4 I tried it and it works just not very good quality. (what do you expect for $15 lol)

@@OldTechNerd That's great, never tried a direct usb mic to my X4, always just used my Mic 2. I'm not a big fan of stuff sticking out of my cameras probably because I'm always around harsh environments so any type of opening that's not waterproof is not a good idea. I know the direct usb mic does not work with the Ace Pro as I've tried with 3 different wired mics. As for the CM28, it does not work with the transmitter, once you plug it into the USB, X4 goes into either U Disk more or Charging, so that should answer your question. ;)

@@OldTechNerd Yah, I'm not an audiophile guy for my use, sound is not priority and DJI Mic2 works perfect fine and surprisingly good quality for a bluetooth mic. You can just get the mic2 by itself and not the whole kit and kabootle, it's much cheaper and it works with the Ace Pro as well which is nice, wish it would work with the GO3's, maybe we'll see that in future firmware...or not ;)

Yah, the premium is great for tough protection but I have to agree, if there's a lot light/sun glare, because the lens protrudes further out, it's more prone to reflections/artifacts.

Stay tuned for the next firmware update on that USB Mic support ;) Personally, I have the A4 and never use the front screen as it's too small for my old eyes. Everyone uses their camera differently, remember, front screens are relatively new and we seem to have managed to frame just fine without it before ;)

As we already know that the Ace Pro has the least min focus range of the 3 big players. That said, if close range is what you shoot mainly in then I wouldn't suggest it at all, go with either the GP or A4, I have the A4 and close range is decent on it. I don't shoot close range much at all but that's just me and when I do want to, I have dioptres ready in my bag.

I have both and both work as they should. I just prefer the plastic one as i'm around salt water a lot.

Doubt they will be able to make it 'wider' via firmware, it's a lens limitation. GP is the same, don't forget, for a wider FOV, you still have to buy the Max Lens 2.0. Maybe we'll see something like that for the Ace Pro in the future, why not, they keep surprising us with new innovative ideas ;)

I don't think the GPS Preview remote is compatible with the X3, not sure if that's mapped out in future firmware releases so you're only choice now is the GPS Remote. Both are good and do the job, the Preview gives you that nice preview screen and a few more features.

At the end of the day, for the most, these are just toys bro ;)

Actually no, they were both shot in 4K30, STD color profile, no low light assist and all other settings on auto, no manual modes, both on Dewarp. Not sure what other 'different' modes you're referring to. The only variance I can see is the sharpness, both of which are set to suggested optimal settings and in good lighting sharpness is almost identical on both so it should not change in this sample. Don't get me wrong, I am a big DJI fan and have been even before Insta360 came into play. Even at different angles it shouldn't effect 'quality' of video unless variable lighting is involved which is not in this case, there are some slight angle degrees difference but not enough to impact this footage. Look closely at the footage, look at the distance results, neither what you claim will effect those kinds of results, especially when I'm going through tight corridors. The corals on my sides and the sand on the floor are almost at the same distance for both cameras, look at the detail and color processing on the Ace Pro compared to the A4. You are correct the A4 is an amazing camera and why I always run both on my dives. If you check my other videos, I've done lots of out of the water side by side with these two and yes they are very similar, tbh, in good lighting, I actually think the A4 is slightly better then the Ace Pro, where the A4 fails is when that light is not a it's optimal condition it starts to suffer as in my dive sample, GoPros are even worse at this. Visibility that day was horrible underwater and it was a good test to see how both cameras treated this on an 'out of camera' untouched footage test. Sure, if I shot the A4 at 10 Bit and color grade after I could probably get the same and/or better results but that's not my point to his video, as I always say, not everyone who buys these cameras know how to or what even color grading is. The Ace Pro shines with that AI cpu, not sure how it does it but it is insanely good at compensating the same I'm seeing with the X4 with the same cpu... albeit sometimes too good as the odd time it's over saturated ;)

I think due to the weight and size of the X4, the wobble is inevitable. I'm going to design a special mount for the X4, I think it needs to be tethered/suspended to prevent the wobbling. But yah, framing and 360 is fine, I'll do up a 360 version of the X4 on the Avata 2.

@@peterryder6470 Yah that flowstate is incredible, I looked a the footage after and watching the drone wobble like that and the recording from the X4 was perfectly still boggles my mind lol. Yah, I think being 'attached' to the drone is cause that wobble due to the size and weight of the X4, either using dampening or a rope tether to suspend it would fix the problem, dampening option would add more payload and the tether you wouldn't be able to take sharp dives or turns, would be funny if my x4 gets caught in the propellers lol... yikes, no that would be no good. :)

Yah, i agree with you, I'm an FPV virgin and I think this category of FPV is really targeted for people like me. I think the reasoning behind it was a lot of ppl were complaining about the weight, bulk of the the first Avata so they redesigned this one. That's my only gripe about this drone, I wish they at least made the prop guards replaceable like the first one. The goggles are amazing but I got a bit whoozy after burning through 3 batteries, I think I'll get use to it eventually or bring Gravol with me before I fly lol. Other then that, the drone is actually quite amazing, I honestly didn't think it would perform this great and I've been flying their Mini series for years.

@@MiyagisRant make sure you're sitting down or leaning against something when first getting used to FPV. You get more used to the motion, but I still find myself trying to setup in a good spot to sit. As far as the A2, just wait till you get to fly a "real" fpv drone. The power or "punch" as we like to call it, neither the A1 or A2 has that real punch. Heck, they both have the same thrust to weight ratio... A2 is lighter, so you think it's got more power, but it doesn't... DJI is sneaky

Well, it kind of does lol When you try to pair it, it will tell you it didn't connect/pair but it actually connected. It's very glitchy, as far as I know, I can start and stop record with the remote and turn off. It can kind of switch modes but then it gets stuck. So for now, I would only use it to start/stop until hopefully we see a firmware making it 'fully' compatible ;)

The GPS Action remote is not 'fully' compatible ... yet. Hopefully we will see that change in future firmware updates. But there it actually 'works' lol Try to pair the remote to the X4, it will tell you it's not connected... but it actually is, press the record button ;) It will do basic functions with the X4. I'm guessing the insta360 cameras are using the same remote frequency.

I don't have an Iphone but the Transmitter comes with apple lightning connection, so you plug the transmitter into the iphone via that connector like you would with an Android phone. It should be automatic default to the cm28, then you can use the mic accordingly.

I'm sure that will come. The success of the 3 and 3s will drive the update inevitably. 8nsta360 has been really good at filling in user requests in the past so I'm not worried 😉

Ok, I just did a test, sorry, never thought of that and you'll like this I think ;).. It doesn't require the POD to be on, the camera works independently. I'm think the Bluetooth receiver is in the camera instead of the POD. Here's what I did from about 20 feet away. I turn on the GPS remote, comes on, then I press the power button on the remote again to 'awaken camera'. ONLY the camera woke up on my GO 3, not the POD. That's cool, then I just have to press the record button on/off and the camera works accordingly... love it! Man, this is wild, I can even cycle through video modes, then record, then long press on remote power to turn off camera, and then again to turn off remote. All this and the POD wasn't even on....AWESOME!

Yes, you can on both but the GPS remote is small and I have it on my wrist with the provided wrist strap when I'm on my mountain bike or hunting. Usually my phone is tucked away and not easily accessible and sometimes I keep my case/POD in my backpack. It's a good alternative and smaller profile way to remote control that camera. With the phone you have to turn it on, run the app, wait to connect the app. The remote imo is probably the most convenient way or fastest way to turn the camera on/off and change modes.

@@MiyagisRant And the remote adds GPS coordinates; the pod does not. The remote also has a longer range than the pod. It is very awkward to use the phone as the remote.

Of course it would be due to the smaller lens but the new mega view is pretty close without warpage like the A2 in the widest fov. Look at the new video comparison by Mount media with side by side footage of the 3s, A4 and Gp12 and those are flagship cameras, I don't consider the 3s to be a flagship. I've had the A2 for over two years. For the slight fov differences I would rather have a camera that's more versatile, better quality video, smaller, doesn't overheat like crazy and not restricted to usage temps like the A2, and even a little camera like this has a removable lens guard. The A2 is a great little vlogging camera and used in normal weather conditions, other than that it's useless to me. Let's not mention the fact that we haven't seen a firmware update in 2 years and this camera is still active in stores.

Yah I might try the 3 meter stick on it but I think the insta360 clamp should work if I use the wrench to tighten it. That length and weight of the X4, it will put allot of downward torque on the mount.
