    Correction for something I said in the video: The Micro SD card is not actually included with the standard Twin Edition, it is only included when selecting the Get Set option or higher. Sorry for the mistake.
    Here I review the new Insta360 ONE RS Twin Edition; a hybrid action and 360 camera. I test the video quality, slow motion, low light performance, audio and 360 degree capabilities and conclude with my overall opinion.
    This camera was provided to me by Insta360 at no charge for the purpose of making this review.
    I compose the music for this channel myself.

    Tired of the GOPRO illusion. Expensive cameras that overhead and fry chips. Very happy with my 0ne RS. Found a sea turtle laying eggs on the beach. She took 45 minutes to lay her eggs. If I had a gopro the camera would have overheated before she was done and returned to the water. One RS did the job and I have the video and a big smile.

    Been looking to get an Insta360 One RS for a while. Just not sure whether to get the "Twin Edition" with the stock 360 lens, or go with the 4K standalone and get the 1-Inch 360 upgrade bundle. I'm particular about low-light imagery, and wasn't sure if the stock 360 lens was any good. Your video was the first to convince me that even the stock 360 lens was good enough. Your video was also the only one of the dozens I've seen that point out that there's no horizon levelling on the 4K boost lens, which was a consideration for me and always assumed the 4K lens had, until you pointed it out, then alternately pointing out that the stock 360 lens had it. So yes, this video put me well into being convinced that the Twin Edition is good enough for my needs without breaking the bank for the 1-Inch 360 (which I may still get in the much later future for more specialized content).
    Great video for the comprehensive review, especially without so much focus on yourself (which I honestly hate about some other reviewers) and instead focusing solely on the camera's features, pros, and cons. And your voiceover is very calm and soothing, without the exaggerations that so many other reviewers do. Keep up the good work! Hope you can do a review on the 1-Inch 360 lens and the 1-Inch 4K lens soon.

    Toe-tally worth watching! I'm still on the predecessor R One with the 360 and 1-inch modules and agree that the strength of this camera is the two in one you get. I thought I'd use the 1-inch module a lot more for both photos and video, but the truth is that more often than not I go for the phone when it comes to photos and Osmo Pocket for video. Most of the time I pick up the R One it has the 360 module on it.

    • @Roos-Reviews

    One on the best feature I found in this camera compared to the other popular brand is that it record in one single file in MP4.
    Gopro split long time video in 4Gb files and in post, 1 hour recorded is splitted in 7 files of 4GB with a file naming convention where you need to rely on file timestamp instead of filename ordering on multiple recorded session. Splitted files from the other brand has also ramdomly 0 to 2 frames overlap between each files which is time comsuming to adjust in post.

    • @FastRedPonyCar
      @FastRedPonyCar Před 11 měsíci

      Oh god this is amazing news. I just order an RS to replace a very tempermental hero 11. The frame overlap is infuriating when the primary use for my camera is to record 4 hours straight of a band performance. Our singer uses a nice Sony 4k camcorder that records in 1 or 2 huge files and the audio/video of the gopro files are ALWAYS going in and out of sync in addition to that micro split second where you get a video frame but the audio drops.

    I suppose the orange base helps if you've dropped it but otherwise, I'm not that keen on drawing attention to myself, especially when making a video with people around. Who was the famous photographer who pointed out that when you take a photo of someone, you are not taking a photo of someone, you are taking a photo of someone having their photo taken, unless you keep your profile very low. (You mentioned that niggle in the video actually).
    I loved the shadow demo of the 360 degree horizon levelling! That's a shot I will steal in the future...
    360VR footage... yes, it's perhaps the best way to "time travel" when viewed with a VR headset. I have a lot of footage made that way before the covid days when I stayed with my son and his young family for a long weekend, and haven't seen them since - I can put on the headset and re-live it all.
    All in all, yet another review which really makes me wonder why the rest bothered. Why didn't I subscribe before? Well, now I have.

The Wi-Fi is slow in fact if you use the app on your smartphone to check video recordings, the synchronization between action cam and iPhone (latest generation) is out of phase. In other words, the app sometimes delays the shooting and sometimes freezes the recording. It is therefore very difficult 😞 to operate with precision.

    Great reviews, btw, I recognize some of the scenes in your reviews and realized we live in the same city lol. I'm in the market for a new AC and having a tough time choosing between the DJI AC2/3, Insta360 One RS 4K or the GoPro Hero 10. I was ready to throw my credit card at the DJI AC3 until I found out about the focusing issue *sigh, too bad, I love my AC1 now I'm stuck at which one to get. I prefer not to go back into the GoPro wagon as I've had their cameras and their earlier versions was the one reason that pushed me away from the company. But the GP10/11 are quite nice from what I've seen in reviews.

    • @Roos-Reviews

      I did love the Hero10, but it was just my luck that it became unreliable, just like my previous GoPros. The firmware just wasn't stable enough for me to stick with it.

    • @Roos-Reviews
      @Roos-Reviews  Před rokem

      That's a good question. It is waterproof only when all the doors are locked closed, so I'm guessing once the adapter is attached there is potential for water ingress through that port if the rain is heavy or you're traveling at speed when it's raining. But maybe it would be ok as it's not being submerged. I think it's not without risk.

      360 cameras can hide the selfie stick. Because of the nature of spherical video, the stick is only visible directly below the camera and only takes up a tiny part of the spherical image, so it's easy for that to be removed by the software that merges the two halves of the sphere together.

I am doing motor vlogging which involving static vlogging while reviewing accessories and 2 angle video facing front and facing back when on motorbike. The ONE RS is a good way to get two cameras for less money than buying two separate cameras. The 360 module is really superb and I love using it.
      But for me, carrying the 360 camera and a separate small action camera like the action 2 is more convenient. I don't really like swapping modules and batteries when I need to change from 360 to non-360 video. I like to be able to quickly pull whichever camera I need out of my pocket and shoot within seconds, otherwise I may miss the shot.

    I lost my gopro max last week and my gopro 8 broke down this summer, heard that gopro is not bringing out a new max2... I'm interested in the insta 360 one RS, is it worth it or should I better buy another gopro max?
    ps; yes I like to have an action cam and also a 360 cam
    What do you advice?

    • @Roos-Reviews
      @Roos-Reviews  Před rokem

      I would choose the X3 over the RS. It does 360 and also non-360 with its 4K single lens mode. The biggest reason for me is the large display. The RS has a tiny display that I find difficult to use.
      Personally I prefer to use both a dedicated small action camera like the Action 2 and use the 360 camera only for 360 footage. Switching from 360 to Action, back and forth on the RS is a bit annoying when I'm out doing stuff. It's easier to carry two cameras.

    Honest review but not filming in 60fps and higher and then say it doesn't overheat? Lol in all other reviews I see the cam overheats easily during 60 and higher FPS recordings. Most users will only use 30 fps? I disagree. 60 is the new standard, even here on youtube, specially when 240 fps is also available today. In my opinion, filming nonstop for hours in 4K60 is the minimum requirement for action cams today. Action cams are there to capture action, so high framerate is always an important selling point. If it overheats during 4K60 it's not a good cam. Unfortunately there are no other options since they all overheat...
    Great video though and thanks for sharing!

      I'm on the latest firmware and there is no built-in horizon levelling of any kind when the 4K boost module is attached. You have to level it in the desktop software in post.

    • @Roos-Reviews
      @Roos-Reviews  Před 2 lety

      There's not much I can do to avoid CZcams's compression. I exported the ONE RS files in Pro Res, the highest option it has, and uploaded to CZcams in 4K. But then CZcams crushes it.

    • @x_jaydn
      @x_jaydn Před rokem

      Seems more like a bitrate issue rather than a resolution issue. Too many changing pixels between frames due to the high shutter speed might be causing the majority of that.
      An ND filter and a longer shutter speed exposure might help to reduce the bitrate-related pixelation.
      Additionally, exporting the 4K video at a recommended minimum bitrate of 25 Mbps would be *decent* but not perfect for CZcams 🤔

There will be a 10-15sec gaps between the recordings. I already sent mine back. It makes nice videos but not capable to record gapless is a nogo for me...

I then sent it back to them where I had to pay shipping charges. I got a message today saying there was nothing wrong with the camera and they want to send it back to me after I pay for shipping. If you want to use it mostly for 360 video the X3 is a lot better because of the physical design and large screen. But the One RS is better for non-360 footage. That 277 price is very appealing though.

    I have the One RS. It is garbage. I am sending it back tomorrow. The software you are forced to use with 360 video is junk. It would not even start without crashing on my computer. A Ryzen 9 system I built. A VERY powerful $4,000+ system. Then with the 4k mod 2/3 of the video files were corrupted every time I used it. I also have a DJI Osmo Action that never fails to work properly. The One RS is just junk IMO.

      Sorry to hear of your problems. I have a pretty basic PC I built for $550 with a Ryzen 2700X and a 4gb graphics card and it runs without problems on that. I wonder if something is configured differently on your system that's causing the crashes. What GPU are you running?

They proceeded to tell me to try all the things I already tried and asked a bunch of questions they could have answered by simply looking at the log file I sent. A google search found many others having the same issue. The video and sound quality on the files that worked was far worse than my older DJI Osmo Action. Even the stabilization was warpy and distorted. Just not a good camera for the money IMO.

      The one inch produces better video and photos, especially in lower light, but the difference isn't as big as I expected. In terms of the video quality, no it's not a big upgrade. Both are limited to 5.7K30fps. But the X3 is much nicer to use with the giant display and great menu.
