You're a real treasure, an excellent teacher, with aptitude, and talent!
Well young lady, I am an old coot, and when I was your age we had a Ford tractor to use a sickle bar on for cutting a 20 acre pasture. It was the neatest old tractor and I always had a soft spot for the Ford tractor. I watch in awe at your skills and wondered, if I ever had to do something like that, could I do it. After watching the tutorial I believe I could. You are better than any manual ever will be. You are organized in dismantling and trouble shooting the problem, organized with spare parts as well as kits, and you have the warmest smile of any mechanic I have ever seen. Most mechanics are a bit salty in demeanor and they look like they could use an oil change. I don't know what your career will be but whatever you choose you will be the best I am sure.
I have re-watched this video several times because I am getting ready to service the top lid on my 1952 Ford 8N. Thanks for all the good info Rachel!
Rachel. I followed your video tutorial and fixed the hydraulics on my 🚜. Thank you for all of the information you’ve shared. A customer for life.
Best tractor tutorials I have ever seen. I have an 861 Ford tractor that's been sitting under a barn shed for many years.
You have inspired me to rebuild it. Thanks.
These videos are by far the best I have ever seen in dealing with any Project!
I love the passion you have working on these old tractors. I have a 1949- 8N and it was my grandfather's tractor. I think it's great that you make these videos, you must of had a great teacher
Just got a ‘39 9N with the top lid disassembled and had never worked on that before. This was so helpful to get everything back together properly. Thank you so much!
Hi Rachel , I am so excited , I just bought a 195? Ford 800 5 speed . It was a Barn find . Hasn't ran in 10-20 years possibly . With your help , videos tutorials and parts it sure makes it so much easier to tackle . Keep up the good work .
Love this woman, very knowledgeable and love how she explains the details and things you may run into... great videos..
I just bought a 1942 9N so thank you for these informative videos. I need to learn as much as I can 👍🏻
Dan and Rachel - thanks for the videos. After 23 years of use, my 8N hydraulics were sketchy. Your videos took a lot of the mystery out of the hydraulic system. I purchased your top lid rebuild kit, pump rebuild kit, and a couple more parts. Finished rebuilding it last night and it lifts great now!
There are many girls, and many Rachels, but I´ve never seen one like this! This is the best of the best!
Cork and leather still going strong even in 2020. Thank you, Dad and Grandpa for helping mold this masterpiece of a mechanic.
Thanks for this video and the parts I ordered from your site. I just finished repairing the piston on my 8n and works great! Arms stay up and don’t drift down anymore. Thanks again.
I buy my parts from your site, just because your videos have helped me so many times. :) thanks a bunch
I got a Ford 4000 and it is just a bit different. I enjoyed following along on your instructions. thanks for making these videos.
Very impressive work Rachel. Well done. Great tutorial video!
Great 3 part series! Would love to see state of the art 8N axle seals and brake replacement! Thanks
Your videos are very interesting and helpful to me for my 8n restoration. Keep up the good work. Thank you
Rachel, you're doing a great job of explaining how and why you are fixing a problem. I'd like to see you slow down and tell us that we need to clean all the bad grease out of the inner parts of the main tractor. You can't get these things to clean. Your fix will last longer and you will be a happier young lady. I have a Fordson Dexta that needs a clutch put in it. When it warms up I'll have a go at it. I completely restored this tractor from front to back, everything. I wish now I'd have put a new clutch in it. Mine has live power so I have two clutches in it. It's a great little tractor. Keep up the good work your doing quite well, just take your time and you will do a lot better. And don't worry that your video is going to be long, If my tractor needed what your doing to your tractor I'd love to see it all go together, I'm sure everyone will watch it till the end.
God Bless you youngin
mark
Thanks for doing these videos. I have a 9N that the PTO has quit working and your videos are so much better than looking at a manual for repairs. I'm going to have to split my 9N to find my issue, and chance you will be doing a video on that in the future? Great stuff, keep it up.
Bought parts from you mostly because of these great videos.
Best old tractor tutorials on CZcams. Keep up the good work!
Good basic ford tractor anatomy lesson. Thanks! Well done videos!
You guys do a really good job. I enjoy your videos. They are very well done. I use them as reminders and points of reference before I start tearing something apart. It might be good to do a video on replacing 8n axle seals. Maybe include a little tidbit on how the brakes don't seem to work very well sometimes when the axle seals are bad and the oil is leaking all over the shoes and drums.... I am about to get into that today. I find myself wishing you guys had a video on it... Thanks!
Buena explicación gracias por trabajar con el ford 8N
Good job on the repair videos ! I would like to see the same type video on the 600 to 900 series fords . Thank you .
Rachel- You are a very impressive young lady! Your videos are excellent and I always marvel at your knowledge of these tractors. Thank you!!
You do a great presentation and show much knowledge. I gave away my 8n around 25 years ago and it was given back to me last week. No lift and much water in the gearboxes. Look like I will be ordering parts once I get it all apart. Thanks for sharing!
You are great teacher I really enjoyed watching your CZcams. Pls keep it up.
Hi Rachel - Don't I remember you on the Steiner Tractor channel?
I thought you were awesome there and it is no different here. Its great to see some traditions being passed down regardless of gender. Your knowledge is impressive. Thanks for sharing it. I'm sure you've have some struggles but you're still going. Keep it up!
BTW - I bet that piston went half way crossed the parking lot. I've done that too many times. After a while I started putting a rag cushion in front of them for safety.
Great detail on this repair.
Top lid kit ordered. Thank you.
Very helpful information. Thank you for sharing!
Good job
You have to lube that O-ring before installing the piston into the cylinder. Might even help avoid tearing it during installation.
I just purchased 8n and its great
Great to hear they have cast iron disks for the lift lever; now I want to replace the aluminum one mine has
As all your video's they are great well thought out direct and to the point.....I went to your website and ordered all my parts. I could not find the complete kit with it all in one package 3 point lift kit for a Jubilee
Rachel and her Dad must have the greatest relationship in the world. Great videos every one.
This is fantastic! I have inherited a 55’ Ford (I believe an 800 series). It was what I learned to drive on. I am going to restore it this winter (top to bottom, engine hydraulics breaks... etc). You provide a lot of great info, and in return I would like to buy the parts from you. Where should I start?
She will never be an unemployed college student with a hundred grand of debt to pay, smart girl.
Nice job. Wish you did a video on Ford 800's hydraulics and troubleshoot issues.
WOOOW!Very Great mechanic girl!Respect !
Thank you! Helped alot.
Gracias por su paciencia para explicar de forma excelente la reparación del cilindro hidráulico!!
thanks for sharing the video
love all these vids. My 3 point works but leaks down so I'll be going for your top lid repair kit!
Pratim tvoje popravke na masejferguson. I mogu ti reći, da je isto kao imt533 made in Serbia. Svaka ti čast na snimcima i na popravkama. Lepo je videti damu da radi mehaniku. Pozdrav veliki!!!!!
WOW, Just WOW, she knows her stuff, Thanks for your video, it is very informative and helped my better understand several things on these old tractors. I have an old Ford 3000 Diesel. Having lift problems and will not shift into 1st and 3rd (odd shift pattern, 1st & 3rd are far right up 1st and down 3rd). I think the end of my shift rod may be bent and not letting it move over far enough to get into gear. I unbolted the top cover so it would slide around and it goes into all gears fine, but when i tighten all the bolts back up no right side gears. Appreciate any opinions or ideas to solve this.
Another very good tutorial!!!
I just came upon your channel quite by accident, but i am amzed at your knowledge and expertise for your age. ALSO I AM VERY HAPPY TO SEE A GIRL WHO DOESN'T MIND GETTING OILY DIRT UNDER HER FINGERNAILS. wher if i may ask you trained as a mechanic
I learned from my dad and grandpa--excellent teachers with lots of patience. :) --Rachel
I love you video, you're a great teacher, I'd really like to see some video tutorial on International harvester of early 60"s, if possible. mine is a 504 in good shape but I'd like to rehaul it.
Great job on video,
Great video. Thank you.
great tutorial, you make the job an easy task ;-)
Nossa muito difícil ver uma garota se interessar por uma área dessa de mecânica, ainda por cima mecânica de tratores, está de parabéns pela beleza e pelo que faz!!!!!
Keep up the 8n videos please! :)
Good thanks 🇮🇳👍🚜
Great video
Thank you very good video
Love your in detail videos. We have a 235 diesel that has never let me down. Today I'm working on our new arrival 1988 Ford 655a backhoe. I'm hoping you might have some ideas or a video or possibly direct me to someone that can help guide me to figuring out why it stops moving when warmed up?
You are the real deal.
I got a 8n great tractor
You are a wonderfull teacher!
very very very job..saludos Raquel
Very good job
Great as usual...
Good job.
Love your content. Was wondering if you ever did a fordson dexta
Good work
Rachel, you are wonderful! Keep going the good work...
Good job👍👏👏
Thanks a great video, could I ask I have a Ferguson TEF and the draft arm wont move up or down its jammed, do I need to remove all the top section or can it be sorted from the side, thanks again and cheers from Ireland.
Enjoy your videos they are great, Have a question after rebuilding the upper lid for my hydraulics the lift arms (under load) will slowly drift down but at a certain point it will jerk back up to the selected height will continue this over and over while tractor is running but if tractor is not running it will hold the load at the height that it was when tractor was shut down. What could be my trouble ?
Can you do a video on adjusting the top lid internals?
Hi Rachel was wondering what could cause the 3 point hitch to keep going up when you move the lever just a touch. This is on a ford 4610 tractor. Love ur vids
Respect.
Hi Rachel, what causes those rods to bend, and how do we prevent that? My repair manual says to straighten it back out. Thanks, love your vids
You rock.
You said you used a piston from a jubilee. What improvements are there when using that one instead of one for an 8n does it make a difference on the operation of the lift?
Thanks really enjoy your videos they are very helpful
Can you make a video of installing a kill switch on a Ford 8n converted to 12 volt?
Great video. I have a question. I want to rebuild the top cover on my 2N. Is there a rebuild kit or list of parts needed? Figured just rebuild the whole thing while it was out. Does that make sense? Thanks, Richard
Woo! Not afraid to get dirty to show us how to do it! A+
Great videos you have. Question for you as I have a Ford 8n that I was plowing with and hit a tree root big enough to stop my tractor. Once unstuck, my hydraulics won't lift up at all. Have taken the top cover off and made sure the rod went back into the proper position and while apart made sure the oil pumps up through the pipe. The draft control plunger spring is loose and will be changing it out. Would this be the only reason the lift arms will not move up? Every thing I see inside the hydraulic system looks and works as it should. Thanks for your input. Mark
When testing the hydraulic pump on a 54 ford 640, what psi should you see?
Thanks a lot, just ordered the kit!
I don't own a tractor, but....... very good information.
tahnks
I have a golden jubilee. I let it set for 2 years and when i got it back out to dig post holes with my auger when i lift the 3 point it jumps up so fast it's dangerous. It has slowly blead down for years but would take an hour to leak down with a implement on it .any suggestions? If needed i could make a video of it doing it. Thank you
That girl is the best she knows everything about Fords
Could you do a video of how a lift control should work? My lift only uses the top 2 inch of the control... should it lift from the second you pull the handle up from the bottom and should it not drop and hold the position of where your handle control would be? Like 1/4 lift 1/2 lift 3/4 lift full lift and same as for lowering as opposed to all the control function just being at the top?
A friend of mine had an 8N and not only were the hydraulic sluggish, but the draft wouldn't work. A mechanic drained it and put in hydraulic oil but was even worse. We drained it and put in the mineral oil and it worked much better. I suspect the pump may have needed this repair.
Good
What is the difference between the lift rocker that’s shown at 7:23 with 3 places to attach the center link, and mine which only has 1? Does it have to do with changing the sensitivity of your draft control?
Well done... I got a 1940 9n what fluid is the best to run in the transmission/ hydraulic??
YOU rock Girl!!!!! Will watch you when I do my Jubilee!! I have to do this.
do repair tractors for a living or do you work for a company? Love your videos
Please do some ipto repair videos on a 135=) Its really hard to find any good info out there on the ipto system on the Massey Ferguson 135 as some of those have the later ipto and its more difficult to work on compared to the MH-30 or 65
