  • In this clip from a Facebook live stream, Chick combines Mozart’s Sonata in F and Gershwin's "Someone to Watch Over Me". He also shares this bit of advice for the piano players out there (and really any instrumentalist who likes to play solo):
“A real quick tip for piano solo is just to do it a lot. Put a camera on yourself and start recording and just play it. Then check it out - look at what you’re doing and see how you can improve. The more you do it, the better it can get.”

It’s hard to believe someone with the emotional and intellectual artistic depth of a Chick Corea can die. Cherish his recordings.

It is sad to see the passing of this great master. This was recorded only a month before he left us, nearly eighty years old, and he sounds so fresh and vibrant, so full of ideas. He is an inspiration to everyone, musician or not.

This was why I was so shocked when I heard the news... I had been watching some of these videos and he seemed still so full of vitality. He didn't look sick at all.

Chick has a very light delicate touch on the piano keys...and gives his music a delicate and elegant sound. I love to play this way...it is such a beautiful way to play. The motion of his hands upon the keys remind me of the grace of modern dancers. Jerrye.

Ironic it took a jazz pianist in the 21st century to play Mozart closer to how it was played during the classical period....
With more ornaments and improvisation, since musicians of the 1700's were well-versed in improvisation (as opposed to the classical world today who rarely improvises).
    RIP Chick - can't believe you're gone.

Hi Chick-ypu might enjoy " Glenn Gould, Mozart bad composer" . You can google it. Thanks for putting your practicing up.
I hit it every day also, and it´s nice to know that every player around the world is doing it. Most of us enjoy it anyway!
