Ah, the good old days 😅
You mean the good modern days 😅
@@pedromoura1446 meh, at worst Russia gets their territories (except of California and Alaska respectfully) back and France loses african colonies. No one will launch nukes over the Baltic States.
@@dimas3829 I hope you're right. I'd very much like to die of old age instead of radioactive poisoning :)
@@pedromoura1446 I'm already old, I get to do both...
@@dimas3829 No, Putin will launch because he doesn't want to either lose power or look weak.

I believe you.
Sniper duty, noice!
"One shot, one kill."😎
Pvt. Zarmal reporting for duty! 🙂
Oh? A new series?
Can’t wait to see how this plays out
For a while, at least. Still just early access for now, so we're limited in just how far we can actually go. :)
@@RetconRaider that might be for the better as two other main series ongoing on the channel would be VERY long.
You made Puny stare down the General after their shield broke, and they survived!
Also, Bloody Doves from BattleTech Advanced 3062 fame? You keep high company.
i got first move of the game :D cant wait to see more of the series
Pvt. Space Dog reporting for duty
Fun fact this game is how I got introduced to this genre of gaming. And it was from your playthrough, thank you for showing me😃
Private Takahashi JSDF reporting.
Yey I really like this game.
If there will be room and no takers you can add me as another sacrificial lam. Roman, preferably sniper but doesn't have to be, I'm pretty flexible.
I love the "for no other reason" names of the bases. Good on you. Finger snaps for the funnies
Ayy, zenonauts! Maybe I'll go and give it another go
Wow! You just taught me how to use shield personnel effectively. Thanks!
If so, thanks for including me!
Ha, happy to do it. And yeah, that's Reb (at least for as long as I can keep her alive, anyway). I still had the old waiting list from last year. :)
Looking forward to seeing you play this one! I hope you are able to relax and enjoy yourself more.
Aah, I'll be fine. I've just been spoiled by modern TBT games going easy on me. :)
@@RetconRaider relaxing by being immersed in magma. Just like the old ones intended
As usual, Superb commentary! Good to see you haven't lost your touch.
Fun fact (last I checked) stun damage and real damage share the same track. I think this means that if their current HP ever falls below the amount of stun damage suffered enemies will fall unconscious. You can ding an enemy with a pistol then throw a smoke bomb at them to get a capture. This is less relevant now and more useful when enemies are more dangerous and tougher.
This was welcome surprise!
I haven't played Xenonauts 2 since last summer, but it is not due to it being bad game... On the contrary, it is great even on Steam Deck!
Guess capturing the general gives you a 20% on the cleaner network progress? Wonder if he will ever come up again in the future. The cleaners in the current version are a bit weird, as I remember the ones in a previous version having some significant alien implants in their brains to justify the whole thing.
I actually like this better than the implants to be honest. If the aliens had mindcontrol that far developed and widely used than whats the point of them being suble when they can just convert one town after another to build unstoppable influence in both governments and militaries in realtive quick order. This way it makes it more believable that you can take them on as the aliens are forced to be more selective on who they need firmly in their back pocket. Plus i always enjoy a nice dilemma on ethics. The world is rarely black and white nor are most choices easily discernable as being the good choice. Make a call and live with the consequences!
Oh, is that what it did? I didn't notice that at all.
Xenonauts 2 could really use some sort of combat or event log to make it easier to keep track of what's happening. :)
Looks like 10% as it was at 12% before the event and 22% after.
Looks like you have Gaius Baltar as your chief scientist that will not cause you any problems in the future.
I've been waiting for this one!
oh cool! I hope this game comes out of early access soon. It's been so many years. For now tho, this playthrough will definitely be fun!
I like what I have seen of this game and I am definitely looking forward to seeing you play a lot more of this!
Hyped, new series!
I’ll throw my hat (head?) into the ring as well! If there’s an empty spot, you can add Kaebuki in!
Gorbachev died and Soviet Union stands? Blessed timeline.
Yes, I have been looking forward to this!
How does one get on the -meatgrinder- er I mean volunteer list?
Nothing fancy, just have to let me know and I'll add you!
And be sure to mention if you have any preferences on soldier name or other character specifics. I try to accomodate where possible. :)
@@RetconRaider Well then put me in, coach. My only preference would be to try and get the Aussie nationality for my future xeno food :D
Ah, the new run! Nice.
Oooh. X2 I'm intrigued
well that intro feels.... relavent
Addi here, ready to die fruitlessly in a notional effort to defend humanity! Or maybe turn out to suddenly be fairly competent, shocking everyone?
O heck I guess in the spirit of code names I should maybe have my gal called "Lizzie Dess" :D
Get it? Lizzie Dess? Lizardess?
Like and great video.👍👍 I do not know of the world mechanics of the game so i hope at least for narrative pourpose it gives an idea: focus on having full control in the Mediterranian or have hidden buildings in South-America.
hmmm... isnt developing of this dragging on for ages now? i wonder what takes them so long
It's been about six years, yeah. From what I understand it went through some pretty heavy revisions midway through development, based on early playtester feedback.
i was disappointed with not being able to use shields and submachine guns because of how close they make the weapons to the actual stuff considering we have shield we can use rifles with
Yeah, like maybegive disadvantage since the SMH is twohand but allow it anyway! Aside from the projectile system, it takes too much from Firaxis' X-Com IMO.
Like you can't pass grenades, they explode on impact.
Are you absolutely sure that they use NORMAL OFF THE SHELF ballistic shield that is used to stop pistol caliber when going against bloody aliens? Are absolutely sure?
1)are you sure that the full height heavy shield rated high enough that you'd risk taking it against aliens in this case is the same as a small light one handed shield rated against pistols that one can carry with a carbine? Because they're not. Those shoulder/forearm shields are more of armor pieces then separate equipment.
2)the SMG in this case is MP5. You don't use MP5 with one hand. MP7 is the one that is needed for that.
Great game.
This game is Raw as hell. Soo many bugs and very few improvements
Can't say I've run into anything major just yet, but then again I've barely had time to play it at all. :)
I got to say it is an interesting choice for the devs to just remake the first game, instead of doing something new, but doesn't look too bad.
It was definitely an odd choice, considering their first game was itself largely just a modernization of the original X-Com.
From the sound of it, Xeno 2 was originally going to diverge a good bit more from what they did with the first game, but their backers and early playtesters pushed them back towards making something closer to the original.
Private 1. Class Cancerman re-enlisting for some sweet alien murderspray
40:59 it specifically states equipment not the corpses themselves
I mean sure, but aside from their standard-issue SMG, their "equipment" seems to consist of dress clothes and sunglasses. :)
I am ready to be taken to the cleaners? 😂
haaa bloody doves :) does he have stories of crab royalty??
Plumbersmack would love to die!
comment for the comment god!
Retcon you dont need a gurage for the mars units that the vehicle research gives you. however they are expensive.
Ah, fair enough. I'll keep that in mind. :)
I would also like to die a glorious death for supere... Errr... The Xenonauts as well commander! Pvt. Carpete, EDF, reporting for duty!
Ps: even with 10 other people I'm guessing you're going through those and more before you get plasma weapons so make good use of my weak fleshsuit :D
Oof, yeah. I'm certainly *hoping* to keep people alive, but also dreading the inevitable once we start going up against actual aliens. :P
@@RetconRaider well... I've seen someone play and I couldn't figure out if they were just terrible at this or the game was just ruthless but they were losing around 4 agents per mission 😅
My advice would be, stick to walls, don't trust cover and use mechanical units everytime you can to keep soldiers alive.
That being said... The game doesn't really reward you for trying to do so and they cost far less money that most everything in the game designed to help you in that task which leads to most people just throwing soldiers into the meatgrinder in a sort of brute force approach.
We also understand you cant really stay 10min preparing a single move because this is a let's play and has to be entertaining so don't worry too much if you lose most or even all of the raiders. We'll do our part and send more men and women into the fray as needed :D
Taliesin Wee'lass reporting for duty?
Is my character not still on the list? Has been a long time admittedly.
Ah, sorry about that! You're definitely on there now. :)
@@RetconRaider Great. The name I wanted was Clone Trooper 0001. Along with with his clone brothers 0002 etc. with their Shields, Pistols, unnerving smiles and absurdly optimistic attitudes.
If you want to add me to the casualties waiting list, I'll volunteer for active duty.
8:43 A bit overdramatic maybe? :) :) Its just first mission, basically a tutorial. Even in original Xcom you had to play for a while till the moment your full squad catches a blaster bomb in their faces during 1st enemy turn :) Damn I miss good old days... Rebooted Xcoms were nice, some X-com clones as well, but not a single one of them was managed to recreate the effect of the original Blaster Launcher, on environment or your morale... the sound alone... you hear it and you now that something bad is going to happen in the next 2 seconds :)
Ha, fair. I suppose it's also a combination of wanting to do well in my first outing, plus not wanting to get the Raiders killed too quickly. :)
If you'd like to add Deviant1 to your body count. More props if you know where I got the name.
Gz on the pun on the under titel to the video made me click on it.
Honestly, Xeno2 seems a bit easier than Xeno1, at least for me.
Managed to get through the entire Early Access content without losing more than a handful of soldiers (just like a couple soldiers and a single MARS and it was 100% my fault because i was getting sleepy and wanted to get through the mission quicker)
From glancing through the patch notes, it does seem like difficulty tuning is an ongoing process. Could swing wildly from one build to the next.
@@RetconRaider Possibly, possibly.
I think this build doesn't have the Androns yet and they were always the toughest lads to fight, at least for me, back in Xeno1
I.... will be a sour note here.
You have a number of series ongoing, a number of them shelved. BG3, solasta POI, wrath, rogue trader, jagged alliance 3, I even half remember the deepist wyldermyth run didnt end yet.
You do you, ultimate I am powerless, yet I still express my concerns of starting a new series with so many to continue.
Heh, my earlier plan *was* to resume one of the previous paused projects, but as mentioned in the intro there were complications with my first couple of picks. For example, our Lord of Nothing campaign actually got hard-locked by a bug.
Xenonauts 2 was very much a hasty substitute done up just so the slot wouldn't go empty. :)
Did I see Reb Sonya? or was it Red Sonya?
Is it just me, or is Gaius Baltar your chief scientist?
Anyway, seems like a fun mini-series. Will abstain from going on the waiting list on this one, though. I'd unsubscribe if you killed Gaia.
Ha, entirely fair. That aside, I do have plans to get Lord of Nothing going again soon (once I resolve a bug issue), so Gaia will be getting some screen time regardless. :)
