Hey! If your AMG is totalled, here's a possible future project for your vlog. For example, if your AMG is totalled, the insurance company will sale it as a "Salvaged flood" vehicle for probably $25k to 40k. You could buy it, or buy something similar to it, and rebuild it. Then, you could use the rebuild process as a vlog project. Your vlog will blow up! You will notice that a large majority of salvaged vehicles are low mileage lease vehicles. You could show how to get an near exotic car for 40 percent less. www.copart.com/content/us/en/landing-page/copart-rebuild-challenge-winners?cid=vn_rebuild_contest_2017_winners_lp

Here's some potential vlog projects. The idea is to play with your possibilities if you find that you have options to replace your AMG before jumping back into the water:

Glad I came across this video. I am looking at a now-used 2018 GLC 300 SUV and doing some research. Your question "is it worth the extra $10k" is timely since the purchase price for the used car takes into consideration the depreciation making it worth it. Thanks for the review, my mind is made up!

I enjoyed this review! I did my own research 2 years ago looking for a compact suv. In 2015, it was still the GLK, however. So between the GLK, Q5, X3, Escape, CX-5, Sante Fe, I ended up buying a Lincoln MKC 2.0 with the reserve package (a must for the upgraded leather!) When it comes to pricing between all these cars, especially with luxury vs non-luxury there are differences that go beyond name brand. For me one of the most important qualities of a nice vehicle is the comfort and sound deadening. From the acoustic glass and sound dampening to active noise cancellation to better suspension components most people don't notice as much as I do and therefore worth it to me. Also warranty and service from a luxury auto dealer is much nicer than others, from my experiences.

The Mercedes GLC 300 is a nice vehicle in it's class. It is probably worth the extra money, though the Hyundai Santa Fe has different driving modes also. My only complaint with this vehicle would be the leg room in the second row. There is none! Mike had his knees right up against the front seat. Looking forward to hearing about and seeing the C63s.

One thig I don't like about benz is that the LED headlights isn't standard. Even though the halogen is rated as poor. Other companies have led or xenon standard. Especially on a premium car. Even on the GLS. Top of the line benz doesn't even have "good" rated headlights. But if u get the upgrade, man they look nice

I am currently shopping for one of these coming out of a BMW 535IGT. Thank you for a very informative video. I have yet to go test drive 1 with everything going on but I am anxious to check it out. I hate the lag in the BMW twin turbos and are very curious about a 4-cylinder single turbo performance.
And you are right I would never use the paddle shifters either! Not on a 4-cylinder LOL. My husband gets onto me cuz I don't drive my current car correctly hahaha! But I'm sure he will find it just as amusing with the 4-cylinder and will probably use it anyways... he loves the sports and the manual sports modes... likes to eat my gas up!
Anyways if I end up buying one I'm going to do a review video comparing the BMW 535 GT to the downgrade?? into the GLC. I am not a fan of the X1 or X2 and I do not want a SUV SUV. I would buy an X4 GT but they only have two seat belts in the back.

Mike - would this compete more with the Edge - it's hard to tell size but if you're comparing with an X5 or Q5 that's more Edge territory wouldn't you say? When the wife was in the market about a year ago for an SUV we looked at the Audi, Jaguar, Infinity, Lincoln and briefly at the Mercedes (but didn't drive it or the BMW) - she ended up with the Explorer Platinum - the only negatives with rolling an Explorer is they are EVERYWHERE and the MPG is pretty bad when she (a lead foot) drives it....
Great content (as always) keep your spirits up for your AMG - it'll get resolved hopefully without too much out of pocket - when I saw the video I was hoping it was just click-bait....

Hey Mike, my wife and I went through something similar to your situation, but I was deployed when my wife was in her first car accident in my 2014 F-150 FX4, back in 2015. The truck was sitting at a body shop for ten days waiting on an adjuster. I told my wife to call the insurance company, the person at fault insurance company, if the adjuster is coming out today or the next day. After so many calls, he made it out there and the truck was finally able to be worked on. Sucks to hear about your situation. Call everyday if you need to bro.

    • @larsim22
      @larsim22 Před 7 lety

Years ago this was the practice of auto insurance companies. However, this may have changed. First, this process takes 30-day from the date of the incident. First, there must a finding that the claim is legitimate. And, if the claim is an act of insurance fraud. If the adjuster determined the claim is credible and not an act of fraud then the adjuster will quickly assess how much it will cost to settle the claim. If the claim is expected to end with a "Total of the Vehicle" the adjuster will determine the amount of the total. Then, the adjuster will inform his/her manager and the amount of the expected Total will be added to a fund of expected PayOuts for the month. Then, that fund is placed in 15, 20, or 30 day "interest earning" note. On the 30th day of the claim, the totalled vehicle is paid to the vehicle's owner after signing over the title of the insurance company.
The moral of the story, is for totalled vehicles, expect to be paid on the 30th day after filing the claim.

Would the GLC 300 be in the same lineup as an Escape, or an Edge? The GLC looks to be a bigger vehicle over an Escape over all. Escape is a tiny little tug boat. I like my 2013 Edge, love the design of the new Edge's as well, minus the tail lights. that sharp edge causing 2 different plains is a tad silly. Also Edge's look more aggressive then the GLC 300 and the comfort is pretty spot on. Though like you said, interior is the main factor. The highest trim on a Ford will probably never be as luxurious as a Merc. Different leathers, softer materials, elegant design. Still, love my Edge :)

You should check out the Mercedes A45 AMG, now that´s a powerful 2.0l 4cyl engine, almost 400 hp! Does not exist in the US. Awesome car!

You said you couldn't see yourself playing with paddles in a 4 cyl. How about a WRX? (I would hope you'd get a manual but you get the point)

Your correct the best fuel mileage will not come in until you got somewhere between 7 and 10000 miles on the car. But one thing most people overlook about Mercedes Audi and BMW is these cars are designed from the beginning for European driving. And most All European countries have speed limits drastically higher than the United States. The cafe standards are adjusted to fit American roads. But if you test it for yourself you will find your best fuel economy is between 85 and 90 miles an hour. And American cars are designed to get their best fuel economy between 65 and 70.

My guess is they'll have you return this loaner once the repairs on your car begin. The warranty won't pay for the loaner when the repairs are covered by insurance.

I wish you tell us the update on your Mercedes AMG. Like if they are going to give you engine and If it is under Mercedes warranty or if insurance going to pay for it instead.

More gears is good for off-road and economic. Small block more pull power with more gears.

My uncle has a Mercedes GLC, and I have to admit, it's a nice SUV, and it's almost perfect. If it had at least 6 cylinders under the hood, it would be perfect, however it has a turbo 4 which is a huge let down. But I guess due to government regulations, they had to use a turbo 4
