Google "architectural foam moldings" in my area. To purchase these styrofoam molds.
So, you want to add architectural character to a house? You come to the right place or channel.
This complete and detailed video about Stucco Styrofoam decorative trim molds attached to plaster or stucco walls is your ticket to learning. Tip First, install the Decorative Stucco Foam Sill.
Then the side, and lastly, the top.
Huge tip: If you decide to purchase styrofoam stucco molds, make sure you request they be precoated with the fiberglass mesh already protecting the fragile styrofoam with a cementitious adhesive coating such as Poly-Bond.
La Habra’s Poly-Bond is precisely engineered to secure and strengthen the styrofoam by adding a cementitious adhesive to adhere the fiberglass mesh to the styrofoam; Poly-Bond, or a similar adhesive, is also used to adhere the styrofoam to the stucco basecoat.
I personally add some nails so that the styrofoam molds adhere permanently.
Yes, this punctures the paper. However, furring nails and staples also do; this is normal as the paper is designed for self-healing.
I have heard many horror stories from my fellow plastering contractors who mention the high winds blew or knocked off some of these styrofoam pieces. That has not happened on my watch.
I include nails while the cementitious cement adheres the foam to the walls.

Can you use regular base coat to put the foam up or is it better to use the adhesive?
Good morning, my friend; Poly-bond is a cementitious adhesive; any similar products should also work.😉

Can you poly prep the hole house to color coat over paint
Howdy Vince, indeed Poly-Bond can be painted over.😉
Would you mitre cut your mouldings with a mitre saw and concrete blade or is there any other way?
Howdy Old Scool, lots of ways to skin a cat.
You can use a razor blade or hacksaw, but this will create a lot of exposed fiberglass mech tape to cut or go over.

Answers to life’s stucco and plastering questions
Handy looking Molds there Kirk - Not sure we've got those over here in the UK.
Having said that - someone will put me right - (I hope :-)
Morning Moring, just go to the wizard of online searching (Google) type in pre textured stucco styrofoam trim, and just like the wizard from the wizard of Oz movie, or obewonkanobe,
(star wars), the computer will show the nearest styrofoam material yard to you.
Who knows the styrofoam company could be within walking distance from your home, but bring a truck as they are a drag to carry,
Cheers,
kirk giordano
Hi Kirk, just wondering how I can put nail into the rendered brick wall to secure the styrofoam molding?
Cant be done, tape them on instead when set remove the tape.🍻
Do you have a video to removed dated foam mounding? I have columns outside that are huge and ugly. I’d love to redo them to look more modern. Thanks!!
Hello, no,I don't however I'd recommend a saws-all with at least 3 of the longest and best blades sold as you will be cutting through a cementitious adhesive.
As you do the blade will naturally hug the wall, it will bend, but that's normal.
Wear some good goggles, for the sparks from metal cutting cement..
Cheers.

@@StuccoPlastering hammer and chisel might be needed also LOLOL
amazing
Thank you! Cheers!
For the bottom part is it a different way to install ,i saw a video ,people use rebar to hold it ,is it that also a correct way to install?
Good morning, Servando, good question, rebar is not necessary.😉

Howdy DA Dude, thank you.
My builder used Styrofoam planks that look similar to a 2x6 and covered them with stucco and now one of them is chipping severely.
Afternoon 007, styrofoam is not that strong unfortunately

Somebody can help me .. can I use thin set or mortar to glue the molding?
Howdy Fredo, you can, but it's nowhere near as strong as the cement adhesive Poly Bond by La Habra.
Some people have even used Sika-flex adhesive caulking but this takes a while to set.

Answers to life’s stucco and plastering questions
How do you cut the molding? What kind of saw or saw blade do I need?
Morning Steveh, excellent question, we use a large chop saw with a masonry blade, as if you use a saw blade for cutting wood the teeth will shred the fiber mesh on the styromfoam.
Live long and Plaster
Sharing DIY Plastering tips from team Giordano
TheStevehn if you use nails remove the nails before you finish or it will rust through the finished color
Howdy Karla, au contraire mon frère.
We coat the head of the nail with stucco, thus when painted the crown of the nail head won't bleed as it won't rust. When the rains begin no rust no bleeding. This is also common with clay roof shingles, as the hammer hits the head of the nail this removes the galvanization which is done to prevent exposing steel when wet all steel and or iron can rust unless coated. This is a reason why the golden gate bridge in S.F. is coated year round with paint.

Mike Mcorky hey I purchase mines at no products. They even do the half moon design for a window (Styrofoam molding) if needed for a window.
Good morning fellas, depending on what area you live in I would try googling "styrofoam stucco molds" to find the closest company in your area,
of all trade these styrofoam companies go in and out of business fast, why, no idea, but it appears here today gone tomorrow
FYI, Stucco Supply has them they have an office in San Jose and in LIvermore also Cal Ply in hayward has them.

i buy mine at home depot. lowes is the company that does not stock them. i think they stock items based on the demand in that area.
Mike Mcorky northwest foam I'd over 35 years
I was thinking of using cement board for trim around around my windows and doors and stucco it. Who would want styrofoam for a house trim. With kids around it would get all busted up. Am I crazy
Howdy Jimmy, there are many ways to skin a cat.
And many thousands of styrofoam shapes to choose from while cement board is 1/2 thick, they won't be the prettiest design around a window or door. However animals definitely won't chew on them.😉
