I'm glad you moved out. One thing I must say is, make sure you're moving out for you and not because you feel pressured to live this independent lifestyle where everyone on social media is popping up with 'My new house tour' etc. You are independent even if you live at home. I think it's smart to live at home if the environment is healthy. I do believe you want to flat share for you, but please don't feel disappointed that you've left. Feel glad that you made the right decision, no one looks at you differently whether you're living at home or not. We just enjoy your content.

This lady sounded very difficult and awkward to live with, like others said "Why did she advertise for a lodger?" besides getting rent obviously if she causes all this hassle . Don't feel bad about moving back home. It doesn't make you any less independant. Life is all about ups and downs and London is such an expensive place to be living in too. Remain positive and at least you don't have to put with them people now 👍

I would stay with my parents until I moved out of the country. After college I realized that if I wasn’t in my parents home I would live alone. People are difficult for no reason! When I left my parents home I moved into a small apartment in Atlanta. I know its’ more economical to have roommates/flat mates however my peace is worth every penny.

I haven't heard a good story from anyone thats lived with a landlord. You can get bad housemates, but the extra layer of ownership that landlords have make them think they have the right to move mad, this is my house that "I OWN" .

I have had really good experiences but maybe I think it's because I trust my vibes and emotions around people.
My first one in uni back in 2010 is now one of my close friends bless her. She was like a sister to me back then.
My second one was a psychotherapist and alternative therapist and I struggle with chronic headaches - I couldn't afford acupuncture at the time costing £50/60 at the time. She gave me over 15 - 30mins or so sessions free of charge. I was unwell at some point and stranded and had emergency services out to me, informed my family and my manager etc. Even when I moved out her and her husband kept in touch.
My recent one was amazing too. Literally answered to our every need etc.
People need to have discernment, trust their vibes and not pick something out of desperation

She was doing the most! The only way she could get food poisoning if the raw chicken came into contact with the cooked chicken (cross contamination) and SHE ate it. But as she doesn’t eat meat she would not be affected if that did happen. If she said the grease from you chicken was dripping onto her vegetables or you left the food in the fridge for 3days+ plus then I would get her frustration but 1 day? Glad you’re out of there, peace comes first!

It’s super clear that this woman has a lot of different issues within her own life and she’s taking it out on you like you’re not a whole adult paying rent.
The only downside to this whole thing is that you were so excited to move out and have your own space and independence but I really don’t believe you’ll lose that with your parents, because like you say there’s an element of comfort and freedom even under your parents’ roof.

All the very best with future accommodation, it gives incentive to get your own self contained place sooner, be it rent or purchase. Some of the most successful people, their biographies state how they had to move back home, sleep in their cars... eg Sir Alan Sugar, Simon Cowell. Peace of mind is key, God bless your future xx

But they made it very clear that i was not allowed to use the washing mashine, use the hob, cook meal, wear shoes indoors, use wifi(even my mobile data), no streaming. The only thing i was allowed to do was enter from the back door, landlord could enter my room with his key without having to ask for my permission. Needless to say, i did not agree to their ''rules and regulations'' and i am pretty happy now renting through hmo. Better safe than sorry, trust me it is not worth going through so much stress!

Honestly what I've learnt from this situation. 1-have standards and stick to them, 2-be brave enough to state your boundaries, 3-if people don't respect or appreciate your boundaries-they're probably problematic and disrespectful. 4-its okay to walk away from a situation you wanted so badly. 5-sometimes saying no is the BEST thing you can do. 6-God is always in control, even in what *looks* like a mess.

Low-key she's was right though. Keeping uncooked meat together with cooked food is not good. Was the chicken uncovered? Taking up a lot of space in a shared fridge with an awkwardly shaped pot is also rude. And leaving my own pots dirty is different than coming home to use something and someone else has dirtied it up. But it's ok not everyone is meant to live together. Just establish concrete rules and expectations before moving out again.

It wasn't the worst experience but for me, I'd rather be with my stressful family, than deal with any strangers. It's different if you don't have the choice e.g you don't have any family to live with or you moved away but if you do, then always get as much info about the living environment before you move in. And depending on your circumstances make sure that the contract is in your favour

@@SincerelyOghosa 100%. Seemingly, she had already parted with reason and did not respect your boundaries. And to even tell you about previous housemates, for what? How can you feel entitled over a perfect stranger who is paying you? Anyway, glad you're back home and hopefully she'll improve and develop boundaries her own self for the sake of everyone around her 🤷🏾‍♀️

Some people are really mad 😒. It's a blessing that you could freely go back into your parents house and not be stuck living there. When you said no money is worth your peace yesss 🙌. For me, I would like to try moving out soon to have my own space and all! For now I'm just thinking let me just try stack up as much p's as I can at home.

Just hearing how she was behaving, is aggravating me.#Rude.

I am so sorry u needed to pass through this. People are so MAD most times and it's never easy to find a good flatmates in this life. Though, I am not living in London but I believe the way it happens in Spain that's how it is in London. Moreover, some people don't get to understand the word RESPECT. Never feel bad moving back to ur Parents home. It's always the best place to BE obviously. Lots of hug

So sorry to hear this wahala. Tbh I was ready to fly the nest and only after I left did I realise some people are mad and they have no one to tell them. I hope the next place is better and there won't be such a need for conflict resolution. It's not easy to keep your cool with cantankerous people , especially when you want to be doing gentle Jesus meek and mild. I pray you get better people in the future or even a place to yourself and the funds to sustain it.😊🙏🏾

You’re a fantastic storyteller! That landlady was doing too much. Obviously you know best, but didn’t think it was a race thing. I think it’s more she was ignorant to the foods you were making and the unknown can scare people. That being said, that might make it a race thing. Lol
