- This is a compilation of all of the times Major Hochstetter ever said "Who is this man?" and "What is this man doing here". This was originally uploaded in 2019, but was later blocked worldwide, for whatever reason.
I do realize that I included a scene where Howard Caine played a different character, Colonel Feldkamp, but nevertheless, it's included in this compilation.
Re-uploaded to include an extra scene.
This video went from having about 20 likes to having nearly 100 likes within a few days. Is this posted somewhere else? That’s quite a bounce.
nah its just the youtube algorithm seems to like hogans heroes right now, im seeing a lot of recent comments on all the videos im watching, and I myself am on a hogan's heroes binge
I think Major Hochstetter suffered from partial memory loss. He never recognized Hogan when he came back to the camp and that's why he always asked^^

I always loved major Hchstetter yelling....its just so funny . Before Jerry Stiller in Seinfeld and king of queens yelling....there was major Hochstetter in Hogan heroes....so funny.

When Hochstetter hands Klink the paperwork and Klink hands it over to Hogan, I always wanted for Hogan to open, stare at it and say, "I cant read German"

I love that episode and clip.
Hochstetter was the only member of the entire German military that knew what Hogan was doing, but he just couldn't prove it. In the end it was always the same thing "how do I explain this to Berlin?"

This isn't just a compilation of best Hochstetter moments, it's specifically a compilation of his catchphrase.
He is one of my favorite people in this show.
I love how Hochstetter treats every Hogan meeting like its his first time. Its the BEST. Not to mention my Fiance can do his "EHHHH" perfectly.

Interesting note: Robert Clary (LeBeau), was in a Nazi concentration camp as a kid. He has the numbered tattoo on his arm. Must've been weird for him to do Hogan's Heroes.

He's done interviews and said it was different. And he's an actor! Is he going to not do the show that pays him every week?
@@wh4193 - I'm sure it was quite different. After all it IS a TV show, a job. I was never suggesting he maybe would've not done the show for that reason. Only the weird irony of happening to do a show about the particular subject matter.
He worked on a show based in a POW camp, not a death camp. There's a day and night difference between the two. POW camps were administered by the Luftwaffe, and for the most part, observed the Geneva Convention. The Death Camps were administered by the SS and were Hell on earth.
Quite a few actors in the show escaped from Germany during the War. I find it strangely ironic that they'd play the parts of German Officers/POW prisoners, given their personal experiences from such tyranny back then....
Major Hochstetter is my favorite side cast character.

I now have a favorite CZcams video of all time. I always loved yhe show and all. But the combination of all the times he said that is awesome. The temper range fluctuations make it hilarious to me. The Maj gets an A+

Major Hochsetter…the Chandler Bing of Hogan’s Heroes!
Priceless.
Two flaws in the series is that Hochstetter’s insignia of rank shows him to be a full colonel and not a major. Also, the SS, which included the Gestapo, stopped wearing the black uniform and armband and switched to the field gray uniform of the Waffen SS in 1941, so he’d be wearing gray.
So does Hochstetter just have a really bad memory, or was continuity just not a concern then?
1. I thought thought the gag was centered on him being annoyed w/ Hogan being in the office
2. I don’t the think the flow of the episodes was meant to be fixed to different parts of the war. There is some evidence suggesting the writers jumped around. Ie. season 1 episode 28 vs season 3 episode 3. Also, some episodes don’t really have anything to suggest a specific time frame for when they could’ve happened. Sometimes the dialogue holds a clue or two. Sometimes it doesn’t tell you anything
You might also remember, Hogan is always surprised that the Germans are suspicious of Stalag 13, even though it’s a major plot in several episodes.
He probably didn't think early on Hogan was someone worth remembering until he realized he was the most dangerous man in Germany
In actuality, while the actor is the same, he's been playing a different character every time he was on the show until he became Major Hochstetter, who became a permanent recurring character. The first appearance of Major Hochstetter is the last time he asks "WHO IS THIS MAN?!"
He was really fun to watch.
Does anyone know why, there is a bass guitar playing the first half of the theme song but then half way through, it changes to tuba?

Funny , yes ! A Gestapo officer could yell at any one , being Gestapo man
The gestapo was not a part of the army, hence Hochstetter could holler at a general. One flaw throughout the series is that Hochstetter’s rank insignia is of an SS full colonel, not a major.
