You still have to assign all your inputs and outputs for your situation. This template is just a quick starting point
I always appreciate your videos! They are worth their weight in gold!
this is so coool!!! I was thinking about trying this, didn't get the chance yet.
thanks for the video !!
Awesome vid! been using this on Reaper for several years now
Awesome. Thanks so much for sharing. Gotta get the 4816. You’ve convinced me.
I’ve been watching your videos over the last week and learned an incredible amount! You are awesome and this video is EXACTLY what I needed!!!
Daniel, looking at the specs on the DN4816-O, it states 16 “channel” can be sent out via Ultranet. Do you know if a bus or buses be sent to a single output(s) rather than a channel(s)?
Channel here means a signal path so yes you can send a bus out of ultranet but only one bus per output
You cannot send multiple busses out of the same output
@@danielkharrat Awesome, that's what I was thinking. So you could send your 4 stereo buses in mono to one of the Ultranet outputs and have another 12 channels for output if necessary. Thank you once again, loving your videos and learning a lot!!!
@CaptureNotes no, a stereo bus is still 2 mono busses linked together and you cannot send 2 busses to a single output
You can send the same bus to many outputs but you cannot send many busses to the same output
So if you have 4 stereo busses you're gonna need 8 outputs
@@danielkharrat Ah yes... I guess it would depend on how much stereo separation is really an issue. All of our monitors are mono so really a mono signal is all that necessary, however, if there is serious stereo separation, that would be an issue. Once I get the 4816 and Reaper operating together I'll be able to test it all out to see how I can get it working.
Wow! This is amazing! This just changed everything in terms of your options when IEM solutions are concerned. I wonder why they simply won't add the extra buses and auxiliary channels to the MR18 or Air XR18 mixer? It would simplify things greatly & I'd gladly pay the price difference. I know Presonus RM 32 has 32 ins and 16 outs and goes for about the price of the X32.
Excellent work. Thank you.
Great video.......its unfortunate that DAWs in general require you to arm the track to hear anything.......i want to arm and record only when i'm ready.....until then it should work as a normal console. do you have a work around if you want to record your live mix? in this configuration the cue sends would also get recorded. Correct?
@roncoleman5007 protools has an input monitoring button on the track you can hear the input without recording it
Back to reaper, you don't have to record anything if you don't want to but when you hit the global record button every armed track will get recorded
If you want to record your monitor mix you can create a new track and send the cue bus to that track and record it
Yep….i do all that. Just wish you didn’t have to arm the track just to listen to it. That is one good thing that PT does.
Hi Daniel,
Hope you will see my message.
Could you please make a video about how to under ableton record and automate the faders movements of a x32 during a song ?
Also with the x32 internal compressors how and which one czn be use in side chaining mode ?
Thanks,
Paulo
Hello Daniel, I need your expertise, I am the drummer and I have an X32 compact at my hybrid drums, i am mixing card inputs from a VST, and mic inputs for cymbal overheads, hi-hats, and splashes. My Compact is connected to AES-B port on my S16 at the drums which is connected from port A to another S16 in port B, from there the second, (or first in line) S16 is connected to our Full size FOH X32 via port A. I have success routing my Drum mix-busses 1-8 to FOH X32 via AES-A 17-24 to individual input channels at FOH Mixer. My problem is I cannot seem to route the drum X32 outputs of mixbus 9,10 or 11,12 for overheads in the same exact way to the FOH Mixer, I have tried all of the routing scenarios I can think of. I have the latest version, 4.09 on both mixers and User Routing does not seem to help.??? I dont use X EDIT or Mixing Station.
Hi Daniel thanks for this video.
Next to 16xOUT channels, can the 6xOUT channels of the mixer (MR18/XR18) still be used as monitor-outputs?
Asking this in case of if I want to buy a DN4888 with only 8xOUT and 8xIN.
Yes but you cannot add inputs to the mr18
The ultranet is only for outputs so the 8 inputs on your dn4888 will not be used for anything
Ok thanks and thanks for the extra information about the inputs 👍🏽
Does Reaper have some feature that other DAWs don't have to allow this kind of configuration? If I tried this with logic, would I encounter issues?
All daws can receive audio and send it to busses and outputs but the question would be how would the musicians control their mix
I don't have logic i never tried it
But the questions you need to answer for yourself are:
Can i remotely control logic?
Is there and easy way to control sends to a certain bus via that remote control?
Does logic keep the record buttons ON if you close and open the project file? Or do you need to turn them on every single time?
Can logic load a template automatically on startup?
This can be used on in ear monitors oo
Sure
Does it work with an x32 also?
Yes i talked about it in the end of the video
Oh sorry I thought It was only for the M32, thanks! Keep doing this great stuff you are helping a lot of people. God bless you 🙏🏽
@Otonielpv12 m32 and x32 are the exact same mixer but the m32 has slightly better preamps and nice build quality but everything else is the same
And everything without reach 96KHZ SIYA
