My mother (1926 - 2019) grew up in Alton, Illinois in the same neighborhood as Robert Wadlow and knew him. She said that he never failed to say Hello to my mother and they went to the same school although not the same grade. He was never seen as a freak in Alton and was well-respected as the kind gentleman he was. My father and his father both worked at International Shoe Co. across the river in St Louis who made his shoes.

@@dreamthedream8929 Sadly, no. He was Harold Wadlow Jr. He died on Dec.31, 2000. Just before he died, he gave an interview about his brother Robert and how Robert always treated him like a king. And how he admired Robert so much.

I love watching pictures or videos of him because you really see that he was loved from his family in every detail. Love is everything and that's why he looked so happy and was said to be so gentle.
He seemed like a great dude. Just humble and as complex as a small human would be. We remember him by who he was not how long. RIP ROB WADLOW.

Why do you assume that? If a couple gives birth to a male (because Robert Wadlow was also a male) baby (or if the baby is still in the womb) and start:
A - feeding him enough:

This video makes me sad. 22 candles on his cake i think, so this might be his last birthday? I feel so sorry for people like him, especially if it is very likely that you do not live long :(
The first one was his 20th and the second was his 21st.
Plus he had no idea how long he had to live. No one, even Bob himself, knew he would pass away at 22. He didn't have a terminal condition or anything. It was that damned leg brace he had to wear because of his height that caused his death because of an infection of the sore that the brace caused. Before he had to wear that particular brace, he was actually in pretty good health.
That bloody leg brace.....

He seemed such a decent, kind and loving young man, son and brother. I am sure he would have made anyone a great friend too.
Tragic that he only lived to 22. He was 8ft 11.1 inches tall and was still growing when he died. If he had lived another 6 months he would have been 9ft tall.
Robert was one of a kind, although his life was brief, the world was a better place for him being here through the lives he touched.

When he was a kid, he could lift his dad and take him up the stairs... in a chair! His strength weakened slightly as he got older, but he was still strong.
