This is incredible!!! Happy Birthday Robert Wadlow! He would have been 103 years old today.
It's a fantastic birthday present! :D
@@britishchick09 it sure is! RiP Robert Pershing Wadlow
And maybe 103 feet tall
Today he is 106 today
I really miss him :((
In all the documentaries I've seen about Robert, his kindness is always mentioned. Truly a gentle giant.
He definitely was! :)
@@britishchick09 What if Robert Wadlow the world's tallest man was as tall as the NYC street light pole?
Do You guys know how tall is the light pole really is?
How much would you weigh if you guy's were as tall and as big as the NYC street light pole?
@@58jn89 Died A sad virgin what a giant loser
He was an impeccable dresser.
I grew up in Alton, Illinois and my mother (1926 - 2019) knew Robert Wadlow as they both lived in the Upper Alton area and went to the same school, although were not in the same grades. Mom said that he always had time to say Hello to her. He was a gentleman and well-respected in Alton and never treated as a freak by those in his home town.
It's always amazing to hear stories of people who knew him! I'm glad she was kind to him just like everyone else! ♥
What an awesome story!
I’m 7ft and I have a bunch of struggles because of my height. and I’m not even nowhere near this as tall as him can’t imagine how much physical pain he had to go through poor guy.
There’s an iconic photo of Shaq standing next to a mannequin of Robert Wadlow. At 7’1-2, even HE is nowhere near as tall as Robert was.
@@rapbattlefan2008 shaq is 6’11 he said he claimed to be 7’1 just because it sounded better and that he played like he was 7’1
@@theborderlinegiant Shaq is 7’1. There are photos of him next to Dirk Nowitzki, who is 6’11, and Shaq is clearly taller.
@@rapbattlefan2008 in shoes maybe that doesn’t count he literally admitted that he’s 6’11 you can look it up there are pictures of Shaq next to Carter from thatallfamily Carter is legit 7’1 and he was taller than Shaq
Are you in much pain? How old are you?
Despite his stature, both physically and in celebrity, Robert strived for as normal a life as he could. An ordinarily extraordinary person. The most gentle of giants.
You can tell by looking at the young man that he was a well mannered gentleman.
Indeed! :)
He was 8'11 and was still growing. Imagine how tall he would be if he hadn't died.
Maybe he would have met a girl, and got Married. I know he would never find a woman close to his height
but it wouldn't matter. Robert wasn't a bad looking guy, he was well polite, well mannered, and had a wonderful
personality. He would have found a a girl
Lets say he lives a full life, he would probably be close to 12 or 13 feet! Thats insane!
*lived
8’11.9
Idk you don't really grow much taller after 22 mostly just body mass not height
When I feel deeply saddened, I watch this documentary of Robert Wadlow. What a great person he was💙
The videos of him with his little brother are so adorable, his brother must have missed him so much.
They are! And he certainly did. ♥♥
❤️❤️❤️❤️So lovely
What a sweet guy. He must have had so many problems we'd never think of. He seems to have really had a lovely nature.
Indeed he did! ♥
Sure he had problems .He walked with à cane as a young man and would wear orthopaedic appliance to stand up or he couldnt have walked so sad.. He had à tragic life even if happy sometimes ..
I remember reading about him in a copy of The Guinness Book of Extraordinary Records which I had as a child over 35 years ago. This is the first time I've ever seen moving images of him. What a remarkable young chap.
He definitely was remarkable! If you want to see more moving pictures, I have many on my Robbie website (the last link in the description)! :)
I received my first volume of Guinness Book in 1976 and I still remember seeing him in that copy, which was the first time I had ever heard of Robert Wadlow. Until then, I didn't know that somebody that tall had even existed! It really does make one wonder just how tall he might have gotten, had he lived!
Same here, had a Guiness book of records 1992.and had a chart only.
Amazing how internet brings us these thinga
@@JaegerZ3 same here man. I remember Robert in it and a man named Hughes that at the time was the heaviest person ever.
It said he had to be buried in a piano case as a coffin. You remember reading that?
"A friend who happened to be taller than anyone else". What a legend. He will surely be missed by everyone who knew him.
What a sweet young man. Tragic he passed away so young.
I cant believe his massive size was due to the gland in the brain the size of a bean. I'm so sorry to hear that he was in constant pain as well. Rest eternally.
He was probably one of the nicest people to ever walk this earth.
Indeed! ♥♥♥♥
I think so ! 🙏
it's too bad he passed away so young, but I'm glad he was able to live a full life and make a lasting impact on his community during the time he had. he seems like a very kind and intelligent person :)
He would never have made it past 50 anyways due to the heart Robert Wadlow had feeling only down to his ankles, his feet no feeling at all wich is the reason why he didnt feel the leg brace creating a flesh wound that got infected died at 22 R.I.H (rest in height)
What an amazing guy! So mature and kind, but breaks my heart that he had to die at such a young age :-(
This is a remind of nature that the extremes are not good.
@@giannislekkakos1996 yeah, but I’m sure he was aware of that xD
The eye brows
Hé was too tall..He was a giant with a disease He couldn't have lived long with his trouble and many problems such as bone trouble , vascular trouble and other things. Its not his fault but people suffering with such abnormalities don' t stay alive till the age of 80 and he continued to grow after the age of 12.. his skeleton had to be damaged and he used to wear orthopaedic appliances to maintain his column spine and body and make him stand up .Hé also had à cane .poor Guy
!!
@@giannislekkakos1996 including extreme kindness 🥺 I wish I wasn't a nice person.
Fascinating story of a seemingly wonderful human being. It's sad he died so young but he left quite an impression on everyone he knew.
Great Documentary. Robert Wadlow was a great person.
God bless Robert Wadlow and his lovely family. ♥️
RIP
Robert Wadlow
🙏🏻
Robert Wadlow came through my hometown of Chillicothe, Ohio, in July, 1939, with his father, sister, and brother. They stopped for a bite to eat at a pharmacy lunch counter, and of course drew a crowd. A picture appeared in the local paper the next day.
That's so neat! :D
Was there anything left to eat for the other customers afterwards?
@@darrylschultz9395 Must you make of him even in death?
@bluewolf2708 Not my best joke, but do you think he'll mind?
He seems so nice and kind. Absolute a friend I would like to have. I hope you enjoy heaven and keeps smiling everyday!
♥♥
Gentle giant he was the embodiment of. RIP Robert. I've always been intrigued by your story.
1918 to this date 15/08/2021 and beyond He'll never be forgotten. 😥
He was born on same month with me February, I've always watched his videos, I know I'll never get to meet him but I'll never Forget him, he's a record breaker, Robert Wadlow ❤❤
Indeed! ♥♥
We will always remember Robert Wadlow the tallest man in the World, may he Rest in Peace.
♥
He seemed like a great person. It’s sad that he passed away way at a young age. Way too soon.
He had à disease since his infancy. Unfortunately he died because of his orthopaedic appliance and because in a long term he would have had bone trouble and from his skeleton . His body had to suffer a lot
he seemed like such a sweet heart but I can only imagine how uncomfortable he felt living in a world that wasn't made for him.
I’m very honored to say that Mr.Wadlow and my mother share the same birthday I’m also very honored to say I was born and raised as well as lived only 30 minutes away from Alton Illinois in a town call West Madison Illinois but even more ecstatic to have had an uncle that resided in Alton Illinois I’ve visited Mr.Wadlow’s grave site as well as well as the museum for him Alton Illinois is a beautiful place to me from what I remember I moved away in 1998 not really sure how much has changed but I do believe it’s even more beautiful now than back then🥰🥰🥰🥰
I visited Alton in 2016 and it's such a nice little town! The statue was incredible to stand next to, the museum was so much fun and Village Inn Pancake House was delicious! :)
I'm so thankful for this documentary, I remember as a child I was so fascinated by him and wish I could have met him... We sort of can in this beautiful documentary. What a wonderful person he was!
What a gentle person!! May his soul rest in peace!!
I actually just learned about him.
It's sad he died so young. What a gentle soul he was.
I will never forget u robert wadlow i. Miss u RIP ROBER WADLOW :(( ❤️🥺
It's good to see a history of this kind person
9ft tall. Incredible. I went to Ripley’s believe it or not Museum and stood next to his replica. It’s pretty wild how big it is in person.
I didn't expect to get so emotional but this was a truly beautiful tribute to a beautiful human.
It certainly was! :')

One of the sad things is that penicillin became widely available and mass produced just 3 years after Robert's death, which would have have cured his blood infection.
For all the problems and difficulties he had, he still had so much time for kids. That puts him way up there in my book. A truly great person. R.I.P. big fella.
He didn't have problems he was just unsually tall he caught an infection due to falty leg braces
@@dannyackland3983 i dont know, id say being 8ft 11, not being able to just walk in somewhere and sit down, not being able to just jump in any car apart from your Dads, not being able to get on a bus or train comfortably and getting stared at everywhere you go cos theres no one else even close to your size would be a problem. Would be to me anyhow.
👍
What an incredible young champion, RIP Robert.
♥
Thank you for uploading this wonderful documentary.
You're welcome! :)
He seemed to be such a sweet and kind person, he was always smiling.
He was! :)
Amazing video he was very kind to others people in hes hometown also respected him this video show’s everyone is human it doesn’t matter how tall they are or any disabilities he also has a place in this world and in the hearts of others may Robert be layed to rest
He's one of the people that I really wish I could have met.
I have met Robert Before 1918-1940 8'11⅑ Is Mentality! I am 98 Years Old my name is Ruby Harris and I sat by him in class! All the time. It is mental, When I was 11, 87 Years Ago, I Sat By Him Once And Said You Look 6'0, Robert Said, I Am 6'0 I Don't Know Why I Grow This Fast, The Vast Majority Of My Class Was 4'5 - 4'8 I Was 4'5 I Was On The Shorter Side, at the time, Robert Was 1'7in taller than me. I use my brothers account James Harris, Because I Don't Use CZcams Much. But I wanted to find Wadlow and I did. He died of elliptical seizures and attacks in his body. 439lbs is light for someone 9'0ft. ❤❤❤ R.I.P Robert Pershing Wadlow!
Not only is this video about a remarkable man that lived but its so nice to see a part of America thats has all but disappeared, people dressed to the nines, respectable, kids minding their adults etc, that,s all gone.
The videos of Robert and his little brothers are so touching.
It is! :')
Robert Wadlow was an amazing man.
Robert Wadlow is a true legend.
He sure is! :D
Amazing quality, thanks for the upload!
Thanks! :D
Ever since I found out about him I’ve always been fascinated by him if time travel was invented I’d go back to a time when he was alive so I could meet him he seems like a real BFG he seems so nice
On June 27, 1940 Robert’s height was measured at an incredible
8ft, 11.9 inches
He certainly was 9' at death, some say 9'1" barefoot, 9'2" in shoes
Never knew of him before today. Randomly came across a video of him and had to know more. Makes me wonder how tall he would've grown if the infection didn't kill him at such a young age. That aside, he seems to be a sweet down to earth guy. RIP Robert Wadlow.
Happy birthday to the Alton giant!!!!
Yay!! :D
The tallest human to have ever walked the Earth. Seemed like a very sweet and nice fella, rest in peace Robert 🕊️
James Middleton was 9'3" who was born in 1600s and died at 45 years.
Literally no way to be sure of who the tallest person to ever walk the earth was.
Being tall is great but that tall would be terrible. Everything would have to be fitted to your size and the fact that he was always happy is very impressive.
He kept up a positive spirit! :)
From what many have said of Robert Wadlow, he was one of the most good hearted person to have ever lived.
He definitely was ♥
What a legend
A kid who was born in small world for him but he kept smiling and living his life
Indeed! :)
Would love to see a modern adaptation movie of his life
That would be so cool! :D
Man one half of me would love it the other tells me I'm about to bust them tears
This documentary is already a legend which was made in 1975.
It definitely is! :D
Great presentation. Robert, by all things regarding his personality, was a genuinely nice young man.
He was indeed! :)
Never seen videos of him wow this is amazing....so sad he was so young and still growing was tip toeing on 9ft! R.i.p
Robert's parents would never lose him in a crowd his parents could spot a tall man in a crowd
Ha ha yeah! ;D
Love you ❤Robert Wadlow. Special Spirit ❤
A giant with a good heart
♥
I am standing 6'10. I feel lonely every where I goes . people staring me like a weird creature. Even I cannot hold my friends in my Shoulders. No girls approach me.. They scared of me. My bed is not enough for me. No shops offer me clothes. No Footwear shops can find my shoes..
I don't like to go out.
After watching this video Robert is still smiling He is taller than me more than 2 feet before 80 years ...
Can I go out again?
I remember my Dad talking about him when he came to Springfield Illinois for some event… I have never heard a bad word spoken about the young man everyone said he’s was so kind… One of his shoes are on display in a Alton bar/ restaurant it’s simply unbelievable how big it is….
It's incredible! I love that everyone treated him with respect! :)
Looks like his brother died young too, before he was 40 I feel sad for the parents.
The tallest man I have seen in person is 7'8". Robert Wadlow was more than a foot taller.
What gentle kind person died too young RIP
Seems like he was a very smart, thoughtful, pleasant and conscientious person.
He was! :)
Those were definitely other times bc there wasn’t im sure as much bullying as it is today and making fun of someone. Of course this is taught to be kind and respectful in the home. What a sweet young man and his family seemed like a loving family. This video was a blessing to watch.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Maybe not towards him but there was definitely bullying at tht time.
What a beautiful human being.
Such beautiful story of such a gentle boy ...
It sure is! :')
Just imagine if he survived 5 more years...
He would have been past 9 feet tall! :o
He seemed so sweet. He will never be a footnote....he will always be remembered.
Anyone notice how polite, well spoken and classy people were back then?
RW FOREVER IN OUR HEART ❤

From the cars, clothes and hairstyles in the interviews it looks like much of the testimonial talks were filmed in the 1970s.
It was filmed in 1975! :)
@@britishchick09 Thanks
It's so sad he passed away at such a young age...but he is in a better place where no one can say unkind things to him.. He wanted to normal... He is normal now in heaven
I always wondered how tall he would have grown if he hadn't died so young?
I never knew his voice was so deep
What a wonderful man he was. Because myself, being a diabetic, I and Robert Wadlow should be checking our feet daily. He definitely would have lived longer, but back in those days, a person would try something out, and wait what happens, and that is all.
Well done
Tim Leone did an amazing job! :D
