The hospital scene in the manga much more satisfying when Naoka got the shit kicked out of her by Shouko's mum. She threw her against a car. Miki got bullied online. Like. Thank you!
I still think the actor for Dolores is the GOAT. She is so skillful in making EVERYONE hate her. It’s admirable

Homelander from The Boys is definitely one of these characters for me, such a roller coaster to watch. Pathetic & intimidating at the same time with an insanity I have rarely seen in other characters. A ticking time bomb of an arc so far that’s fascinating to see unfold. Also WOW this is a so high quality filler episode 😂 excellent as usual!
Homelander is Joffrey but he has superpowers instead of a throne, money and influence.
Same characters traits and I feel kinda the same for both 😂

I want Guts to cleave him in half but it's to the point where I don't even think anything could resolve it anymore. Like, I'd still be pissed.
I think what makes me personally hate Griffith so much is the fact he has so many apologist IRL. Like my dude is a textbook ego-maniac, while also being a mass murderer, a rapist, and unfairly vindictive. Yet, somehow, there’s people who still think he was in the right because “he made a nice looking city lol”. Yeah, that was AFTER he killed hundreds of innocent people and turned the world borderline apocalyptic so he could feed his ego of being a “savior” figure.
I hate how realistic that is too. There’s a lot of awful people in the real world who’s just as revered as Griffith is in his own story while being just as evil.
just watched harry potter for the first time after playing the game, and what really gets me about Deloris is that she reminds me of so many narcissist teachers i had in highschool. really got to me and made a good villain. had to click when i saw that demon woman in the thumbnail.
It might just be because I started with the Manga first, but man that little rant on Miki spoke right to my soul. The entire time I was watching a silent voice I kept thinking "I know you may have forgotten this, but you were quite literally in the thick of it maki. You weren't an onlooker, you participated fully".
I'm glad someone voiced my feelings perfectly about Miki from a silent voice. Also glad you confirmed the Apari modeling gig, I thought I was being stupid. Congrats man and a brilliant filler.
This was actually a really nice change of pace for a new IP video.
Sure, the more emotional and analytical stuff is great but its always fun to just rant about hateable characters or media every once in a while, and even more fun to see someone else share those same sentiments.

That section about Miki brings me bad memories, every time she played the victim I just hoped someone just hit her. She really don't reflect on her actions and sometimes I feel she really believes she is an angel that didn't do anything wrong.
And that part of Snape...chef's kiss. If you want a fools proof strategy to spot "nice guys", you just ask them what they think about Snape. If they respond that he is a good guy motivated by his love for Lily, run away from them.

I like to think that Ueno wasn't supposed to be "redeemed", but instead showed that they were gonna start on the path towards it at the end. And goes to show how open-hearted Nishimiya was, that she helped with the sign language at the end. IMO the ending just shows a turning point in the lives of the characters to just do better from here on out, and even though it's not perfect (sign language, missing cranes) it's still a step in the right direction. Best god damn movie of all time.

Ed Edd n Eddy is probably my favorite cartoon ever, Sarah got what she deserved occasionally 😂
btw in case anyone is wondering, in the silent voice manga there is a lot cut out that never made it into the movie, some stuff is still the same, but its miles better considering there is whole plots about the manga that gets cut out. And it has more of a satisfying ending to the annoying characters somewhat. So if you liked the movie, give it a read, its well worth it.

I agree that Snape wasn’t “redeemed,” but he is an example of how love can reach anyone if they allow it. One of Dumbledore’s last lines is “pity those who live without love.” Snape chose power over love, and payed for it by losing his loved one. I believe he grew to pity and hate himself for it, and chose to serve Dumbledore by being useful in the name of the only one he loved. I think a full redemption would involve Snape learning to love and forgive himself, eventually learning to love others again. However, he believed he never could, and so he could never treat others with love either. He is a morally grey character, meant to be understood, but ultimately pitied, for he could not learn to live with love again. He also proved a valuable ally at many times, though none of that truly redeems his misdeeds.
I do have to disagree with the Neville thing. I think 13 year olds have lots of irrational fears, and considering he hadn’t really faced the dangers his parents had, Snape was the scariest thing to him, aside from making his grandma angry. We never know for sure, but my guess is after the events of book 5, Neville had much greater fears than a teacher who was mean to him, and by book 7, he had overcome even those fears. And that’s not to give Snape a pass for his horrid behavior either. I just think a student fearing a teacher isn’t as unheard of as people make it out to be.

Specifically the book version, as I think the movie doesn't capture how good it feels for him to be punished and feel the feelings that he does. I think the movie doesn't exactly redeem him, but it does put more emphasis on what society as done to him, while in the text you just spend so much time in Bateman's head that you really feel a seething hatred towards everything he represents, even in spite of his setting.
He's such a fiend.
Also shoutouts Freiza, but I honestly just straight love him at this point so it's weird.

I don't think the A Silent Voice characters were redeemed in the manga either(from what I can remember), the point is that they're human and people don't just magically become good overnight, change is long and hard. But they definitely had a lot more development in the manga.
Also thank you for pointing out how bad Kawai is! So many people think she's nice, it frustrates me. At least Ueno is upfront with how terrible she is, by the end she even makes the tiniest steps to change, Kawai on the other hand is so fake all the time that it's impossible to tell if she's ever genuine or changed at all, she's the kind of person I really can't stand.
